@truthinelvi He did have to turn down some roles that just didn't represent Japanese swordsmanship in a respectable light as well. Being fair can be hard, yes, I know, but it's the respectable thing to do, especially from one martial artist to another.
@truthinelvi Films are not necessarily a fair judgement of one as a martial artist. Take Bruce Lee for example. I doubt he was proud of being in Blondie, Here Comes the Brides, campy Batman TV show character, and plenty of cheesy Chinese films. As a professional martial artist, involvement in films can be most random. Do check Obata Sensei's involvement in TV documentaries and specials on samurai.
