    Your 500 is good when doged in but limbing its 4 stroking bad! We've been having Aaron Lynch port our 500s and his recipe gets rid of all that 4 stroke. That was a bit of a taxing job as spruce has always got so many limbs! Good stuff Gordy thanks for sharing!

    Limbing a tree laying on the ground is so freakn dangerous, people need to really be careful and watch for the tension and compression on the limb when they are cutting it and as you could see Gordy was being very careful making several cuts to try and release some of that built up pressure, nicely done Gordy!

      Gordy there are lots of people on here doing tree felling, but in my humble opinion none of them do it to the same degree of proper technique/etiquette as you do. I know I'm showing my ignorance but does each ring represent 1 year? Seams like I heard that when I was a youth, but I've never really given too much thought to that

    • @olsno26
      @olsno26 2 місяці тому +2

      Yes, each ring equals 1 year of growth.

    • @StuInTheSticks
      @StuInTheSticks 2 місяці тому +2

      Yes each growth ring represents one year, the outer layer under the bark is what grows and adds to the tree each season. When you see big spaces in the rings it means that tree had some really good growing conditions ie lots of rain and sunshine at just the right time, when the rings are real close and tight means it was through some very dry years. That's how they know when we had bad droughts in the past by studying old trees, pretty interesting how these things can be figured out from looking at a trees lifetime.

    Appreciate the take on suspension and numb hands. I’ve been getting that now in my late 30s for the first time. I’m guessing it’s due to snowmobiles and chainsaws.
