Hip-Hop X Siempre | Documentary | Amazon Music

- During Hip Hop’s 50th anniversary, Amazon Music explores the intersection between Latin and Hip-Hop, the two most powerful movements influencing youth culture today. This documentary, executive produced by Jessy Terrero, one of the most influential Urban culture directors with a long history of bringing the two worlds together, will look to the past to remember and celebrate the Latinos who were a foundational part of Hip-Hop.
Artists from the East to the West Coast and the South - all the way down to Argentina - who have shaped Hip-Hop’s story in diverse and significant ways, reflect on what the movement means to them on a personal level. We’ll hear from legends like Fat Joe, B-Real, N.O.R.E., and Residente, to the newer voices on the scene including Eladio Carrion, Myke Towers, Snow tha Product, Villano Antillano, Trueno, Alemán and more.
Here's how they’re reinventing this art form and continuing to inspire the next generation of artists and fans. Where will the movement go next? One thing is certain - Hip-Hop has never played by any rules, so anything is possible.

Hip Hop is black music culture
THIS WHOLE DOCUMENTARY IS TETHER BABBLE.AND NOT ONCE DID I SEE ANYBODY IN THIS VIDEO GIVE A THANK YOU TO FOUNDATIONAL BLACK AMERICANS FOR CREATING THE CULTURE THAT THEY MADE A CAREER & FEED THEIR FAMILIES WITH.AND LATINOS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CREATION OF HIP HOP.WE CREATED IT,THEY JUST JOINED IN.
Lol,it started in Cuba hundreds of years ago,White Spaniards & Africans..I wear gold teeth because,my grandparents & their parents wore them but most blacks think it's their style... ridiculous, people need to read more & study history. Most blacks think they invented FRENCH braids too.Fact is we all borrow from each other & none of that matters, only to racist people.
@@TakeNoShitgang444 You don't understand music...hip hop MUSIC is based on samples of funk music, mainly created by James Brown, who is from Georgia. Racist, colonizing, imperializing white Spaniards had absolutely nothing to do with the creation of hip hop. The fact that you would even say that is so ignorant but not shocking.
@@bryanbarnes9204 i'm black but who am I racist against?
@@TakeNoShitgang444 "Racist, colonizing, imperializing white Spaniards" was the subject of my sentence. I never accused you of being racist, nor do I care if you consider yourself black. The white Spaniards in Cuba were racist, and neither they nor the enslaved Africans on that island had any type of part in the creation of hip hop. James Brown and the other brothers responsible for funk and blues music were not Cuban. I respect Afro Cuban music, but hip hop's foundation isn't built on the Cuban sound. The main intersection between FBA music and Afro Cuban music would be Dizzy Gillespie and the bebop sound, which influenced Cuban artists.
Pun always honored black Americans even kissed the hand of one of his idols so the mc big pun always honored the real founders
No mention of the BLACK SPADES or DISCO KING MARIO , KOOLDJDEE, DJPHASE AND BRONXDALE/ROSEDALE PARK ????????????

I have a documentary saved about him.

I don't like the way this documentary try to erase the black experience from hip hop.
You must've watched another documentary then. They elaborated on the pioneers, dropped a bunch of legendary names. Is Kool Herc Hispanic? Is Bam Hispanic? Cold Crush was all Hispanic? I mean my question is how vast is your knowledge of Hip-Hop to begin with? Because I just saw 1 side telling their story of origin, not trying to replace you, so what's the problem?

It was just Black🇺🇸 Culture given a name "hiphop" but Let's start at 1971-75 in the Bronx..cause Latinos were not breakdancing early 70s..Everything showed in this doc of latinos was in the 1980's..
Stop the myth so called hip hop did not start in NY, that’s a fairytale. So called hip hop is Black culture started in Black communities across America and not in the 70s, stop the myth
@@undisputedtruth6176 hip hop did start in nyc elements alone arent hip hop
Correct 💯
NOBODY was Brake Dancing in the early 70's. But when it came about in the mid 70's, Puerto Ricans and West Indians were doing it too. Late 70's people considered it played out, but mostly Puerto Ricans kept it alive and they took it to a whole new level. Everybody deserves respect for what they brought to the game.
What makes you disrespectful houseguest is your continual overlooking of the actual creators ,foundational black Americans.💯
Foundational black American? A Haitian?
BIGFACTS💯
Facts
EXACTLY!!!!
You mean Black Caribbeans?
“Latino who were a foundational part of hip-hop” Black Americans create the basis and principles and Latinos are guest in hip hop! Is this how my ancestors felt when Europeans tried to claim the foundation to jazz!
This is crazy what they are attempting to do!!
This is what happens when someone uses their skin color as a defense mechanism against what they can't stand to be a reality. Imagine how foolish I would sound saying someone is a guest, when they help me lay bricks to the very foundation of my building. No! Unacceptable, & believe me I'm sure you know there are Afro-Latinos with darker skin than you, correct? Sorry about the way your ancestors were treated, but 1. How tied-in are you to your lineage/history? (Is it for personal gain or attack via comment sections) 2. If you're mad @ the Europeans (which you have all the right to be) you should go back & do some learning my love. You also had a hand in selling your own people to European merchants for provisions, so split up that anger. & of course 3. The anger you have is understandable. At the same time, remember that we all share the world, & all have our history. Not only Africans were enslaved, but I'm sure that's the only history you care to elaborate on. That's ok, but here's something to think about ... Even if not necessarily in your case, but in general. How come us Latinos speak our language in unison? & are very proud of our heritage even happy to distribute our culture throughout the world? What I've seen lately is a lot of black skin behind these complaints, & 9 out of 10 don't know a lick of African dialect 🤔 plus if you're truly this angry with what you consider an "invasion to your culture" by all means, my only advice is don't be such a transparent hypocrite when you're viewed indulging in everyone else's.
@@akhooba151 What exactly did Puerto Ricans create in Hip Hop 🤔
@@melanatedwarrior3530 where did you examine me use the word "create"? I said we were there from day 1, & contributed. But let me state the obvious: we don't know one another, so why ask you to take my word for it? Watch your pioneers speak on it, & see if what they say is similar to what I'm saying. Sure I've used this example before, but Lord Jamar, sure you've heard his opinion on Em & white rappers (guests in Hip-Hop, etc.) Now if you watch Drink Champs, see if Lord Jamar's opinion sounds the same when asked the same regarding Latinos. Only 1 example, but listen to a plethora of legends speak, because you with that gatekeeper machine mentality. Listen to KRS tell it then, unless he ain't Hip-Hop enough. Blacks created it, Latinos made contributions. Contrary to belief, that isn't a self-proclaimed statement
@@akhooba151There were only a few....they came into Black spaces.....it's Black American Culture. Why is it hard to say that?
Why no mention of ricans in the 70s calling hiphop "jungle bunny music" ???

🆘This is theft being committed right under our noses. Back when rap was new, most, Puerto Ricans hated our black American guts, especially their parents.💯
Big Factz!
There's backlash towards your Brethren!
Do people not know about the lynching of Latinos, Segregation, do people not know that they are modern day slaves & were in the past also, do people not comprehend that they're Hebrew Israelites also, within the 12 Tribes!
THAT'S why The Most High said there would be ignorance and knowledge, loss of our true identities, there would be eyes but they do not see, and have ears but they do not hear.
Yes, it seems our people are lost for lack of knowledge and understanding..😢
Even their DNA 🧬 shows they come from ABBA-Original people, except that the "conquistadors" rap-ed, killed many, & enslaved the remainder who they violated, and when there was independence from the colonists the Afro, Indigenous And Mestizos, Criollos & such abolished slavery & welcomed Black slaves as the Brethren we are. All Praises to The Most High Creator YAH(AHAYAH/YAHUAH)!❤
It is sad, but even within a Tribe blacks are killing blacks, Latinos killing Latinos that's how Esau's Edomites set up this evil kingdom. Next kingdom belongs to the Chosen..

Thanks from Argentina!

As a Latino in Hip Hop I think this documentary is incomplete, it is ignoring the real history and origins of the movement. Hip Hop is black culture. Latinos, we happened to be the next ones in the chain of appropriation sort of speak. Yes, we the Latinos are important in the history of Hip Hop, but we did not create it. On the other hand, that interview of the rappers from Medellin, they're the last generation, in the 80's and 90's there were many underground rappers, and also Hip Hop productions that are the ones that started the culture in Latin America. Instead of interviewing Farina, the should have had interviewed rappers like La Etnnia, or Rulaz Plazko, or other Rappers in Latino America that were already important in the early 90s. Anyway, the story still needs to be told how it is.
