guys, I'm from Italy, 00:11 right now, I don't know why I'm watching this but... hell yeah, this is just incredible, the passion he puts in his work it's huge, I could stay hours listening to him, great job mr Woo!
The school system in Australia must really want good teachers, as this guy really engages his students. Here in Scotland, the system doesn't want teachers who can actually educate. Instead, they want teachers who have massive egos and peacock around displaying their vast (supposedly) mathematical knowledge to students, teachers who concentrate solely on the top students and leave the others to drown in a sea of confusion, as it's an easier job for your £35 k a year. Teachers here disgust me so much I feel like becoming a tutor. I tried to get into teacher training, but they saw that I actually GAVE A CRAP about educating students. It's kind of sad that schools put too much emphasis on the correct method and learning by wrote instead of employing your intelligence to FIGURE OUT the correct answer. I can hear Richard Feynman turning in his grave.

In "Py-THA-go-ras", yes, the stress is on the "THA", but in "Pythagorean" the emphasis can shift to give us "Py-tha-GOR-e-an". I've also heard it as "Py-tha-go-RE-an", although there is semi-emphasis on the "tha" in that case, a little closer to what you may have been thinking. It's just a quirk of English that sometimes it prefers emphasis on different syllables with connected words, because it makes the word sound more pleasing or balanced, or because it makes the word easier to say. For example - "Benefit". We say "BE-ne-fit", stressing the first syllable. But if we make a longer word from this such as "Beneficial" we say "Be-ne-FI-cial". We don't retain the emphasis on the "BE" at the beginning and "BE-ne-fi-cial" would sound unbalanced. Or with the word "Interpret" - we say "In-TER-pret", but if the word is extended to "Interpretation", the usual pronunciation would be "In-ter-pre-TA-tion". There's no hard and fast rule for this, and it's something that you simply have to learn. There is a little more leeway with words of a foreign origin, and that would include a Greek name such as Pythagoras. In any case, I hope that whatever the pronunciation, the theorem itself is well understood!
I wish you were my school teacher back in school.

Thanks, my 9 year old son learned a lot by watching your video!
Impressive grasp.
Only someone similarly knowledgeable in their field:
as Richard Feynman was, can teach with such passion.
Thank you for being a pro.
It could also be called a 'Pythagorean Triple'
Wow, the circles do work indeed, I just tried it
-> (a/2)^2*pi+(b/2)^2*pi=(c/2)^2*pi
-> (a/2)^2+(b/2)^2=(c/2)^2
-> a^2/4+b^2/4=c^2/4
-> a^2+b^2=c^2
Me too tried, and man was I shocked that it worked!
Great stuff. Really nice
im so enjoy the lecture lol
Fantastic explanations
I hope i see you in australia,i‘m sooooo happy
Thanks for uploading in 4K! I can use my monitor properly now
stop boasting

Hey, at least the SQA don't treat Maths as badly as Computing Science. Now THAT, my friend, is a big mess.
Here in my country they didn't even know Math... Or rather they just know more than their students.
Feynman's lecture on "the relationship between mathematics & physics".
He lays it out, so poetically.
It's the same in each country lol
I'm from India and Mathematics teacher as well... like your video.
thank you so much. was very helpful
Mr. Woo. Pls come to Adelaide and teach us there

The good old easy days of maths...
I just tried it out and holy cow, half circles _do_ work.

I never noticed why you dissected the b square. Did I miss it? I'm terribly curious!
The dissection happened in the previous part.

IN A RIGHT ANGELED TRIANGLE: a squared + b squared = c squared, why do teacher never stress the most important part.
