  • In this video we walk thru the procedure to replace a noisy GM air ride compressor. We also show the steps we took to re-charge the system with air, (without the use of a scan tool). This is important to do before lowering the weight of the vehicle on the suspension.

    Years ago had a customer come into our dealership because the the air compressor on their H2 didn't shut off. We got the H2 up on the lift to check why it wasn't shutting off. While the shop manager was looking the H2 over, one of the air springs popped. When that air spring popped, it was LOAD. It sounded like a bomb exploded in the shop. It gave us all a good scare. Don't know how much pressure it takes to pop one of those air springs but it just goes to show you how much pressure one of those air compressors is capable of making.

      Woah! I've never heard one pop but I can imagine it's insane. They have to have quite a bit in there to support hundreds, if not thousands of pounds.

    You didn’t need to jack the car up, you need the sensors to kick pump on with car sitting on them

    Nice job! Looks like the truck's frame is almost rusted though. I remember those days growing up in Massachusetts.

      Hi Mike,
      Yeah up here in Wisconsin, we see a lot of rust. Surprised car manufactures don't use better coatings. This truck was a 2015!

      @Go tech. In the 1960's the exhaust systems would rust out so easy. GM tried double pipe for the exhaust pipe and the crossover pipe one inside the other. The problem my Dad found was the inner pipe would collapse inward choking the exhaust and the term "Can't go over 30 MPH" became very unpopular. GM and others finally came out with aluminized exhaust and that problem was somewhat solved. Next the aftermarket tried sprays of thick tar like substances. Once the "salt (+) water found an open spot it would corrode under the tar like substance. I know there is NHOU (New Hampshire Oil Undercoating) Fluid Film and others that Eric O from South Main Auto Repair in upstate New York has mentioned, but that becomes a yearly application.
      Where I live now is Southern California we don't have that problem or at the worse Caltrans puts some kind of traction aid, not salt, on bridges only. When this material is washed onto grass or weeds, it actually aids the plant in growth. I think it's some kind volcanic material.

      Crazy, I have heard of the fluid film technique. A lot of plow trucks get treated that way up here, it is messy and doesn't smell great, but if it works it works. That volcanic traction aid sound neat, especially if its good for the environment.

    Why is mine draining my battery?

    • @GoTechTraining
      @GoTechTraining  Рік тому

      You could have an issue with your Electronic suspension control module or ride height sensors keeping the compressor on.

      I can’t believe you answered me! Thank you so much. They said it’s fuse 24 has a draw. When they pull it out it stops. So they say I need a new compressor

    In comparison to Aussie cars that looks like a rot box they can be 20yr old n still be clean as the day they left the factory.
