Yeah, this was probably the mini-rework that hurt me the most. Even if the new ultimate and superior combat stats make her infinitely better in ARAM. Especially since I don't like playing Assassins.
her ult rework? you mean when you could sidestep it? Well, at least she got fastly buffed to not dodging it that easly. It made her gameplay awful for this one patch, but next one definitely fixed it and she became normal champion to play, not with terrible useless ult experience.
We can't really understand her, but, no, we actually can because they made her grunting expressive and comprehensive in a basic level, which is interesting.

Why no one plays Zed, Yasuo, Katarina, Yone, Samira, Ezreal, Lee Sin, Thresh, and Lux for the people that live in an alternate universe where those champs are unpopular
@Duckervert yes lux players are terrible but it’s such a stat embellished champion that they’re never irrelevant. The 0-10 lux will still one combo your bruisers because… oh right, nearly 20 skins that need selling.
I'm a Rek'sai main, and I've been playing her since release. You've hit the nail on the head when it comes to why people really don't play her much. The lack of the multi knock up, a severe lack of flexibility in itemization, improper numbers to suite her role, and frankly, an indecision by the devs as towhat she should be, has crippled my poor baby. She's still strong if you know how to use her, but I genuinely think she needs another mini-rework or at the very least a mythic item that actually works for her besides prowlers claw
Tbh I don't get what people see in the old Rek'Sai. She was a pure knockup bot with like 20% of the carry potential she has today and her kit was way clunkier to use overall because you didn't have prowler and fury to ages to stack. She used to be like an AD tank Gragas that is much easier and more boring to play.
Place herald top teleport bot pressure both sides and if somebody comes to your side you just teleport top again with ult 😓. One of the best split pusher
Random comment but you know what champs I miss and had ALOT of fun on? Old morde and old aatrox. I know their reworks are solid champs but I remember I’d you got fed on Aatrox you were a dps healing monster. Everything also felt so fucking fluid :( it was a fun ass champ
While I have never played old reksai (I started in season 8, left and came back in 10) I do love her current version. I like your suggested change to the passive but another change I want to see is for the fury to be consumed in quarters, the same way she builds it up over thirds. It can really fuck up combos if you have 66 or 33 fury instead of your usual increments of 25.
This honestly would be a huge QOL for her and I'm all for it. I'm no where near a big Reksai player but I enjoy her but always wondered why something just felt a little clunky when moving between forms and I think k you just answered that.
@@dreeamix9766 not saying she should or shouldn't have it in all honesty idm because the champs been in a good spot for a while. It's kinda just a case of its pretty annoying have it go up and down in different increments
As a S6-S10 Rek’sai player, I fucking miss old Rek’sai. The global pressure was just something you cannot discount, it not only made her a great champ but it was so satisfying to learn and develop the knowledge instead of face rolling my keyboard to one shot somebody. Honestly a tragedy what riot did to my girl :’(
imo rek'sai isn't so much about face rolling (well kinda lmao), but it's more that you're forced to have a really good understanding of jungling in the early/early mid game if you want to play her well. i mean i enjoy her as she is at least
I like her 100x more after the rework, she became high risk high reward champ. And she aboslutely dominates mid game even if you are not ahead. I disagree with most what was said in the video. She is amazing diver-assasin once you get the Claw and don't go in blind. AoE knock up would be too op considering it's 1 sec hard CC which you can use every 8 sec. Also now it damages and slows all nearby targets and you can abuse that in team fights. She definietly lacks sustain and her build path doesn't help with that, but that's a trade off for having extremly high burst and point and click finisher. I love how she feels to play, when you are ahead you are creepy otherwordly predator Waiting underground for someone unlucky enough to meet you. Maybe the old one just didn't suit my playstyle.
"Oh, this champion is bad in SoloQ but OP in pro play and we don't know how to balance him/her. Oh well, let's just ruin the entire champion so that nobody will play them anymore. Problem solved" - Riot Games, since 2008
Go ahead and downvote me, but I think it absolutely didn't fit the video, nor Vars' tone and rhythm of speech. It felt like if action music played during a casual dialogue in a movie. But if you like it, then good for you.
While I main her and love playing her, I can absolutely agree there are some design (and balance) problems that make her an unpopular pick. Would love to see Riot giving her some love and fixing those problems! She is still and will always be my favourite jungler tho
Used to only play rek'sai back in the day, since the moment she was released i thought the idea of map control and the engage style(tunnel-flash-W) was amazing, i also liked the scream before the teleport that was fkin awesome. If you enjoy her in her current state that's awesome but for me she's just not the monster i knew and loved (still play her from time to time).
@@PanosLog I think they shouldn't have removed the old ult, they should've kept it but also added an option to cast on a champion for the new ult. Both are great to have but only for certain situations
@@wrex4699 agree, if this built-in teleport is overwhelming that much. They just have to increasing some limitations or more cooldowns-- not to remove it and completely change her style ;-;
Basically they re-designed her passive so it's more of a JG tool to heal a bit between camps than to be used in-fights. Also like Vars says, she's technically a Diver on paper but builds like an assassin, So I guess part of her unpopularity is that since her gameplay is a bit conflicting, she might not be atractive to either Diver mains nor assassin mains who wanna try new champs. Too diver for an assassin, to assassin for a diver.
If they rework her R, scaling and passive again, like total ad/base damage instead of bonus AD, more hp regen, give R something like "if used borrowed knockup after hitting, if used unborrowed does missing health damage" Or if they just put in her R that if she kills the target she will be borrowed and have a free tunnel, nerfs something to compensate
@@cokecan6169 The reason no one plays rek sai anymore is her passive got GUTTED and Riot wont do anything about it. The regen isnt an issue anymore, but it would be helpful to have, and vision/healing is so high nowadays to re-buff tremor sense...at least a little.
Rek'sai as a concept, just like Skarner, reminds me of Starcraft's core gameplay. Leaving behind the multitask on units, they both could use some more meaningful and consistent "structures". I imagine Rek'sai's concept being pushed into a jungler that could infest slowly her own jungle with these void rifts, so is in her best interest to defend her zone of control (adding to the narrative of the void, and her as a mother). And also is in the best interest of the opponent to scout which zones are being overloaded with these structures and plan out invades proactively into her evergrowing zone of control. Just a concept, maybe a balance nightmare, but an actual champion identity
I really love this idea, but... While it would be great for Rek'Sai, it would change the game forever. And I'm not sure League would benefit from such a massive thematic overall.
As someone who used to play against pre-rework Reksai, she was terrifying, but I always felt it was a fantastic design. Her kit and gameplay simply made sense and I love champions that fill unique roles in the game. I personally think she should be reverted, but I don't play her so what say do I have... If she gets reverted, maybe give her some movement speed towards enemy champions after she teleports, so that she has an easier time engaging without support from other players. I can't say much about the passive changes since I haven't gone into them.
If they revert her, she wouldn't need movespeed after teleport. A skilled reksai would have tunnels at the ready to use, and can knock up multiple members of an enemy team.
I've actually found success in mitigating some of her problems by taking her in mid lane Basically all except the late fall off and the team fight going in blind problem Sadly I still wish I had a chance to try old rek
Okay. That explains it. When I first got into League of Legends Rek'Sai Chad her old ult. Then I did actually get around to playing until season 11. My first time Rek'Sai I was so confused on why her ult didnt have global range.
Due to her also only scaling with bonus AD, she falls off faster and that makes her harder to play in lower elos where games go on for longer. I loved playing her mid season 10 and earlier this season, but it feels so up hill past the 15 min mark unless your steamrolling.
What if you changed the ult so it retains both versions of it? You could select either an enemy champ or a tunnel. The enemy finisher could lose it’s globality but the teleport would be global.
You might was well give her tahm's old ult but does damage instead, Honestly that would really fit her well. Just make it so that she immediately burrows after the knockup so she can do another follow up knockup or use E immediately
I've only been playing Rek'Sai for three days, and I can definitely agree that she needs some built-in sustain. Poor girl literally gets beaten to an inch of her life if I fight brambleback without a leash, much less an enemy champion under tower.
Her passive should heal more and based on missing health if she has been in combat with enemy champions recently, and her E should have less bAD scaling but apply on-hit effects. There you go.
nope, her passive provides enough sustain to not being dependant on lifesteal/omnivamp and her E is true damage, u shouldnt really have scaleable true damage if u dont want her to be as broken as set and camille that are cancer to play against.
I remember back when Rek'Sai was first released. The only junglers that have matched that hype since then are Viego and Kindred. She was a very fun and new spin on Jungling and felt very fresh to play, even for people who were even back then considered the "Old Guard" of Jungling like myself. She felt fluid and consistent to play but didn't feel like she was free either, and it made her stand out a ton in the Feral Flare dominated Meta of Season 4. Even if memory serves she came out in Preseason 5, but the point still stands that she felt awesome to play back then. And then they changed her ultimate. One of the most fun parts of playing Rek'Sai was getting that perfect engage because you set up that tunnel knowing a fight would start at Dragon or Baron. It felt awesome to make a difference because you planned ahead and took a good guess at where a fight would break out, allowing yourself to safely back and come back with a finished item or something to give yourself a small advantage. Her new ult just makes her feel like she has no identity. There is no Rek'Sai anxiety anymore, she can't just appear and gank Top immediately after you see her Bot side anymore, and that was an important part of what made her fun. She snowballed off you being good at the game and lining things up to pop off rather than just getting items.
never played her old version but quite honestly everything you said here makes sense. thanks for such great quality content. keep up the good work. wish you well. take care.
In the current state of the game. I'd like to see her have a rework to be the engaging tank again. But with more sustain to stay alive from all the burst heavy champs and items they have now
This is why I personally really dislike balancing around pro play. It feels like some champions lose too much of their gameplay identity just because their identity is, by nature, more useful in coordinated play. That said, it's interesting to look back and see 4 champions with high global mobility be heavily reworked largely because of pro... Wish I didn't main any of them because of that tho...
I used to main old reksai, took a break, came back unaware of this rework and failed miserably. Completely agree, she needs her regen and old ult was better
Im a rek'sai main but i never got to play her pre-rework, i started playing league too late, and to be honest, it sounds like a lot of fun, i would love to at least try it right now
Biggest thing that threw me off when trying Rek'sai after the rework was actually the loss of attack speed from her ult passive, it just made her feel so much more clunky to play as I was used to having above average attack speed rather than just baseline
Old rek had that vibe of being a champion that installed fear into the enemy team with constant reminders that "Rek'sai can get to you." The tunnels popping up everywhere, the powerful engage that can easily clutch out team fights, and the monster scream that everyone could hear when you used ult. She was like the reworked fiddle with the sheer dread. Now the vibe of Rek'sai I'd argue isn't so much of monster mum clearing the map and installing fear, and more of a regular monster that just eats children or something. Kind of a bummer because I loved playing old Rek for that ult and how cool it felt.
Not really. Well, maybe if you really had godlike macro skills. In practice her tunnels were/ are so easy to destroy that using her R to get a flank or gank off was very rarely possible. I remember LCS commentators mockingly calling Rek's R the "farm alarm" (because of her globally audible scream when se uses it) during pro games because it's most frequent usage was to get them back to jungle farming quicker after they backed to base.
@@Weerknuffelbeer I got noooo idea what the prophesy scene was like, but a scrub like me managed to get one or two tunnels to stick in some nasty spots to work with. I'd still argue that even if in terms of farm lanes and pushing that she was too telegraphed, she still had that vibe going for her.
I mostly play with a group of friends, and most of them main high octane dps champs. Therefore I love playing Rek'Sai as a tank. Titanic rush and boots into full on tank. Decent dueling, excellent engage and disruption.
@@MrLuzakman frostfire could also be interesting. Titanic gives a lot of AD to compensate. I'd imagine a build like titanic>frost/chem>steraks>BC. Funnily enough, I've tested a similar build on sett top too.
@@dagdamor1 I've built Titanic and Black cleaver with Frostfire for the slow for stick potential and tankiness. If you want a bruiser build, I suggest Trinity force, Black cleaver, Wit's end. The 3 movespeed passives stack so you can catch anyone.
When I started to play league back in S5 ending / preseason 6, I instantly fell in love with RekSai. I saw a pro match having no idea what they were about and I was like "wow, that mechanical bug (I guess they had eternum skin) that digs tunnels looks so cool". I farmed the 6300 PI and got her. It was love at first sight. She was incredible. I became an otp RekSai. Then rework came in... She never was the same. I don't dislike the new ult per se, I think in fact there was room for both Rs (maybe one burrowed and the other unborrowed) but every other change felt horrible. Still my most played champ after all this years with almost 300k, but I never play her anymore. Feels bad
Oh leagues waifu, its time Simple my girl is basicly a harder less useful lee sin, the usually best jungler in the game, she falls off harder than he does as she cant insect and gets bursted lategame, not to mention her new ult is awkward, it can be amazing to dodge certain attacks and pick of targets, but way less than her old teleport ult
@@raven5935 yes, its more on how they play , her kit is pretty good vs lee specificly as she can follow him and cc , but overall how they play is similar
@@raven5935 yeah as shes so feast or famine, she can dominate a game so much played by a good player that she carrys the whole game , or be killed once and fall behind,.becoming only more and more useless as she doesnt have defense only really offense.
Of all of the things you mentioned (which are all great, btw), I think the burrowed tremor-sense is the biggest issue. Her tremor vision range is only so large, so if someone is traveling fast enough, or through only a portion of her vision's range, you have no idea where they are or going. It also is not very clear when multiple people are moving in close proximity to one another, and instead often appears as a single champion. I've died a few times from tunneling in to attack one champion, but finding two or three that were not picked up by tremor sense.
Rek'Sai was one of the reasons i left league for 2 months before coming back because of Arcane. I could carry the earlygame like a madman, but when the midgame came my only option was praying that the enemy team was dumb and walked all alone. And i couldn't rely on my team because low-elo SoloQ shenanigans
Rek’sai was always one of my favorites along with sejuani. They made me love jungle. At first I thought the dive looked cool since it gave her better kill potential, after I started playing her after the rework, I realized she lost what made her unique. It was awesome to play because when the ult was up, the enemy knew that as long tunnels were on the map, nowhere was safe from rek’sai, but good tunnel placement meant it would be hard to avoid them.
Having come back from a long break recently (last time I played was before Pyke was out), you're right that the changes alienated the original players. I can't claim to be great, but I got ok with her when she was more of a disruption tanky type and when I came back to the rework I was like "Well this is...strange and kind of uncomfortable to play now." It's a really weird feeling, and I think you nailed the reasons in this video. Which is a shame, because she was one of my favorite junglers to play and now I kinda just don't want to play her.
I personally also think the removal of the dash on stridebreaker didnt help either, kinda killed the bruiser build path, and really only allowed for prowlers claw to be meta. Stridebreaker really helped with the squishyness problem in the mid-late
Reksai is just another champion ruined by high elo. Her tremor sense is so good in pro play, they had to make her virtually blind, her early ganks were so good, they had to make her really hard to use later on. In my opinion rek'sai is in same position as elise, you need to perma gank and get very fed early on or the game is over for you.
They did something similar. They added %max health healing while steadily nerfing her damage Edit: another quick glance her tremor sense went from 1.5 sec to 1 so yea riot listened this time
1. Others do her Job better. Currently she has been this weird bruiser assassin with mainly Prowlers Claw. It feels clunky, but its sadly the only viable way to play her right now, as she cannot utilize Mythics like Goredrinker due to her low Base stats. Those low Basestats are a remnant of the time when Reksai was a Tank and Proplay Menace. Riot shoehorned her out of that role by any means possible. 2. Her Tremorsense got severely nerfed at one point. Before, you were able to basically pinpoint unseen and invisible Champions, which made Reksai a good pick into a.e. Shaco. This is now barely possible as you only get a general idea where a champion was 1.5 Seconds ago. And as we all know, 1.5 Seconds can win/lose a fight. 3. Pre-Rework Tiamat was super important to her. She did not get compensated enough for its "removal". 4. Im pretty sure her Ult is bugged. It does way less damage than it should. It has good base damage, deals more on low HP targets and has an insane Scaling, but for some reason a maxed out Ultimate sometimes deals only like.. 200 Damage on a low HP Target with little to no Armor. Thats my current impression of her.
And also fourth point: when you "cast" your ultimate and as soon you are targetable again and you die, the ability doesn't do damage and it goes on cooldown.
@@willymh4986 That is intended imo. The ult starts with the Burrow, and the damage comes from reksai swiping her claws down at the target. Killing her before the Claw swipe is like killing Yasuo Mid ultimate. Same result :D But jeah, it should just go on a short CD like a.e. when Caitlyns target gets killed mid ultimate.
3:20 her combo is actually just a bit more, if you Q before unborrowing then do an AA after that then canceling into unborrowed Q you get max fury to deal a massive bite
I play her (in LoR and have fun with pyke) she’s such and interesting characters and could have a cool interaction with one of the ascended ( personally I want to see her fight renekton)
That would be an interesting fight to see, very possible to happen too considering they both live and wander around Shurima. What would win? Thousands of years of unnatural alien evolution, or godly ascension?
I've played her since i started league and i still love her despite the mini nerf/rework (whatever you wanna call it). For me she still fulfils every part i search for in a jungler and i just love her overall design
Honestly. I think its because of the rework, as I personally think her blind passive when burrowed isn't that much of an issue towards people playing her. It just made her more of a weaker assassin despite being designed as a Diving Bruiser, and the way she assassinates her targets conflicts with the design of her kit being more of a diver. Something like that.
I like when League makes different builds for different champions viable and new. Old Reksai used to run smite and teleport instead of smite and flash because being able to use her old ult and teleport gave her double global map presence. A good fix to bring reksai back into popularity it to fix her ult somehow. A deep dive execute doesn't make sense for a high mobility jungler, maybe make it a percent max health chunk to insensitivize her hard engage potential or keep the old ult but allow a temporary burrow that after jumping out of and executing a carry allow reksai to hop back into the burrow and return to her previous position.
I love Rek'sai. Been my fave champ since she came out. I recently got back into the game and her conflicting playstyle sucks hard. I find myself running top Rek'sai more often because that's where her heal is actually substantial in a way, and she doesn't have that bad of a wave clear.
Honestly, when you look at her animated trailer back from (I think) 6 years ago she looks a lot like an assassin deigned to hunt prey. Similar like Rengar and Warwick are. Tbh if Riot were to redesign her somehow I'd love to see her have some damage reduction ability and pumped up numbers so she feels more powerful again. My suggestions: Passive: unburrowed Reksai can stack her fury by attacking, depending on how much fury she has, she earns stacking damage reduction. Enemy attacks reduce her fury meter. Burrowed she consumes all remaining fury to heal herself (numbers must go up) Q cast time should decrease per level and not interrupt other abilities for EXTRA SMOOTH and maybe bring her back that attack speed bonus passive back W obv should knock up all enemies hit again E I suppose could just deal true damage at all ranks. It's not even as big and Camille has it in her Q, fiora deals it as %max hp and Vayne deals 2k true damage in 3 seconds soooooooo why not
My best reksai game ever was a clash game where we lost the first round playing serious so we decided to goof and the theme we went for was all female champs "girls night out", and I was gonna play Vi, but last second I switched. That game I wrecked house so bad there was a Lucian flaming me for being a Smurf. I had 4 games on Reksai at that time, and while I have played league for as long as it existed I don't play ranked (except that year to get into clash which I think set me at bronze?)
Having not seen the video yet: her regen mechanic is dated and weak in the modern day. I like the idea behind her kit but it really lacks that special sauce that makes champs enjoyable to master.
Man, I haven’t seen Rek’sai in so long that I still thought she was a tank… which I think is exactly the problem that Vars talked about. I only disagree on her ult. I think from a character design standpoint, her current ult is WAY better. I think what they need to do is to actually make her burrowed form a threat. That’s the whole idea behind a lane shark. This concept is repeated in literally every other sci-fi show that features giant monsters. What makes them threatening is the element of unknown. While I’m not advocating for her to have perma stealth like eve does, it makes sense to give back some of her previous kit without removing her ult. Her knock up in its previous form was reasonable. It’s telegraphed enough that you can still react to it the way you’d react to *any* AOE cc like shen taunt, vi q, etc, even when accounting for flash. And the drawback is that she literally cannot auto attack you when she is burrowed, which means you have a window to escape before she can cc you again. Reverting her back into a tank with a “for fun” damage build would bring her threat-level back to the way it used to be. I never felt that her previous form was unfair or irritating to play against, nor did I feel bad if I saw someone hover rek’sai in champion select. She was genuinely one of very few respectable picks that I rarely saw people protest.
I remember that i used to love rek'sai for the sole reason that she could easily do the diver role while being design as a juggernaut, after the rework it felt like riot doubled down on the diver role and it felt kinda same-y to me.
I don't get the premier feature, I was happy with my life, I saw a pretty looking video and now I have to wait 12h to see it, lowkey mad about it. The small serotonin boost of seeing the thumbnail is not worth the wait for me.
not going to lie one of the most un warranted reworks in the game. they took a some what well liked champ that had a place in the game and completely gutted that version of her because boo hoo pro play
Honestly she used to be the perfect backdoor hero. I remember when I would drop a tunnel facing the outside of the map in the lane bush closest to the 2nd tier tower. This would always go unchecked. Build black cleaver for car, make sure you left a tunnel at home base, zoom to crack open the gates, they base, and bam you zoom back to base with r again bc you built cdr. I would've given trick2g a run for his money. What a time to be alive as a reksai main.
BUFF HER PASSIVE. please, please buff her passive. Fury of the Xer'Sai: Heals for 10(+20xlvl)(+4% max Health) Tremor Sense: 1.5s -> 0.75s Burrowed: Gains 20-40 armor/magic resist while burrowed Queen's Wrath (or Furious Bite): Heals for 12% bAD, with an additional 6% bAD heal per enemy champion hit beyond the first target (or 8%, increased up to 16% at 100 fury) She needs some form of in-combat durability, her passive is non-existent especially late, and I'd absolutely trade some of her E damage or Q's scaling (CD/ratio nerf etc.) to get back that functionality.
Hearing that Rek'sai used to be a tank makes so much sense to me. When I played her I felt like I should've been building either bruiser like Vi or full tank like Shen. But when I tried that I did no damage and I'd still get blown up instantly. Learning that you're expected to build assassin items was so weird to me. Like, you have this big void beast and she's meant to be an assassin? She looks like a skinnier Alistar!
As someone who is enjoying both a lot of Rell and Reksai, they are both soooo much fun to play and in draft (yes I am a casual who doesn’t like sweating the game) they are both so strong with just a little bit of help from my laners.
Reksai is almost always my go-to if I ever get auto filled jungle. Usually I go Eclipse on her for the omni and shield. By the time I played Reksai, she had already been reworked. The first times I played her was on ARAM so I went AP to do poke with Q. But now that I've played her in SR, I will say I actually do like her kit. I see your points about the issues with her, but I find her gameplay really fun. It can definitely be frustrating though trying to stick to targets long enough to stack up and then E. Basically makes hail of blades almost required against certain comps. It's funny how a lot of my favorite champions are some of the most unpopular in terms of gameplay.
Damn, I started maining her last week and I was searching for your video about her like all others (Ryze, Illaoi…) And just now you’re doing it, what a timing !
Rek sai was one of my favorites to play back before they changed her ult. In low elo, being able to hard control vision with her trackers knife strat was second to none. I still liked her a lot after her ult changes but I got bored and moved on to different champions. Looking back after quitting league, moving on from rek sai is my biggest regret.
I miss Old Rek'Sai because she was more bruiser/engage. You had unique gank angles and global pressure, and you could build tanky or damage and get solid results. Now its off-brand assassin, and she just feels weird. So many times have I died while in the invulnerable part of the ult. I would love to see her get some love to maybe fix her back to how she was

You think she’s worth investing into right now?

Tbh I don't get what people see in the old Rek'Sai. She was a pure knockup bot with like 20% of the carry potential she has today and her kit was way clunkier to use overall because you didn't have prowler and fury to ages to stack. She used to be like an AD tank Gragas that is much easier and more boring to play.

As a S6-S10 Rek’sai player, I fucking miss old Rek’sai. imo rek'sai isn't so much about face rolling (well kinda lmao), but it's more that you're forced to have a really good understanding of jungling in the early/early mid game if you want to play her well. i mean i enjoy her as she is at least

Hello there, Mizutsune
@@DexFire1115 Hello there, Vaal Hazak
If they rework her R, scaling and passive again, like total ad/base damage instead of bonus AD, more hp regen, give R something like "if used borrowed knockup after hitting, if used unborrowed does missing health damage"
Or if they just put in her R that if she kills the target she will be borrowed and have a free tunnel, nerfs something to compensate
I build her like a bruiser and play her top; I think the assassin build is too weak honestly
Riot tryed do that with azir, was too op so they will never add something of this kind into the game
I've actually found success in mitigating some of her problems by taking her in mid lane
Basically all except the late fall off and the team fight going in blind problem
Sadly I still wish I had a chance to try old rek
Okay. That explains it. When I first got into League of Legends Rek'Sai Chad her old ult. Then I did actually get around to playing until season 11. My first time Rek'Sai I was so confused on why her ult didnt have global range.
I play her a sometimes because you get to be a shark insect, but dear lord do you feel underwhelming sometimes.
Due to her also only scaling with bonus AD, she falls off faster and that makes her harder to play in lower elos where games go on for longer. I loved playing her mid season 10 and earlier this season, but it feels so up hill past the 15 min mark unless your steamrolling.
The timing on this is amazing i just started maining rek’sai
@@raven5935 thx for the advice
What if you changed the ult so it retains both versions of it? You could select either an enemy champ or a tunnel. The enemy finisher could lose it’s globality but the teleport would be global.
That would be so op o/
Im so freakin proud that you've grown as a channel man. It's encouraging see your views and subs go up throughout this year. Keep it up dude!!
I think rek sai could have a small shield if she lands all of her unburrowed q’s under 3sec
Im a rek'sai main but i never got to play her pre-rework, i started playing league too late, and to be honest, it sounds like a lot of fun, i would love to at least try it right now
Back on her release I had a friend that was more than static for her. He loved her underground gimmick, he found her difficult and rewarding.
I’d be interested in trying her tank or bruiser. Do you use Black Cleaver? What mythic would you recommend?
Buffed chemtank looks interesting for her, gonna try it
@@MrLuzakman frostfire could also be interesting.
Feels bad
Coz reksai suffers from LCS champion syndrome. Whenever champion is picked on LCS, he get continiously nerfed to the ground

Simple my girl is basicly a harder less useful lee sin, the usually best jungler in the game, she falls off harder than he does as she cant insect and gets bursted lategame, not to mention her new ult is awkward, it can be amazing to dodge certain attacks and pick of targets, but way less than her old teleport ult
Rek'Sai...haven't heard that name in years...
It was awesome to play because when the ult was up, the enemy knew that as long tunnels were on the map, nowhere was safe from rek’sai, but good tunnel placement meant it would be hard to avoid them.
her old ult made me feel like I was playing a horror game
Having come back from a long break recently (last time I played was before Pyke was out), you're right that the changes alienated the original players. I can't claim to be great, but I got ok with her when she was more of a disruption tanky type and when I came back to the rework I was like "Well this is...strange and kind of uncomfortable to play now." It's a really weird feeling, and I think you nailed the reasons in this video. Which is a shame, because she was one of my favorite junglers to play and now I kinda just don't want to play her.
the fact that so many character i main are in this series should give me an insight about myself
squishy but her w and ult are diving into the enemies team lol and it both also has a delay for them to predict whats coming
Bonus points for the Castle Crashers music!
I personally also think the removal of the dash on stridebreaker didnt help either, kinda killed the bruiser build path, and really only allowed for prowlers claw to be meta. Stridebreaker really helped with the squishyness problem in the mid-late
I remember reksai was the first champ i played in league. That rework really killed all my enjoyment for her
Reksai is just another champion ruined by high elo. Her tremor sense is so good in pro play, they had to make her virtually blind, her early ganks were so good, they had to make her really hard to use later on. In my opinion rek'sai is in same position as elise, you need to perma gank and get very fed early on or the game is over for you.
They did something similar. They added %max health healing while steadily nerfing her damage
Edit: another quick glance her tremor sense went from 1.5 sec to 1 so yea riot listened this time
It has good base damage, deals more on low HP targets and has an insane Scaling, but for some
reason a maxed out Ultimate sometimes deals only like..
Same result :D
But jeah, it should just go on a short CD like a.e. when Caitlyns target gets killed mid ultimate.
Now thats a fight I'd pay to see, Renekton Vs Reksai sounds awesome.
Ever gone against Thaliya with her. That interaction is my favorite.
That would be an interesting fight to see, very possible to happen too considering they both live and wander around Shurima.
What would win? Thousands of years of unnatural alien evolution, or godly ascension?
Rek’Sai as a tank engage was great, on release I remember her being a pocket pick for a few pros, but Now barely anybody plays her.
Honestly, I love rek’sai, but I just can’t handle her blind mode.
me too
I've played her since i started league and i still love her despite the mini nerf/rework (whatever you wanna call it).
Wow ngl old Rek sounds really fun to play. Kinda sad I joined after she got reworked. 10/10 video

She's my favorite unit in the game (and I'm new) ! Tunneling around with her is so fun
did they just buff her based on the last suggestion of this video?
The changes are finally happening!!! They literally made the changes you suggested to her passive and tremor sense xD
You can even dodge her ult with a nice blink/dash. Nice feature for a single target finisher.
Can't do that anymore, it was changed like... 2 years ago..?
@@helganplay4832 Pretty sure it happened just this season.
Vara my guy, you just made me want to play her more
Honestly, when you look at her animated trailer back from (I think) 6 years ago she looks a lot like an assassin deigned to hunt prey. Similar like Rengar and Warwick are. Tbh if Riot were to redesign her somehow I'd love to see her have some damage reduction ability and pumped up numbers so she feels more powerful again.
My suggestions:
Passive: unburrowed Reksai can stack her fury by attacking, depending on how much fury she has, she earns stacking damage reduction. Enemy attacks reduce her fury meter.
Burrowed she consumes all remaining fury to heal herself (numbers must go up)
Q cast time should decrease per level and not interrupt other abilities for EXTRA SMOOTH and maybe bring her back that attack speed bonus passive back
W obv should knock up all enemies hit again
E I suppose could just deal true damage at all ranks.
Whooo! Been asking for this one! So glad you finally did it.
Having not seen the video yet: her regen mechanic is dated and weak in the modern day. I like the idea behind her kit but it really lacks that special sauce that makes champs enjoyable to master.
Her old ult was the most fun shit ever
The music,man that game exists
not going to lie one of the most un warranted reworks in the game. they took a some what well liked champ that had a place in the game and completely gutted that version of her because boo hoo pro play
A most helpful episode showing how Reksai went from uniqueness to uniqueness done in a debatable way.
I’m so early 😋
BUFF HER PASSIVE. please, please buff her passive.
Fury of the Xer'Sai: Heals for 10(+20xlvl)(+4% max Health)
Tremor Sense: 1.5s -> 0.75s
Burrowed: Gains 20-40 armor/magic resist while burrowed
Queen's Wrath (or Furious Bite): Heals for 12% bAD, with an additional 6% bAD heal per enemy champion hit beyond the first target (or 8%, increased up to 16% at 100 fury)
She needs some form of in-combat durability, her passive is non-existent especially late, and I'd absolutely trade some of her E damage or Q's scaling (CD/ratio nerf etc.) to get back that functionality.
Hearing that castle crashes theme play brought back so much for me
As someone who is enjoying both a lot of Rell and Reksai, they are both soooo much fun to play and in draft (yes I am a casual who doesn’t like sweating the game) they are both so strong with just a little bit of help from my laners.
Sameee
Damn, I started maining her last week and I was searching for your video about her like all others (Ryze, Illaoi…)
And just now you’re doing it, what a timing !
I loved her old ultimate, the free atk spd and the magic damage on her borrowed Q
Rek sai is the cutest champion
12:29 Also Jarvan can dash with a E+Q combo even when rooted or grounded.
