- Ethiopia is the latest African country to begin transitioning to green public transportation by introducing electric buses. A new fleet of Chinese-made electric buses hit the streets of Addis Ababa earlier in April.

As long as you have the instructure to support it. Idea is great BUT even in the US, EV sales has tanked due to overall infratructure issues
But let's ask why Ethiopia needs to introduce more busses into its public transportation network. In 2015, Ethiopia borrowed huge amounts of money from China to have a light rail system built that was supposed to solve all of the public transportation needs in its capital city, Addis Ababa. Today, the system is in shambles and nearly non functional because of mechanical failures from substandard materials and construction practices. Ethiopia is now saddled with crushing debt to China that it can never repay, just as China intended from the beginning. Debt-trap diplomacy at its best.
