That squat probably smells like old wet towels and ashtrays. I bought Arise! in ‘86 . Still love that album. While traveling thru eastern Washington a couple of years ago, I spotted a kid wearing a leather jacket with Amebix painted on the back. I asked him about the jacket and he said it was his mom’s.
I was just listening to a live show of Amebix in Leeds, 1986. Dunno the venue or what exact date, but it's an excellent soundboard recording. Luv that band !
I lived in a squat with Amebix,it was Rob,who is a lovely chap,Chris, who would pose about in front of the mirror a lot and Norman, and yup, they were all posh.A few of the Bristol punks did come from posh backgrounds. And so what!
Never new that, but for sure what ive watched and seen of The baron does seem alittle pretentious about some things, his brother Stig seems the complete opposite now he just reminds me of a true og punk he rules
I love you Davey Bales. I know you are protecting me in spirit. You quizzed me on Amebix and I got an A. Lol you will always be engraved in my memory. Thank you for fighting for me in the spirit with my ancestors I love you man ❤️ tell Fran I said hi and she is a legend!
Amebix got a new drummer named Martin, his parents were rich and owned a manor. when they got home and found out that Amebix had been living there they kicked them out and sent Martin to London... he later had a nervous breakdown and was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia
How many have you been in? All the ones I've seen, including punk houses, have been pretty much clean, at least their living spaces were. If it was a place that had bands play the "common areas" were sometimes a bit dirty but everything else clean for the most part.
Martin's parents put him in an insane asylum after they found out about Amebix living there. In the asylum they pumped him full of drugs and drove him crazy. Apparently the manor was haunted and that also attributed to the breaking down of Martin's mental health. Poor guy.
If you were the same person in your 50s as you were in your teens/20s I'd feel incredibly sorry for you. An entire life with no new experiences and no growth

Scrumpy on tap. I can only imagine what the squat smelled like. I can speak from experience that you need to treat the scrumpy with respect and have a clear run to the bog!
Hopefully he's rotting in jail if he's still proud to be a burglar. OK,so he was 19 at the time and obviously still ridiculously immature, homeless -sort of - (enough money to smoke and booze ) - but if he burgles people he deserves to be hospitalised.
