      @rbilleaud 3 роки тому +11

      I can help you out there. When Speer had a knee issue in 1944, Gebhardt was recommended by Himmler to treat his injury. Speer said he got a weird feeling from Gebhardt but allowed him to treat him. Not only did his knee not heal, he began to deteriorate (no specific symptoms were listed but it has been speculated that his vital signs began to decline). As a result, Speer switched doctors and began to recover. The consensus now seems to be that Gebhardt was plotting to remove Speer so that his position as Armaments Minister could be filled by someone closer to Himmler as it was known that Speer distrusted the Reichsfuhrer. Speer was also a close confidant of Hitler, and therefore a potential threat to Himmler's power. In the Byzantine world of Nazi politics this scenario is totally believable .

      Point is, ALOT of people find it hard to swallow facts that indicate their comrades and countries are committing murder while claiming to be liberators.

    I suggest the idea that Karl Gebhardt did not want to save Heydrich's life. Heydrich was ambitious and gaining more favor with Hitler and more power in the SS. Either on his own or by Himmler's command, I think they both were glad to see Heydrich die. Hitler called Heydrich a "perfect" Nazi. With the inner politics that kept every leader in the Nazi guessing, Heydrick was doing everything to look better than Himmler, in Hitler's eyes. We'll never know, but I remember reading that Heydrich had ambitions to take over the SS. And he could have done it.
