- Power Linemen are one of the top 10 most dangerous jobs in the country. Although millions of people depend on power every day, very few actually consider how the electricity gets to their homes. This is a dedication to those men and women who risk their lives daily to provide us all with Electricity.
NSUJL is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting families of fallen/injured IBEW Journeymen Linemen, Utility Linemen, Apprentices, Groundmen and Operators. www.nsujl.org

That high line transmission work is bad ass. It makes distribution work seem like child play. Living the high life. Gloves and grounds. Tight lines
+Ray Osteen , Worked as a lineman for 36 years and I can tell you distribution work is far more dangerous then transmission work.
Edward Evans how is it more dangerous? I'm not trying to argue with you cause I've only been doing distribution work for 12 years. I definitely understand the trouble shooting side could be more dangerous, but what else?

Enjoyed, never thought when I started in this trade 42 years ago I would see anything like this. So nice to see though. Still climbing, just not as fast as I could when I was young.
im 17 and im at delaware career center for power line technician honestly cant wait till im actually doing line work as my job. i love the physical and mental strength this job needs and the fact you/we help so many people even though not all see its just amazing the amount of people yall help daily!!
been in lineman school for a quarter, and so thankful I finally found a career I can take pride.

* Power Quality Analysis
* Installation of main breakers to 5000A.
* Live installation of sub breakers 480V
* PM of up of 480V to 15KV switchboards
* Trouble-shooting of any EDS
* Infrared Thermography
* Arc Flash Risk Assessment studies
* Coordination studies
* Single Line Diagrams
* Ground testing
* Most any other electrical tests to 15KV
Must be comfortable using PC and controlling various tests via PC-based softwares and be able to transfer data to data boxes or by email.
And there's not a single job I would do instead of it, I love being a liney

Decent slideshow. The music makes me sick, and the, 'Because fireman need heros' is an awful, disgraceful, saying that should have never been brought up. Maybe lineman are out in the elements at all times of the year, but we don't run into burning buildings to save children. I'm disgusted every time I see that.
