They were trying to avoid having the starters possibly getting injured, so that's why they weren't scoring more at the end. I think Shanahan was smart to do that.
100%. The biggest enemy the 49ers face right now is the injury bug. If they stay healthy, its a wrap for the rest of the league. Did you notice the facemasks/hits they were giving CMC? He was even asked about this during the postgame interview.
Injuring the 49ers is the only way to beat them.
Absolutely, as nice as the 14-17 extra points we could have got with our starters, I'm glad shanahan went the safe route, since the game was over after the 3rd.
@@eman610 no joke. I definitely noticed them trying to hurt CMC. If injuries hadn't happened last season, I think it would have gone so differently in the NFCCG. If these Niners stay healthy, they are going to be unstoppable. The o-line did an excellent job protecting Purdy in the game against the Cowboys. I definitely think the Eagles will be a tougher game, but I think the 49ers have a chance to win.
