Curious how I managed to record this soundscape? Read the expedition report and find out: mindful-audio.com/blog/2019/8/8/sound-recording-expedition-to-the-congo-rainforest
It is an excellent testimony, because this world is disappearing. I myself am a musician and do a lot of recordings in nature. Spending hours recording it and listening to it through headphones puts us in direct contact with his soul. It's fantastic. Well done. What is the frequency analyser you put under de picture? Bravo.
I only spent a few days in the Ituri rainforest a few years ago...but this recording is perfectly captured and well edited and I’ll now listen for hours, thank you ~~=
thank you George, this is beautiful I listen to more sounds, rain etc. but I keep coming back to this, so beautiful and relaxed, thanks again Gr Gerard
How frequent are these Rainforest Storms and in which part of the year? Excellent recording! With all best wishes from The Netherlands, one of the most Thunderstorm poor countries in the world.
Hi. Really enjoying your sound work. I have a question that is specific to the video. How are you adding the sound wave at the bottom? Is it with a particular software? Just curious!
This is so amazing, meditative, and immersive! Just curious, was this solely the PCM-D100 mics or you use other mics? Thought I saw you say luhd mics. if so which ones? This is amazing!
Thank you! Back then I was mostly recording with phantom power mics. Iin this case I used a pair of Luhd PM-01 binaural mics plugged into the D100, but they're not really something I'd recommend. For the same price you can get a pair of Lom mikroUsi or Clippy EM172 which will sound way better.
@@GeorgeVlad I thought this recording sounded quite good with the Luhd PM01s. Got any recordings with the Clippy EM172s for comparison? (LOM mics are out of the question because they are never available lol)

you clearly understand what makes life worth living. How lovely.
Thanks you.
The sound of the rolling thunder is the best I've ever heard on my headphones. Wonderful work... Thank you for this.
You're very welcome!
Fantastic!! Just love the sound of tropical thunder with its deep ominous rumbling and the jungle sounds full of insects and birds. . . Great stuff
Couldn't agree more!

Thanks Philippe. The visuals at the bottom are created in Adobe After Effects.
Another awesome recording. Thank you again
This is awesome man... With good source+audio it's like a teleport to the jungle in the middle of the night.
Omg thank you I have saved hundreds of jungle ambience recordings. This is my favorite. Instant sub.
Awesome, enjoy!
Thank you for this, keep up with this work I'll listen.
Another favorite to fall asleep to
Same, I find that mix of tension and calm incredibly relaxing.
Beautiful recording! The D100 does a fine job as usual.
Thank you, yes it does!
George, your work is inspiring, reading your reports while listening to the soundscape transports a person to far off amazing places.
Thank you, good to hear that :)

They happen daily in the rainy seasons, which vary in timing across the Congo basin rainforest.
Thanks a lot for this masterpiece. Loved every second of it. It makes me feel the forest so deeply. Best thunder sounds ever !
Thank you too!
Amazing ! Well done!! 🙂
Thank you! 😊
Love listening to nature and the sound of the rainforest.

I use Adobe After Effects.
The thunder is amazing
wonderful, I am now going to enjoy and sleep for everyone, sleep well, dream well.
😴
which mics do you prefer, Lom mikroUsi or Clippy EM172? best wishes!
They're both great, the Loms are only slightly better (smaller size, better ultrasonic frequency response).
@@GeorgeVlad thank you for your replay! I want to buy those mikroUsi, but it seems imposible! Well, best wishes, thank you again!
No worries, my pleasure. Go for the clippys in that case!
Amazing job and fantastic sound. This is what I am looking for. Where I can buy this one-hour version soundscape? Could not find this in your store?
These soundscapes aren't for sale on my website but get in touch with me and we can work something out: mindful-audio.com/contact

Hi!, did u use some external mic connected to the D100 ? or something extra ? or it was recorded directly to the PCM ?
Nope, this was recorded with the built-in mics.
What is the frequency response of the mics used here?
The mics on the D100 pick up sound up to 70-80kHz but this was limited to 24kHz due to Nyquist theorem effects.
@@GeorgeVlad Too bad they don't go down to 20Hz for the full LFE effect from the thunder
Yeah, I have the MKH8020s for that, they will pair well with 32-bit recorders for loud sources like thunder.
Love it!
Me too!
👏👏👏👏👏
