I think I'll never cease to be amazed by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka vocal acting, the man goes from MC to Husbando material to Teacher, to Cook to Psycho to Boar
1:19:22 Rem says "I love you" to Subaru but she says it as "Aishitemasu". In Japanese, there are mainly 3 ways of saying "I love you" to someone and each one has a bit different intensity. The first way is by using "suki", the second one is by using "dai-suki", and the last one is by using "aini" or "aishiteru". 'suki" means love and "dai-suki" basically means a lot of love or big or large love. Aishiteru is like the most intense way of saying "I love to someone" and is mostly used by married couples or people who are really close.
I have always considered "suki" to be something you say to someone youre interested in romantically. Like a teen confessing she has a crush on someone.
People calling him stupid, should really look at it in his perspective. They know full damn well they wouldn't think like a calculator in that situation, yet they call him stupid for making rash decisions in the heat of the moment. Imagine you're him and you know full damn well the villager's and many others were gonna die who wouldn't want to save them? and given how many times he's died and what he saw most people would have already broken down, some people really tick me off thinking they'd do better when they damn well wouldn't
Same, I usually find people being too harsh on Subaru's sudden outburst and even his "cringe moment". That cringe step he had through all of it actually makes loads of sense. Unable to share anything he's going through, actually saving everyone while enduring the most of worst shit but can't tell anyone about it, his power going way over his head, all of those emotions are very humane when you look at it. Nobody could still be sane after seeing your friends, "family" die, especially a few of the "village's endings". And I think the anime did a really good job at showing how much all of it affected him in the long shot.
It's frustrating but the reactions of detractors are very human in a different sense: most of the time these are people who recognize these faults in themselves but do not wish to acknowledge them. Viewers having the benefit of watching from the outside also makes it harder for them to empathize with a realistic flawed character because they are used to watching unrealistic characters in this medium. What ends up happening is that when confronted with something ugly that they could see in themselves, it's easier to shake your head and reject it than realize you'd almost certainly do worse than him.
This debate was already discussed for a long time years back when this series first released. It always came down to the same thing: “Every person is different, and given what they know and how they feel, every person is entitled to make their own decisions given the circumstances they are given.” Some people argued that they wouldn’t find themselves in these scenario’s from the get-go, and some argued that they’d do this or do that. The right and wrong answers are only justified after the outcome has been given. All we can do is make our own inferences and make do with our own sense of what is right and wrong. That is exactly what was portrayed in this anime, and many people refused to accept that fact because of the many immoral feelings we felt as viewers. For instance, Subaru interrupting a political campaign and slandering a knight’s honor was disrespectful to us as viewers, but some would argue that to do so is what a prideful man would do for the one he respected. Who decides who of the two sides is right or wrong in the end? The viewers alone. Subaru made his choice given his situation for who he is as a person, and that is all that can be said.
Considering Subaru is supposed to be a random average person, it's in fact very beautiful and commendable to see him make rough choices. Dying is moft often than not associated with pain. He's died multiple times, in gruesome life threatening scenarios that should leave any man or woman broken. Yet, he pushes through, against all odds and human psychological and moral standards. He falls, he stumbles, but he remains a good natured person, that would suffer death rather than see his loved ones perish/hurt. If a person like that were to exist in our world, he/she would be an exception amongst exception. People that don't understand him or his struggles don't even grasp half of the essence of the show. Everything is centered on his pain/suffering and his will. He's not some godly entity, but a flawed man trying to make the right choices.
I think the general idea of the show is difficult to comprehend when one does not have the ability to "put themselves in one's shoes". This show truly embraces this because you can only truly understand Subaru's hardships when you put yourselves into his perspective. Most people are shallow minded, in which they love to say things like "Oh why did he do this? He's so dumb. He should have done this instead." It is easy for people to judge and say such things in hindsight, but in reality, everyone has to harden themselves to make their choices. Subaru made his choices, he broke down, he got back up, he learnt and came back stronger. This is why viewers for this show are generally on both ends of the scale, where they either really loved it, or really hated it.
people seem to miss the detail that rem knows from the very beginning that subaru loves emilia, thats precisely the reason WHY she asks him to lay his problems on her, she knows they ultimately lead up to him wanting to help emilia. she knew it was coming from the very beginning.
Still watching but I'm gonna assume by the end, the reactors fall in one of two camps, as usual: those who come around and like Subaru for acknowledging his flaws and becoming a better person, or those who missed the entire point and still dislike him.
Yeah ep 18 is fking amazing but it might make people drop the show or just hate subaru. And if they didn't understand that you can't change who you love and just focus on ''but rem's best girl wtf she's doing all this for him'' it's better they don't continue
Yeah I tried telling you guys this show is a roller coaster of emotions I’ve never seen anything like it one second you’re laughing the next minute you wanna cry it has so many plot twist and surprises it is a total smorgasbord
@@lordtouchme77 I think they meant the scene where he said "I love emilia" after rem spoke all of these words and opened her heart for him, I would feel very broken if someone rejected me like that, after I spilled my whole heart out for someone I really love
@@motafu1 but thats the entire point tho? Even rem know that she was going to be rejected, because thats the only way for her to bring back subaru to become his usual self and that subaru are in love with emilia. 1:20:10 you are welcome lol But this moment just prove how dumb most reactors are lol just because the girl nice to him declares her love to him, he's supposed to just change his feelings and switch his love interest ? That's what I would call trash writing
If anything, I feel like people disliking Subaru's answer to Rem don't understand what good love is. It's not about being love in return just because your feelings are more valide. That's just selfish and arrogant, and that's the kind of love that end up hurting everyone. Subaru shouldn't be ashamed for loving someone, no matter how powerful Rem confession was. She doesn't own him just because she can see his good points and let him come out of his darkest feeling, at this time at least. She knows and respects his feelings. If anything, tis was the perfect answer to give her, be honest and not push her fantasy. If anyone can't accept rejection, that's on them, not the person they decide to confess too. Not saying it's not painful, their hurt is just as valid as the other. But that's what therapy is for, to sort out your traumas to be a better version of yourself. It may be because I was on the "I reject you" side but I can't approve anyone who think he was wrong here.
When Julius cuts Subaru, in the original story, not only Ferris but also Emilia and Wilhelm were there. He pretends to be sane, confusing Subaru, and is restrained by an invisible arm, but Julius avoids it at the last moment and asks him to kill him before he is completely taken over, but Julius hesitates. Ferris then moves in place of Julius, who cannot decide. He ignores Julius's warnings and interferes with Subaru, causing the mana in his body to go out of control, causing Subaru's blood to boil, his internal organs to boil, and his brain to evaporate. In the midst of his suffering, Emilia, who has been released from her restraints, shakes him by the shoulders in tears and calls out to him, but his body no longer moves, and Julius, who is just waiting to die, does not want to make Subaru suffer any more, so he puts the finishing blow on him. This may sound strange because it is translated from Japanese.
If we retranslate it, Petelgeuse pretends to be sane in order to confuse Subaru and have him restrained, and not wanting to cause him any more pain, his body no longer moves, so Julius, who is just waiting to die, delivers the final blow. What is this?
