The VR180 videos I've been seeing with these recent new stereo cameras have some strange artifacts, most notably wobbly straight lines and exaggerated or artificial depth in patterned surfaces like gras or carpets. Just look down at the beginning of the video and at the front edge of the table. The non-straight lines are present throughout all the samples. I would consider this to be a defect of all this cameras as it severely degrades the quality but this hasn't been mentioned in the reviews I've seen (including this one).
@@o0AnotherweaseL0o at least I experienced similar with Street View in GMaps regarding 360 ... they do a comparable lousy job in reproducing VR from the equirectangular. My guess it's the same here from the 180, not from the 3D. Just my thoughts, let's hear it from Ben 😊
This is due to UA-cam’s compression.. nothing to do with the cameras. Watch this same video on VeeR (link in description) and you’ll see straight lines behave the way they should.
I wish the camera manufacturers would do this. allowing consumers to have a sample of what sort of image their product puts out is really helpful when trying to decide which product to buy.
Ben, your VR180 comparison video and EVO coverage is very well done, thank you. The higher res & HDR of the EVO (plus their app/case for viewing 3D with your phone and the ability to view directly in the Oculus GO via wifi) makes EVO the clear winner for now. BTW, Consider educating us on the plants in your garden in VR180 by putting each on the table and sharing your hobby with commentary. We’ll listen, honest.
That was fun looking at all your gear on the right. In your studio, the vuze looked the best, but most of the other shots the depth was too strong in my Daydream headset. I agree that the Evo was the best overall to watch.
I watched this on my phone but I overall felt that EVO stands out the winner! Of course the stitching is going to an issue but the camera seems to perform amazingly! EVOlution of the cameras indeed!
Thanks for your comparison! The one thing I missed was your opinion about the audio differences: e.g. the Vuze XR has 4 mics for Ambisonics, whereas the Insta360 EVO only has 2. How much of an issue is this?
Man, that's why I'm your fan. Excellent comparative. This video helped me decide on my purchase. I really enjoyed the quality and ergonomics of the Vuze XR.
Thank you, Ben. Just bought Vuze XR today after watching this review. Love the design. And quality is outstanding. can't pick EVO as i can't stand the design. LOL. Hope they will release updated firmware soon. :)
That iPad Pro case you’re using, please tell me is that a Holocase??? Would be soooo sick if we could actually Holocase an iPadPro!! If it is, then I’m totally 100% convinced to buy an EVO.
Wow, pretty amazing when viewed in the Oculus Go, especially when you were sitting at your desk I felt like we were having a conversation in real time. Well done Ben!
Thanks for these great videos. Has the Vuze XR had any firmware updates yet? I really love the design but the blown out highlights are a deal breaker for me..
Looking at the EVO per this review. But says they are out of stock. Any idea what the issue is there? Production stopped for any reason? Dare I ask if it's the Corona Virus shutting down the factories?
i know this is old but it would be great if u uploaded portions of the video tests for those with slow connection speeds. I'd love to download the vids and compare for myself with the quest!
Thanks for your reviews Ben, I did watch this one on an Oculus Go and liked the feeling of depth in the still images. The shots at the coffee place where a bit too close for my taste but impressive focus tho, do you recall the distance (sort of) you had from the cameras?
Thanks Angela, yeah the purpose of that scene was to test the depth! It’s exactly as close as it feels.. it gets as close as maybe 3 inches. I think the final coffee photo (HDR) with the EVO has it at the optimal distance 👍
Is there any sort of updated video like this? This is 2 years old also are there new 180 cameras out there or coming out? I'd like to get one but I feel like all the options are like 2+ years old or just 360, I'd really prefer to have both options.
Well done Ben. Looks great on the GO! Pity the Vuze blows out the highlights cause the colours and sharpness are good. Looks like I’ll be saving for an EVO as my Qoocam’s 4K just doesn’t blow me away like the 5.7K does!
I have been playing around with the Qoocam this winter. I have alot of fun with it and I appreciate the long battery life. I look forward to the next generation of 180 3D. Hopefully more ability to mess around with depth mapping. Now that Headsets and powerful PCs are becoming more mainstream I can see 3D 180/360 really becoming popular. Thanks for the review! Oh btw, I noticed on your Instagram that you were having problems getting the video to work on UA-cam. I find it takes about 20 minutes or so before it works properly in 180 3D VR after uploading. Cheers!
I want the evo with usb C and h.265 it is 2019 after all. Also, a 2.0 aperture lens would be nice. I've got the qoocam so I'm tempted to wait for the next iterations of 3d cameras that have everything on my shopping list.
Me too, although there still isn’t a camera that ticks every single box possible.. and there might not ever be. I guess you gotta decide what’s most important to you and choose the camera that has the most of those features 👍
Besides the quality of the 3 camera's. This was an awesome way to review, really next-level review method! I've watched this video on my Oculus Go and it really felt like i was sitting there opposite of you, felt like a teacher was educating me. Still think there is a lot of room for improvement, when object are too close to the camera, things start to get blurry, as if you are looking cross-eyed. And distant lines become a bit curvy. It does really make me consider buying an EVO. Keep up the good work Ben!
Thanks Frank! Yes it does make you feel like you’re standing there in the video haha. Some of the curvy lines are caused by UA-cam compression- I also uploaded to VeeR (link in description) and everything looks as it should 👍
Thanks for the video, I just got the Oculus Quest 2 and I would like a 3d / 180 '' camera to shoot some nice movies that can be viewed with this headset. From this video it seems that the Insta360 Evo is the better, but I can't find it anywhere, has a later model been released in these 2 years?
Great video Ben, I've been looking for the perfect 360 camera to film my wedding and hadn't heard of the Insta360 Evo, only the Insta360 ONE R following your video I know to buy the Evo, thanks dude
Thanks for the review, it helped me choose my next 3D camera. I’ve had Kandao Qoocam and I was really pleased with it, but as you said, the resolution wasn’t that great. The footage wasn’t really sharp, but 3D effect worked great. The inly problem with this cameras is, you need to film objects quite close in order to get the best results, which is not always possible. It would be great if we could get some kind of optical zoom for those lenses lol. But my next one is definitely gonna be Insta 360 Evo
Hey Ben just a suggestion - I don't think you calibrate this VR180 video so the horizon line is not straight. Maybe use your bubble leveler to keep the camera absolutely level or adjust it in POST in Premiere with Boris BBC VR unit.
Hi Hugh- the horizon looks pretty straight to me.. I kept the cameras dead level while shooting and I never noticed anything unlevel watching back on Oculus Go. I know you’re a perfectionist so sorry if it’s slightly unlevel to you haha
The Vuze tracks the horizon level. When you render the video you get 3 options none , stabilize and horizontal stabilize. Ben didn't stabilize in rendering the vuze walking video. You can hold the vuze at some off angke and later render it level.
@@BenClaremont looks like my unstabilized video from the vuze xr. I'm about to return this camera for many other issues. Its so far just made a lot of what I found out to be blotchy, overcompressed video on UA-cam. Nothing close to what you uploaded.
So, it looks like the insta360 Evo is no longer available from the insta360 store. Any word on if it will be available again? Has it been discontinued?
Really enjoyed this informative comparison on my Oculus GO headset. Really stoked about 180 3D and your videos help a lot. Keep up the great work and producing these 3D videos and tips.
Hi Mr Ben, I just watched your video with an headset and...wow.... astonishing! If I may suggest you something, by the feeling viewing your video, I found a little bit annoying the position I have been set in the scene. I try to explain better: in the scene with the coffee cup, i felt like my head was cut and placed on the table (this means that 3D works veeeeery well indeed!!!); on the scene you walking around I felt like a baby in your arms (nearly kissing you, omg....) and on the balcony I felt crouching on the table. I think that with this ny tecnology is essential to program every scene thinking that the cams are effectively the eyes and the head of the spectator. Thank you again for all your interesting videos!
@@BenClaremont ... but then, it opens a whole new world of experiences. BEING the table is certainly not the most favorable amongst them and we prefer being John Malkovic, but when I see what you've come up with in tiny planet creativity, I'm sure you'll find some interesting perspectives for us in 3D 180 VR as well 😜
hi. this video is such informative for people who want to buy one of this camera... Can you please make such informative video comparison of GoPro Max and Insta360 One R twin edition? I can not still decide which one to buy. (As Qoocam 8K can only shoot 360 video and has no one lense mode I decided not to buy it.)
Ben, good job. I got the EVO two days ago and the first positiv thing I discovered was HDR, just like you! I have the QooCam too and I was happy with it until now. Let's see what the future holds.
Thanks Ben! That is a great comparison! BTW, how can I see that in 180-3D mode...? I have the Gear VR and I've opened the Oculus browser app going into youtube, but any of the 2D/3D/360 viewing options doesn't seem viewable... they mess up the view entirely... The only viewable mode is the simple 2D mode. I'm probably doing something totally wrong... Can you please share some basic instructions how to view this in 3D mode in the Gear VR?
Thanks Koby, so it doesn’t work with the UA-cam VR app??? If not you can always just press the headset icon in the regular UA-cam app and it will convert the video to 3D
@@BenClaremont Thanks Ben! I've managed to see that in 3D now, and it is really mind blowing!! I can even see your shoes under the table :) For some reason the UA-cam VR app was not available for my older Samsung Note5 phone, but when I've switched to my newer Note9 phone I was able to find it, and installed it, and it did the trick! And It is AMAZING! It is just like standing right beside you! Thank you!
Hello, Ben! I find your channel just a few hours ago and impressed with your work!👍 I'm interested, which 360 camera will be the best choise for begining ? As I know, samsung gear 360 2016 is making bad video, but photo is pretty good. Will it be enough for trying to make photos similar to those in your insta?
Ben, great video. This was very helpful for me. I have a request. Now that you've added 3D to your topics covered on your channel, you've got to talk with Misha Photography in Bristol, UK. They have the most high resolution 3D 360 Panos that I've ever seen. The resolution is so good, its as if they've figured out how do 360 3D with a DSLR. The 360 community would greatly benefit from a video that features Misha Photography in action.
I watched your entire video on my Oculus headset. I've been saving for the One X, but then the Evo came along. I'm really intrigued by the idea of a 3D camera, but the 360 stitching almost seems like a deal breaker to me. You are the first person I've heard mention that they are working on the algorithm. I don't want to sit on the fence too much longer...do you think it is work buying the Evo...or do you think I would be better off with the One X? I'm kind of leaning towards the One X, as I would rather have better 360 vs. poor 360 and a 3D option.
If you’d use 3D even 20% of the time then go for the EVO. The 360 stitching is only bad at close distance if you have objects in the seam line. Yes they are working on it and it will get better in the near future. Otherwise see my EVO review to see my thoughts on One X vs. EVO 👍
Thank you for this great review. This is how a camera review should look like. One question Vuze XR has ever improved in its stabilization during walking? At the moment it is very complicated to find a VR 180 3D camera. Is there something coming out or available under 1000 Euros and minimum 5.7K.
I think the QooCam looks better in stabilization when moving. Looks pretty good though even with lower resolution so should be a more affordable option then the other two.
I've had a cheap £5 pair of VR goggles sat in my cupboard for about 18 months now, doing nothing. well worth dusting them off for this! great results, thanks Ben!! loved the review too!
Great breakdown of the three cameras - with one-to-one image comparisons of each. Exactly what I've been looking for! So here's my take: 1) Yes - the manual features and HDR capabilities of the EVO are awesome, the stabilized video quality is not quite so impressive! Sure, it stabilizes - but sacrifices video quality in the process? Tons of pixelated artifacts which I assume is a result of the software stabilization? 2) While the image quality (unstabilized) on the EVO might be better than the Vuze XR - there is a noticeable strobing issue with moving objects on the EVO - most obvious when you move your hands around as you speak. The Vuze XR seems to produce more fluid movement (similar to results you'd expect with higher frame rates). Ideally, the frame rate should be 60fps for good VR quality - but not an option with either of these cameras. Even so, I think the Vuze XR does a much better job with that given the 30fps limitation... somehow. There was no mention of these movement artifacts - but a REALLY important feature to consider. With that... I think my choice would be the Vuze.
I agree... I couldn't see how this was not mentioned in the stabilization part of the video. The 360EVO was just horrible, in this respect. Also with any movement. I also have an interest in extreme close-up shots of the coffee cup. I wish the shots could have been matched better. I find the 360EVO too difficult to look at really close, and it appeared as if the coffee cup was moved (probably just lens) to a "more comfortable" distance so the 360EVO looked better. I'm just not finding the 360EVO good at really close-up shots. The Qoocam seems to do well close-up, and the XR as well. Found the distortion in the table interesting, in the balcony shot, as well. Loved the hard work put into this video. There is a price difference for the 360EVO, but i'm not sure it's the route to go for xtreme close-up material. Viewed this in 3D with my Oculus VR by Samsung.
Thanks for this awesome review. I have been looking for a good camera to produce some vr180 content and your video was very helpful. I just bought the insta360 evo with your link and also received the invisible selfie stick for free :)
Hello, now that you've had these for a while... which is your go to camera? The Insta360 EVO seems like the best but the Vuze XR has a really cool looking design. I know bottom line is the image quality but since they are kind of close I'm just wondering if you find yourself reaching for the Vuze XR because of it's awesome design.
I know I’m late to the party Ben but do you have a 180 3D video sample straight out of both cameras that I can download and play locally through my VR headset? I know it’s a big ask mate.
Hey, I'm thinking to record a soccer game with a 180 Degree camera insta360 evo. Would this give me a flat 180 video of the field ? what do you recommend? thank you
Thanks Mic! Yeah I thought so, however the EVO seems to do just fine without it, and it even appears in photos and videos that don’t need it. Just the option to turn it off is all they need to add 👌🏻
A year on and the Insta360 Evo appears to have been discontinued. Does this mean they're replacing it with a superior model do you think or that there isn't a viable 180 3D market?
Thanks for this! Bonus learning point - watch the point of view distance. Way too close for comfort on the Quest. In the coffee section my virtual chin was on the table about 2 inches from the saucer. And the table had a lot of crumbs lol
The weird thing about the Vuze is that nearby objects seem too big! I've seen in-car videos made on the Vuze where the car and the driver seem gargantuan! Also no adjustable brightness/exposure etc means that it's more likely to overexpose images when shot in a dynamic environment (such as a car). So I ended up going with the EVO, which is much more flexible while still producing good looking imagery.
@@BenClaremont Hi Ben, It is! I'll illustrate my point with some examples. have a look at these in VR and tell me that the interior of the car looks the right size to you! Look at the size of the mirrors, steering wheel, the persons hands, phone etc.. it just looks way oversized to me. Could be the lenses of the Vuze causing it, or maybe the processing software.. I'm not sure. ua-cam.com/video/b3dEuCN8SeU/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/lK-wraddkSI/v-deo.html Maybe it's just me, but nearby things just look like they're too big! And overexposed as well, though I've also seen some passable videos which were filmed in less dynamically challenging situations (cloudy day/evening/night). The Vuze really seems like a cool cam, and I did consider it. It's just that the EVO seems to fit my purposes a bit more. Here's a car video I shot myself (on the EVO): ua-cam.com/video/9bAQSxI-XZo/v-deo.html
Well that's settled then.. The evo it is. Gonna get this in time for summer fun times. Have they done many updates for it? I'll check your channel for videos I guess lol
I own a QooCam, thinking about buying a EVO as well. For me the Vuse looked the best in the walking section even with the movement the image was crisper. Of the two (QooCam and EVO) stablized walking shots I think the QooCam won. Look at your shoulders in the last two. There is some artifacts from the stabilization on both but its far more pronounced and dare I say ugly on the EVO. All other points the EVO did seem to win the day though. Sadly the main reason I want the EVO is for the VR180 Stabilization :/ This is a tough one.
Hi Greg, EVO is definitely best for stabilization.. maybe I didn’t use the best export settings for that shot. See the walking sample I uploaded to VeeR (you can find my profile through the link in the description)
Awesome reviews man, no one else really doing this like you and I've used your advice for purchasing cameras for my work. Unfortunately that was before this so I got the Qoocam, but it's still a great camera in it's own right, definitely a bit dissapointed with the resolution when looking in a headset though.
@@BenClaremont Yeah definitely. For a first foray for the school into 3D/360 content creation I think it's an excellent device, we can always upgrade down the line if need be and I am guessing in a year a camera will exist that will probably be significantly better for a similar price. Thanks again for all the detailed information!
Thanks for posting it on Veer.tv too 👍 I couldn't find a way to watch it on UA-cam in 3D with my Windows Mixed Reality headset, but Veer works. And the differences are hugh, also for checking the sharpness. It looks completely different in a headset! The Evo is clear the winner. No question, the photos and videos looks better than from the other two. Maybe the Vuze could reach the Evo it the exposure would be set to -0.5 or -1 . Seems to record everything brighter.
How is the audio quality between the Vuze XR and the Evo? Also, is there any ability to push the Evo video to an RTMP server via the mobile app? I am wanting to know if this camera can live stream.
@@BenClaremont i did a search today all 3 in the video are no longer for sale.. and yet sp360 is still for sale. and the next step up is 1000 dollars and above
Ergh, it sucks that the evo keeps forgetting its previous settings. Ie. Its not possible to leave the camera in video mode. Nor to keep photo mode in HDR.
Watching this on my Vive Pro headset, I find the Qoocam has the most accurate VR scale. The other two cameras produce footage that makes everything look 80-90% of real-life scale, ie miniature. This is probably why you say these two have the best depth. They also give me more eye strain. I'm guessing the Qoocam has the smallest lens separation, matching my IPD of 58mm more closely. I don't think this can be adjusted in software, as it's a hardware issue. Excellent review, though.
I disagree with you on this point. For me, I would sort them like this: Insta360 EVO then Vuze XR then Qoocam, with Insta360 EVO has the most realistic scale. Qoocam makes me feel small and everything huge around me.
@@beedykh2235 If your IPD matches the Insta360 Evo then that sounds right. That's a problem with these cameras. I don't know how you would retarget the IPD for each individual in these type of videos.
@@nicolacasali8304 So it is a different experience from person to person?! didn't know that. Then, new cameras should include an IPD slider in their builds for adjustments. I know that IPD matters for visual clarity inside the HMD, but would it affect scale too?
@@beedykh2235 The scale is tied to the lens separation. It would be pretty cool if this could be adjusted on the cameras. The only way at the moment is to hack them.
Hey Ben, I just received my EVO, and am playing with it... and was wondering if you experienced that in HDR video mode, that LED lights flash like crazy, when they are static to the eye?
@@BenClaremont veer.tv/videos/evo-hdr-video-led-strip-lamps-flash-wildly-296306 Maybe I was unclear. It's LED lights that are static on say a Christmas tree or an LED light strip that flash in HDR video 180. Have a look at what I mean:
The fact that you filmed it using the views XR, I already knew.....watching on Meta Quest 3 and the XR looks Great....some one needs to do these VS the iPhone 15 with the spatial video
Really cool. Man I think I'll have to take a few more of those stills, they were really enjoyable. Planning on doing a lot of 360 shots at my next shooting match. I've noticed the mobile app has better options for tracking shots, but does not stitch anywhere near as well as the desktop app.
Thanks- I don’t know what the workflow is for TVs but for showing on UA-cam you need the video to be 2:1 aspect ratio. See my video ‘how to shoot and edit 3D’ and let me know if you discover anything further about TVs 👍
I want to thank you for your informative videos. I will be purchasing your tutorial course on 360 video. I am going to purchase an Evo in the next few days. I wanted to see if you have some sort of package deal or something? Tutorial plus camera / equipment bundle or something? I am on the way out the door, but will message you later this evening. Thanks
Of course i will never dislike your video... though i havent got any 360 camera... it just a wishful thinking i will have. Thanks for sharing your experience with 180 or 360 cam. regards.
Great comparison vid Ben. Watched on my phone first then on my oculus go and was pleasantly surprised. Have tried watching vr 180 videos and found they hurt my eyes, especially when action approached too close to the camera, or when item were in the periphery of one lens but not the other, but your vid seemed to get things just about right. Keep up the good work 👍
Is there anyway to download the original file before it was compressed on UA-cam?. To see the real quality of the cameras? I used an on line downloader and was only able to get a 1080p copy, I then transferred the file into the Oculus Go, the video was a bit rough at 1080p and very compressed. The 3D is excellent on all but was also good on the Sony Bloggie 3D around 7 years ago. The selling point is 3D in 180 and 2D in 360. In the shopping centre cafe your photos with the cup were amazing. I did notice the problem on the skyline from the balcony and on the roof of the shopping centre, it was all white and not showing the windows because of exposure. But your HDR photo fixed that. Well when you used the same camera the EVO to video the glass roof was also over exposed and I couldn't see the windows. So they all seem to have an exposure problem in certain light situations. I think the Vuze looks the best in design and quality of what I could see.
I've watched this video on the htc Vive in UA-camVR and then again in VeerVR and it looks better in Veer so you might want to try that. Also you can download the video in Veer but I don't know if it's already compressed.
Do I have to use an Oculus Go headset, or can I use cheap regular 3D goggles and slip my phone into it? Can I view video within insta 360 app or do I have to upload it to UA-cam or some other platform for viewing. I’m trying to make it as easy as possible to film a 360 experience and then view it and share it with friends.
@@BenClaremont I am also curious about the video when viewed in a headset, either an Oculus or Google Cardboard. It seems that if I view 3D content on UA-cam (like this video), it just splits the image into two side by side "square" images, essentially splitting the iPhone display into two halves. This creates a 3D effect, but crops the image into a square, which is kind of weird. My desire would be to have a 16:9 or 16:10 viewing format, so it has more FOV natively, when just looking straight ahead in the headset. I hope this makes sense. Is there a solution in the 3D camera world where the images when viewed have a wider field of view? Please address if there is a difference with Oculus vs Cardboard?
Does any of them record 3D sound properly, meaning if you speak from left or right hand side of the camera or get close to camera and whisper from the right or left side, the watcher will perceive the whisper from the correct side of the headset?
If you have a headset of any kind, I’d strongly recommend you use it for this video. The 3D will blow your mind 🤯

This is confusing. Did the 3D market just evaporate? If I want to shoot VR 3D content, how do I do it?
I wish the camera manufacturers would do this. allowing consumers to have a sample of what sort of image their product puts out is really helpful when trying to decide which product to buy.
I see that you can use HDR mode on the EVO in videos, too! Does that affect resolution?
Ben, your VR180 comparison video and EVO coverage is very well done, thank you. Hi Ben. Great comparison. But don't you think that the Vuze XR image is little bit sharper than EVO's?
Thanks- I found overall they were pretty even, and with high dynamic range situations make the EVO look sharper due to better exposure 👍
i know this is old but it would be great if u uploaded portions of the video tests for those with slow connection speeds.
Will there be a newcomer to this space? Man I need one for my quest 2 vr
Is there any sort of updated video like this? This is 2 years old also are there new 180 cameras out there or coming out? I'd like to get one but I feel like all the options are like 2+ years old or just 360, I'd really prefer to have both options.
Which model is the best 360 camera in 2020 (video quality, easy file creation etc)? Thanks
Well done Ben. Looks great on the GO! Pity the Vuze blows out the highlights cause the colours and sharpness are good. Looks like I’ll be saving for an EVO as my Qoocam’s 4K just doesn’t blow me away like the 5.7K does!
Nice! Yeah the Go really brings it to life.. glad you watched it there. Definitely worth the upgrade 👍
Did you produce this in 4K / 2160p / 2160s? It's fairly blurry like that and I can't tell if that's why the Evo image looks so clunky.
Cheers!
Thanks- yeah figured that out eventually haha. And yeah 180 cams are gonna get crazy good!
Hi Ben. Wonder Vuze XR 360/3D video can be played in new samsung S20 as this phone's resolution is very high and it also supports 8K. Thanks.
This, but I also want it to embrace the smaller footprint in conjunction with flipout lenses like the vuze XR.
Ben@ 7:41 how do you edit on a 3d sign that says pro? Will this video be editable in final cut?
Great video Ben, I've been looking for the perfect 360 camera to film my wedding and hadn't heard of the Insta360 Evo, only the Insta360 ONE R following your video I know to buy the Evo, thanks dude
Great video Ben! I watched it with my little BoboVR headset, I like the effect very much!
Awesome buddy glad to hear it!
Good luck!
Jurgman X Ben did stabilize, but for 180 it’s nowhere near the level of 360 stabilization, nor the other cameras in this comparison.
@@BenClaremont looks like my unstabilized video from the vuze xr. I'm about to return this camera for many other issues. Its so far just made a lot of what I found out to be blotchy, overcompressed video on UA-cam. Nothing close to what you uploaded.
All three cameras are no longer available. Strange, why not?
Do you think in future there will be anything else in this price segment?
So, it looks like the insta360 Evo is no longer available from the insta360 store. Any word on if it will be available again? Has it been discontinued?
Really enjoyed this informative comparison on my Oculus GO headset. Really stoked about 180 3D and your videos help a lot. Keep up the great work and producing these 3D videos and tips.
Thanks Michael, glad you watched it on the Go!
Thanks Antonio, and yes good point, camera placement is important due to how real the experience feels 👍
The coffee cup was way too close to feel comfortable with it. :D
Watching on Oculus Go it looks crazy realistic
Too close
Ben, good job.
I got the EVO two days ago and the first positiv thing I discovered was HDR, just like you!
I have the QooCam too and I was happy with it until now.
Let's see what the future holds.
Hi Peter, great! Yes HDR is awesome. Enjoy my friend
I may have to save up the extra few quid to get an Evo rather than the One X. Thanks!
Thank you!
Thanks @Ben, for the Benchmark review.
Lot to take under consideration.
Thanks Charles 👍
I would add to this comparison more recently Pilot Era. He by the way supports 8K
Edward Daniel I wouldn’t because it’s not a 3D 360 camera for consumers.. which is the point of this comparison
best review of these 180s so far. Ill be getting the insta360 evo. I like the vuze xr for the colour but the Evo has it every where else.
Thanks Lee- good choice! Follow the link in the description for a free selfie stick 👍
Hello, Ben! I find your channel just a few hours ago and impressed with your work!👍 I'm interested, which 360 camera will be the best choise for begining ? As I know, samsung gear 360 2016 is making bad video, but photo is pretty good. Will it be enough for trying to make photos similar to those in your insta?
Thanks- please see the many videos I made about this on my channel :)
Nice- will have to look them up 👍
Thank you! Very helpful!
EVO 👍
Hi Ben, very nice video. Is cool to view with a VR headset. What software / app did you use to edit the video for the end result?
Thanks- this was edited in adobe premiere 👍
Awesome! I watched it back on my $5 headset too and it looked surprisingly decent 👍
Great breakdown of the three cameras - with one-to-one image comparisons of each. Exactly what I've been looking for! So here's my take:
1) Yes - the manual features and HDR capabilities of the EVO are awesome, the stabilized video quality is not quite so impressive!
Awesome- you’re gonna love it!
So awesome! This was my first 180 video in a vr headset 👍🎥😎. The depth is so cool 👍. I feel like I met you in person now lol 😂
Haha yeah it feels super lifelike.. glad you watched with the extra dimension!
I think this video definitely answers your question 😉
@@BenClaremont Just bought Oculus Go and rewatched your video. Very cool! Thanks!
I know I’m late to the party Ben but do you have a 180 3D video sample straight out of both cameras that I can download and play locally through my VR headset? I know it’s a big ask mate.
Great video, very immersive.
Thanks!
Very Helpful, thanks.
This guy is switched on.
Good stuff.
He is
is it possible to airbrush out something on a 360 photo taken with insta 360 evo
Hey, I'm thinking to record a soccer game with a 180 Degree camera insta360 evo. Would this give me a flat 180 video of the field ? what do you recommend? thank you
Great video Ben! Re qoocam black frame it is for stabilization
Rumors of a module for their One R, but nothing set yet.
Ben, can you also cover audio quality in the comparisons? Do any provide spatial audio for 180?
No they don’t.. audio quality is the same
Thanks for this! Bonus learning point - watch the point of view distance. Way too close for comfort on the Quest. In the coffee section my virtual chin was on the table about 2 inches from the saucer. And the table had a lot of crumbs lol
What editing program did you use for this 3d video?
Premiere
The weird thing about the Vuze is that nearby objects seem too big! I've seen in-car videos made on the Vuze where the car and the driver seem gargantuan! Also no adjustable brightness/exposure etc means that it's more likely to overexpose images when shot in a dynamic environment (such as a car). So I ended up going with the EVO, which is much more flexible while still producing good looking imagery.
Interesting
@@BenClaremont Hi Ben, It is! I'll illustrate my point with some examples. have a look at these in VR and tell me that the interior of the car looks the right size to you! Look at the size of the mirrors, steering wheel, the persons hands, phone etc.. it just looks way oversized to me. Could be the lenses of the Vuze causing it, or maybe the processing software.. I'm not sure.
ua-cam.com/video/b3dEuCN8SeU/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/lK-wraddkSI/v-deo.html
Maybe it's just me, but nearby things just look like they're too big!
Thanks Nathan- with Qoocam at least you got to play with 3D before anyone else!
I need to watch this again with a vr headset. Thanks for the stabilization test.
No worries
Do you think that the EVO it's ok to Virtual tours also?
Yes
Thanks for posting it on Veer.tv too 👍 I couldn't find a way to watch it on UA-cam in 3D with my Windows Mixed Reality headset, but Veer works. And the differences are hugh, also for checking the sharpness. It looks completely different in a headset!
The Evo is clear the winner. No question, the photos and videos looks better than from the other two. Maybe the Vuze could reach the Evo it the exposure would be set to -0.5 or -1 . Seems to record everything brighter.
Thanks buddy, agreed!
How is the audio quality between the Vuze XR and the Evo?
Also, is there any ability to push the Evo video to an RTMP server via the mobile app? I am wanting to know if this camera can live stream.
I think the sound is equally average. I’m pretty sure they’ll add live streaming soon 👍
would you think the kodak dual sp360 a good budget entry?
No- that is one of the earliest 360 camera prototypes and inferior in every way in 2024
@@BenClaremont i did a search today all 3 in the video are no longer for sale.. and yet sp360 is still for sale. and the next step up is 1000 dollars and above
Ergh, it sucks that the evo keeps forgetting its previous settings. Ie. Its not possible to leave the camera in video mode. Nor to keep photo mode in HDR.
Yeah- try suggesting it to them in the Facebook group as they’ll most likely listen :)
Hey- no I haven’t noticed that.. all cameras usually have an LED light up when they’re recording but I’ve found EVO’s to be pretty subtle
👍👍👍
Excellent comparison. Thanks! Is there a way to format the images into 16:9 aspect for viewing on a 3D TV?
Thanks- I don’t know what the workflow is for TVs but for showing on UA-cam you need the video to be 2:1 aspect ratio. See my video ‘how to shoot and edit 3D’ and let me know if you discover anything further about TVs 👍
This is the question I'm looking for an answer to too, looking for a decent non vr stereo camera for showing on 3d TV.
You should have explained the windows studio application capabilities of each camera.
Bought the Fujifilm 3D W3 when this one broke - much better.
Also was checking the Sony TD30 - quality is insane, but the price is pretty high!
So with these 3 cameras that are equipped to record 180, do you get better resolution shooting in 180 rather than 360??
It will be slightly sharper
@@BenClaremont Thanks man!
Thanks
Thanks Dan! No I don’t sell cameras or anything.. just my course :)
Of course i will never dislike your video... though i havent got any 360 camera... it just a wishful thinking i will have. Thanks for sharing your experience with 180 or 360 cam. regards.

@@BenClaremont thank you Ben... regards
Keep up the good work 👍
Thanks David! Yeah when it’s not too chaotic I think 3D 180 can be extremely powerful.. almost like you’re standing there in the video 👌🏻
Thank you for your video. Appreciate your work!
🍻
Do I have to use an Oculus Go headset, or can I use cheap regular 3D goggles and slip my phone into it? Can I view video within insta 360 app or do I have to upload it to UA-cam or some other platform for viewing. I’m trying to make it as easy as possible to film a 360 experience and then view it and share it with friends.
Yes any kind of VR goggles will work 👍👍
@@BenClaremont I am also curious about the video when viewed in a headset, either an Oculus or Google Cardboard.
You mean spatial audio? That’s a feature other 360 cameras have, not these.
I have the oculus go headsets .. .how do i view this vid in 3D..i tired it on UA-cam through the headsets, i cant seem to see it 3D
