i just saw these guys still touring, last night. its summer 2024! they were having hits in the early 1960s
Original Vogues were Bill Burkette , lead singer ( died in 2018)
Don Miller ( died last year in 2021)
Hugh Geyer,
And Chuck Blasko.
Loved those 4 back in the day......music from legendary singers and these 3 do a great job of the songs.

That was a fantastic performance they should be inducted into the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame!
For one hit wonder ?
They were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame back in 2001. If that counts. It's a much lesser known honor but an honor nonetheless. For what it's worth, it was also the last time all 4 members were together on stage singing (after 3 decades). I have lots of photos from the event. It was amazing.
@@mattg1611 The Vogues had at least 7 songs (maybe more?) that charted over the years. And we have a few gold and platinum records hanging on walls amongst the family. I wouldn't exactly call them a "one hit wonder". But indeed their ability to stay popular was more short lived than some groups, unfortunately.

The Vogues are from Turtle Creek PA. I'm from only a short car ride from there, right outside of Pittsburgh.
None of these guys are the original members, but they do a pretty good job
Let's clear this up for others who care. I'm a family member of one of the original Vogues.
Chuck (not in this video) is the only original member continuously performing (as of 2023) and is legally confined to 14 counties in southwest PA (court order). So you won't see him outside of there. The other original Vogues are retired (Hugh) or sadly passed away (Bill, Don).
Any good or bad feelings aside, Troy (performing with the group in this video) legally owns The Vogues trademark. They can legally call themselves the Vogues nationally. The Truth In Music Act came after the trademark agreement (in fact the Vogues situation played a role in passing that act). But the trademark had already legally changed hands and is grandfathered out of the requirement to have an original member.
That said, Troy's lineup puts on a great performance. They are great guys, great showmen, who work hard to keep the Vogues music alive. Give them a chance. Let them expose new generations to this music. They work hard to carry the torch and have Hugh's (and Bill's) blessing to perform.
Chances are you will see some version of Troy's group performing live outside of Chuck's territory. They can also make their own new recordings as the Vogues, including songs that the original Vogues once sung.
I have nothing bad to say about Troy. I've spent time hanging out with his band when Bill and Hugh came out of retirement 2008-2013. But I will say they do need to be careful with how they sell themselves (since no original members). Technically they aren't allowed to say that their voices are on the original recordings when performing live. Owners of the music masters and owners of the trademarks (which can be different entities like in this case) all legally have rights to the music and can do whatever they please in line with the law (as fortunate or unfortunate as that may appear to fans). Original members often have no say in the matter. The music business is complicated. Legal issues are even more complicated. Nonetheless, this is show "business". It's a business. The performers need to put dinner on the table just like everyone else. Bill, Hugh, Don, or Chuck did not get rich from the Vogues. Neither does Troy (yet bless him for keeping it alive). In fact, nobody got rich in those days except the managers, the record companies and/or anybody with a massive legal team.

Thank you for the very informative post. I am a huge fan of The Vogues and yes I understand this new group is keeping the music alive, but not one is an original member and that for me is hard to take. I’ve heard them on a few interviews where they try to come off as the original members and thats not right at all. Nice to hear from an original family member and hoping that Chuck and Hugh are doing well these days. Rest In Peace Bill and Don.

Great post , and sadly as you know , the Vogues are one of many bands from that Era, that this has happened to. Platters ,Drifters , Coasters , just a few examples. I give Stan credit , he went out and got Hugh , then Bill to add legitimacy to the group. They sounded great then , and this version of the group sounds great now. Glad to see these guys are keeping the sound alive.

Something is wrong I was just at The Happy Together your in Moorestown N.J. and the giys who were performing as The Vouges were not these guy. Whats the deal you have to tell tickets buyers that these are not the original Vouges and then they show pics of them young and its not them at all.

That's surprising , these are the guys holding the rights to the name. Although none are original members. Troy's dad Stan had the rights for years .He followed Terry and Beth Brightbill. Royce Taylor was with all three leaders. Chuck Blasco can go out as the Vogues in certain counties , or as Chuck Blascos 5 o'clock world. If it said the Vogues and it wasn't them , that would be very strange.
Its not free you have to pay 20 dollars shipping. These companies have to stop saying FREE and the government is going to have to start suing to stop them.
These aren't the original Vogues...but what are called the "legal" Vogues...ones that legally own the name a lot of these groups aren't the real members

Did Huckabee just say the music that you guys had made ???..Either he doesn't know the truth or he doesn't care-it's good for his show but really, let's be honest here...These guys are not "The Vogues" that made all those great hits ...
I'm ok with singers performing under an established name as long as they own the trademark -- which is the case here -- as long as they don't pretend to be the actual original members. No original members in this video.
