I made one of those spinner's when I was a kid out of a desert spoon and fencing wire. My much older cousin took me out fishing and when he seen what I was useing he rolled over laughing at me.. well second cast a huge cod would have been over 20lb hit it and I actually landed it.. took the smile off his face...🤣🤣🤣
Hahaha that is so awesome. I remember years ago a kid sent me a folded bottle top with a split shot sinker on it and a set of trebbles. Haha I caught redfin on it.
We used to spin for Redfin with spinners made by Mitchell. They came in pairs right and left spinning so you swapped every so often to untwist your line. They were made in England they were great when trolling. Cheers Steve from Seymour.

Hello mate A lovely session there , I do enjoy fishing with spinners, although the soft baits are slowly becoming popular over here .. we have a fish called a chub which lives mainly in rivers and streams and you can nail them on spinners..... Rob thank you for a great presentation... Hope everyone is well.... SHARK !!!!!! 😱 who mentioned sharks...... 😎🏴
Brings back memories of catching Redfin after Redfin on the banks of Lake Eppalock as a kid using a Dickson spinner. Yellow with black spots. Looking it up up I believe it was the model 1403. As far as I was concerned, it was the spinner for Redfin.
i went to william hovel with my dad brother and dads friend and his son at the start of February and in one day we caught about 16 redfin, biggest one being 33cm, we went there becasue ive seen you go there before. great video once again rob keep it up mate!
Lovely redfin colours and lovely clear water. The lake near my house I can't see a few inches below the surface and the redfin stripes are not as pronounced (you did mention that on one of your other videos). Thanks for posting Robbie.
Thanks mate. One of the petrol stations that I use regularly has an Indian fella working in it. He is cricket mad. Every time I go there we have a bit of banter. Haha
I love this place so much I'm heading back there this winter I reckon. Hopefully I get some action tomorrow morning in Murchison heading out camping. See if I can catch 500 carp instead of 467 carp like Australia day haha
Can U remember the Dickson spinner s I use them back in the early 90s they made orange with black dots around them pluses red ,white pluses yellow with feathers around the hook
Hey Robbie, I need ur help… Today mum accidentally snapped the end of the hot rod that I got at Arcadia for free. It was my trout and reddie setup as it was only 2-4 kilos, now I need a new one, any suggestions? Not too expensive like 150 to 200 would be fine and I really want it like yours that casts ages, even the hot rod didn’t cats that far I don’t know how you do it. Keep up the great work, keep being the amazing person you are, may Jesus watch over you and your family, tight lines brother 🎣🎣🎣🎣
Thank you so much Toby. WOW What a bummer about your rod mate. My advice would be to pop into your local tackle store and see what's on their shelves. A longer rod will cast further. Look for a 7 foot graphite ride in the 1-2kg ranges. Slightly heavier will be OK. Shimano usually have something affordable in that size range.
Robbie, you tried the black magic inline spinner? It's got everything you would want. Feathers on the hook, fake hard fish between hook and blade and the most important thing....a tiny swivel to reduce line twist.
Hey Mick, they are great spinners, and for a while they were the best many years ago but there are a lot of better spinners around these days, just my opinion.
Great video Robbie I love red fin fishing you don’t get them that much in Adelaide so I don’t see or catch much red fin but when I do it’s fun I get mainly big ones here and I have a UA-cam video that I was wondering if you wanted to see i5 of me fishing the title is tuna fishing cape jurvis and the Chanel name is bens footy fishing and gaming

Good little session Robbie
Thanks mate.
What a cracking view and a ten minute Redfin ! Well done 👍🏻
Thanks so much Blaine.
I am always amazed at what small redfin will go after. I have seen them hanging off lures that are almost bigger than them.
They sure are aggressive fish mate.
Well done, and yes I love the red for redfin (hog back lure)
Such a beautiful lake I love going there

The lake must be absolutely full of Redfin. Moving location and changing lure and you still caught them. Job well done.
Thanks Neil, it sure is mate.
Thanks Robbie as always another great video . Enjoyed watching .Catching plenty but wheres the big ones ?? 👍👍🍻🍻
Thanks mate. They turn up from time to time, but definitely not every time. LOL
That was cool! 😁 I like using little spinners with the red stuff around the treble hook, good fun huh 🙂🎣
Thanks mate. It certainly is a tried and proven technique isn't it.

Hahaha good luck mate. I love Lake William Hovell too. Absolutely beautiful lake.
Used to find redfins to be super territorial, hit a school of them and it's near a bite on every cast.
Hi Johan, they certainly do act like that. And when it happens it's so much fun!
Can U remember the Dickson spinner s I use them back in the early 90s they made orange with black dots around them pluses red ,white pluses yellow with feathers around the hook
I definitely know them they were great as I still have I Must give them ago again
Sure do mate. They were great when they spun properly.
I’m still on the mission to catch one of those reddies, keep up the vids
Thanks so much mate.

Nice! Wonder if carp will take the fluro yellow. Better than using worms unless they are under logs on bank.
Thanks mate. Strike Tiger actually told me once that the banana shock was a popular colour for carp anglers in the Canberra region.
