Project Farm did an independent test/study on penetrating oils, Kroil is good but is actually outperformed by Liquid Wrench. Liquid Wrench is also far cheaper.
Just found your channel. new sub. Thought it was my hydro boost leaking, but gearbox/pitman arm seal pissing bad. Thanks for calling out the wrench sizes. I'm old(64) but after watching your vid I think I can handle it myself, I do have a lift ;) I flush my fluid every 30K. Cheers
For anyone doing this, you need to stabilize the steering wheel so it cannot rotate, most people use the seatbelt. If the steering wheel rotates beyond the clockspring range, it will break and you have a pain in the a$$ project on your hands.
Hopefully you have better luck than I did with my 04 lly. Installed 2 different red head steering boxes and both had different issues. Put stock one back in and no problems.
Bout to put one on my 05 2500hd, I've been reading online that the 2500HD are always 3 master splines, has this been the case with the ones youve worked on?
@@DIYDiesel I was wondering about that, im replacing the pitman arm, idler arm, the idler arm mount and both tie rods at the same time and was wondering if I couldnt just order 3 spline anyways and convert it even if it was originally 4 spline, seems like the splines have nothing to do with strength if the 1500's have 4 and HD only has 3
@@DIYDiesel was that for your personal truck if so how you like it im in the middle of building up my front end and never even seen blue top till your video
Guessing this is much simpler on a gasser too. I got a hard to the right steering issue when I am at parking lot speeds or sitting still. I'm going to try to bleed the system first, if that doesn't fix it it's gearbox time I already know lol. Do you have to have the truck running when you're moving the wheel from left to right? I'm going to put it up on jack stands in the front and try to do it that way.
I can truthfully only speak for what research I have done, and the blue top we currently have. I wouldn’t even think of red top (redhead) I would just order a blue top, if I didn’t want to spend the money on the PSC 👍
@@DIYDiesel thanks, and how does that kryptonite pitman arm feel did it help tighten things up as well? I'm thinking of getting the same sit up for my Silverado 1500
@@sean.g4516 it did amazing. You also have to make sure your idler arm is in good condition because you could do all that, and then have a bad idler arm. Possibly seeing no improvement.
Luckily the power steering fluid that my old gearbox was leaking acted as a lube for all my bolts. Made the job much easier lol
Same lol

Looking forward to that review! The steering in my 03 is sloppy and I’ve been looking at getting a blue top. Awesome video as always!
Thank you! It will be up next week for sure 👍
After my nasty comment. I need to follow up with a thank you. Very detailed video, appreciate the tool sizes provided.

I’m surprised he didnt mention that, because that’s literally the most important part when disconnecting the steering shaft lol
Hopefully you have better luck than I did with my 04 lly. Installed 2 different red head steering boxes and both had different issues. Put stock one back in and no problems.
Ya I’d stay away from red head. If this blue top fails we are just going straight to PSC
@@DIYDiesel I will be waiting on a review. Lol
@@lucasseymour869 lol next week 👍
Great video bro
Thank you! 🤘🏼

Yes they are 3 spline. Unless you order a PSC that will be a 4 spline so you will have to get a 4spline pitman arm 👍

Hey brother I’m looking to get a great box for my lb7 did you recommend the blue head ?
Whats te difference between blue top and readhead?
To be honest I can’t speak on it I have no clue I just went with them due to customer service

What size tubing for the flush hose? 3/8"?
How long did this job take doing it alone?
A couple hours
How much do you charge for installing my gearbox for hummer h2 2003
Let's go!

The process is pretty much the same as the ifs is across all there trucks.
We had the truck running when bleeding/flushing it yes.
Blue top still good my guy?
Absolutely 👍
BP blaster is better
If that’s what works for you 👍 keep using it.
@@DIYDiesel lol Im just trolling you lol heheheh
@@buddyrebel_Garcia lol gotcha hard to tell sometimes

Shut up with the penetrating oil commands, please.

Crazy to pay 35$ for some spary lube, rip off
🤣
Video could have been half as long if you ease up on the constant penetrating oil commercial.
Part of when you gain a sponsorship 🤘🏼 wouldn’t take it back I met, and worked with some amazing people when I was doing that sponsorship.
