A lot of fans including me, were trolling RCB for their abysmal performances in the 1st half of the season. The fact that they were able to make such a terrific comeback and qualify was worth its weight in gold.
Forget all the technical sides of the game, RCB were overconfident today. At the end of the day, Gambhir was right. RCB always have so much hype and fan following, they are so popular, that their players and staff hold no accountability. Its eerily similar to our national cricket team. Stardom outrates winning. They have become so used to being one of the richest franchises, that they have forgotten that they have been unsuccessful for so many years.
Gambhir has always been right since 2011 in almost every aspect.
Also since 2015 the trend with Indian viewership in ICC tournaments has always been limited to India dominating the league stage and not winning the trophy.
Especially after Dhoni got those 3 ICC trophies, we and BCCI have been thoroughly content and started believing that we have achieved everything in cricket.
-No team has ever won an IPL with part time spinners apart from 1 exception.
-No team has ever won IPL from 3rd or 4th position (i.e. not finishing top 2) since beginning of playoffs rules, apart from 1 exception.
-No team has ever lost an IPL knockout game after scoring a 100+ opening partnership, apart from 1 exception.
These things just don't happen, they are rarest of rare things. But all of them happened on one night - the 2016 IPL final. Everything, I repeat everything was in RCB's favour that season that night, but they defied all odds to just choke in the most incredible way and gift the trophy to SRH that year. Classic chokers RCB🙂

How long are you going to second guess Andy Flowers' mistakes? You should be talking at length about Sanga Sir, his ace bowling lineup. His clever use of unknown talents from India and overseas. The way he has taught the team to painstakingly win from every corner, with lots of practice from those three close losses..

Have always been a fan of NZ players and am always amazed with their planning and execution. Trent Boult set the tone of the game with the spell of the tournament to Virat and Faf with 3-0-6-1 in the powerplay. The fields set were brilliant and he executed well under pressure.
The way Tom Kohler Cadmore is batting and his stats in last 6 months are a reflection of his form, RR are best suited to open with Samson and treat the situation as a 0-1. RR are heavily dependent on Parag and Samson and Hetmyer and Powell are being pushed down the order to play last 30 balls in the death. It would be best if they use one of WI blokes to be the fire cracker and provide them 16-20 runs in middle rather than push Jurel and Ashwin up the order. Currently Ashwin is their 3rd most confident batsman. It was good to see Jaiswal bat today and provide some assurance

I agree he hadn't been able to see the team through the winning line. But it's also unfair to think that he deliberately decided to not give his best on Finals. He himself wouldn't be proud of that either and would be much gutted than you and I on that November night. We can watch as many WC finals as we could till we die. But as a player, they only get few and he'd be having much tough time to get over it too. Heartbreaks are heartbrakes.. He's been unlucky, yes. But never looked like a guy who took the opportunity for granted..

Rcb has to realize that with their auction strategy and team selection, they can reach playoffs. But to win the tournament, they need better fast bowlers and spinners. Good sign for them is they now back up their players for some games.
