  • Are you wondering why there's a white building on top of the hill in the quiet town of Busay in Cebu? This is the Temple of Leah, a beautiful Roman-inspired architectural shrine that is also known as the Taj Mahal of Cebu. It's home to the treasures and memorabilia of the late Leah Albino Adarna, the grandmother of Filipina actress Ellen Adarna.
The Temple of Leah is one of the must-visit attractions in Cebu. It has been attracting foreign and local tourists for its stunning architectural style and overlooking view of Cebu City. This 7-story mansion has 24 chambers housing a library, bar, museum, and gallery. There are two large golden statues of lions stand guards on both sides of the main stairs leading into the temple. Roman gladiators and a bunch of life-sized statues of angels adorn the corners and different parts of the building.
So what's the story behind the Temple of Leah? It is built as a symbol of the undying love and never-ending devotion of Teodorico Adarna to his wife Leah Villa Albino-Adarna. Mr. Adarna shared that he constructed this temple in the year 2012 A.D. as a symbol of his undying love for and ceaseless devotion to her wife. He also added that he adopted an architectural design that can withstand time and still be appreciated for a millennium so this temple will become a landmark of Cebu, where future generations of the Adarna clan ...can come and trace their roots and heritage. Teodorico reportedly spent 80 million pesos to put up this temple as a symbol of his undying love for Leah.
The cheapest way to get here via public transport. It is a 45-minute drive from the city center. From Mactan Island, ride a bus going to SM Cebu City. Fare is around P40. Then take a 04D, 04I or 04H (Lahug-Busay) jeepney from downtown Cebu City, the fare is less than P20 per person; get off at the street to Temple Leah, and walk for 5 minutes to the site.
Alternatively, you may ride a habal-habal at Lahug / JY Mall straight to Temple of Leah for P150 per motorcycle, good for 2 persons, or a taxi or grab from the downtown. The best time to go here is during weekdays. It's one of the most popular and most visited tourist spots in Cebu so expect a crowd during weekends and holidays.

Temple of Leah is one of the top cultural and historical sites worth adding to your itinerary in Cebu City. Many call the temple the “Taj Mahal” of Cebu because it is also a mausoleum for a great love that never ends, even after death.

Our local version of "Taj Mahal" in Agra, India is called the Temple of Leah, which was built to show a husband's undying love for his wife. The man behind the grandiose temple is named Teodorico Adarna, the grandfather of actress Ellen Adarna.

Aside from photo opportunities given the exquisite architecture of the temple, you will be able to learn more about the dedication and love of a husband to his wife. The temple also provides stunning views of the countryside from its location.

Nicknamed the “Taj Mahal of Cebu”, Temple of Leah is a humble Roman-style shrine built by Teodorico Soriano Adarna in honor of his late wife, Leah Villa Albino-Adarna. Complete with enthralling Doric columns and arches, it is a sanctuary symbolizing a husband's undying love for his wife.

Like Taj Mahal, Temple of Leah is a symbol of undying love, and built as a tribute to the owner's late wife. Owned by an affluent Cebuano family, the temple is a loving gesture of Teodorico Soriano Adarna to Leah Albino-Adarna - his late wife and partner for more than 50 years.

Busay is not a town. It's a district or barangay of Cebu City. Busay is one of the mountain barangays of Cebu City. Cebu City's terrain is approximately 5-10% flat (6 meters above sea level) or plain, 20% hilly (10-90 meters ASL) and 70% mountainous (over 100 meters above sea level). No areas of Cebu City is at sea level. The only flatlands in Cebu City is the old downtown area, built during the Spanish colonial era as well as the reclamation areas (NRA and SRP).

@@dodongvincent Huh? A resident doesn't need any Google or any app to know his native land. A resident who is ignorant about his own place is dumb and stupid. I know my place, I know my land, I know Cebu as I live here all my life. I breathe Cebu.
