Very true for today’s stars. With brand endorsements keeping them afloat apart from movies they need to look the best at all times. If not fans, the brands might not be very happy with a sloppy looking star they put their money on. Like you said Rajesh Khanna or Meenakumari didn’t have to bother much as they just had to look the part they played on screen. That made fans, directors and producers happy.
These superficial aspects don't mean much when someone like Parineeti had most of her prominent roles before the "makeover" while Vidya Balan who might not be considered "stylish" by conventional standards still gets to do meaty roles.
Nice compilation. But I wish someone will turn this trend on its head. Because not everyone has to be fashionable. And keep breaking stereotypes to widen the horizon for the rest. Maybe some do like Vidya Balan, Anushka Sharma.
Parineeti is totally correct. However much people emphasise that it's only "acting" that u need to do right to become an actor holds true no more. Being presentable on n off screen is equally important. Movies are larger than life n so projecting loud is imperative. Pari is an exceptionally talented actress bt initially she got criticized for being overweight and not paying so much attention on clothes n styling. So she changed it for herself and now I feel she is back with a bang.
Thats what Bollywood is about nowdays.Only style and no substance.I am not complaining but if your longetivity in the industry is based on what following you have or how you look infront of the media then it tells you how fucked up things have become.
can having acting coaches become a trend in the industry?
Ah! If only those who need it, could understand this and change their priorities for the better!
Your comment deserves a zillion likes!
That would be helpful
That would make the world a better place but who needs a better place
Oh yes, why can't they become a trend?
Yes!
What a well-done video. From crisp animations to Anupamas comforting voice to the mini cuts from the stylists . Great job.
Karan Johar is definitely very stylish.... Most simple directors I've ever seen is Raju Hirani and Imtiaz Ali....
me css yes, that's why he has long shifted from his primary goal.. making good movies. Stupidest narcissistic person.
Parineeti: I liked her before as well , but no one can deny style and glamor have added that missing element for her to become the best.
WHAT A VIDEO. Well Done, Film Companion. This was amazing
Keep these video essays coming! Would love to see more critical ones and opinion pieces with arguments, to make sense of the popular culture in India.
Styling is a really technical job. We ha e to study the star's personality. RIP to my masters.

It's good as its short!
This is such a well made video.
Sometimes I wonder - why the hell did I do Engineering?! These stylists are making 50000 bucks for putting together one look!
only those who are at top of their game...
Bilal Asghar 50 k for one look is quite steep and it just requires an aesthetic sense.
