Yes excellent foraging knowledge.. Best in the spring when the tree is taking up water for its leaves, so loads of time for people to research. Never done it, always wanted to try though, maybe next year. You will have to do a video on it when the time is right and a taste test for us all.
I've done this before. I used a little drill, made one hole, put a clear plastic tube inside and attached the other end to a discretely hidden demijohn. I made birch sap wine. I wish I'd tried it straight from the tree, unadulterated. Oh, and i plugged the hole afterwards with a piece of wood from the same tree.
@@theclumsyprepper The beautiful Spruce. The highest strength to weight ratio than any other tree in the world. Good wood, lots of applications 👌 but I'm sure that after watching this video, you will start noticing silver Birch trees here and there now mate 👌👊💜👊

Now that's a route I attempted a few years back. Tiny collins book on mushrooms. Learned a bit. The fact that you generally only find specific mushrooms around specific trees does help cut down the guesswork, made it easier, but overall, I shyed away because you make one mistake and you become a vessel for fungi 👍😃 I do need to brush up on that. The relationship between fungi and the rest of the living world is utterly mind blowing.

The birch bark is a good fire starter.
@@anonet78 it's a great tree. Many uses. You can do a lot with that bark, but I'd only go down that root with fallen or felled trees. 👊💜👊
