Bon’s voice is definitely better for the classic open chord riffs of the 70s, but Brian’s voice has this amazing flame to it that pushed them to the limits as a hard rock band
If you go back and listen to the albums, the whole band shifted sounds around Brian coming on. Both still very good, and still my favorite band of all time, but the shift was noticeable from dirty deeds (78 or 79 I believe) to Back in Black in 1980.
The best part about Bon is that he was more of a crooner. Like, he didn't have to force it. The vibe changed when Brian came in and was belting that shit. I like Bon more but Brian is an absolute monster.
Adam Gontier and Layne Staley can't be replaced. But at least we've got Saint Asonia

My band opened up for 3 days grace when they first came to the states . My band is from Seattle and they needed a opening band we just got done playing at hempfest in front of 150 thousand people and their manager came up to us after our gig and gave us 5 grand to play 7 songs at the crocodile.

I’d say Brian Johnson is one of the best frontman replacements of all time, he was able to take Bons spot and keep the exact same sound for AC DC which is insane seeing as how unique Bon Scott’s voice was. Layne Staley is arguably one of the greatest singers of all time, he’s definitely the best in my eyes along with Cornell, he can never be replaced and even Jerry and Duvall say this, i think Duvall was more opening a new chapter for Jerry and AIC vs replacing Layne.
Brian Johnson replacing Bon Scott is the best thing that ever happened to AC/DC. Obviously sucks that Bon had to die for that to happen, and no hate at all to him, but Brian just perfected their sound.
Also Layne Staley is the fucking GOAT.

Will was a blessing to AIC. Don't you think he knows that people wish Layne was still around? I wish he was an old man playing gigs and golfing with Jerry too. But after Layne passed, it wasn't fair to Jerry, Mike and Sean to be forced to break the band up. I 100% respect Will for being there for the guys as well as the fans. I also respect Will for never trying to "fake sound" like Layne. He sang like himself and sounded great. AND.. Bc of Will, AIC was able to put out new music for their fans. Layne Staley was a one of a kind, but give credit where credit is due❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

William deserves more than this. He stepped into it man when he took that gig on and just to be good enough for Jerry to endorse him says a LOT! That's all I need in order to accept him. I think Jerry's opinion is more than good enough for me, plus William is a stellar musician! He's even playing one is Jerry's old guitars there.

@@neliacwahs895 I saw a few shows of Jerry’s when he was touring for Degradation Trip in early 2000’s. Solo stuff. Duvall was in a band called Comes With the Fall and opened for Jerry on that tour. Well at the end of Jerry’s sets , he’d have to play the big Alice songs for the crowd, and he can’t sing Man In The Box, so he would ask Duvall to come out and help him. Honestly, Duvall was bad at singing Alice songs. He cracked bad, and was way off key, very cringe worthy. Fast forward a couple year and I hear Duvall is Alice’s new lead singer. I was like wtf?! Are they fucking crazy?! But Duvall actually, to my SURPRISE, learned from his mistakes and figured out how to sing Laynes parts on key in “his own way”. It actually works now, especially the new stuff. I have to give him A LOT of credit, he earned his spot. Also Duvall played guitar really well, so that’s a good rhythm for Jerry’s lead in most songs. Make them sound better than with just one guitar. Duvall knew all of Alice’s music anyway so it was convenient for Alice also. Jerry said, he never wanted a Layne copycat up there trying to be Layne. He said he hated that idea. Alice evolves just like everything else in life. They were just looking for someone who can fit in to the band and find his own way in Alice. 🙏🏻😎

Layne and Adam cannot be replaced. Not downing anything the new guys have done, because I still listen to both. But man. Growing up with the originals, it’s hard to beat either sound

The big one. Like book ends Bon fronted AC/DC's first 6 albums, Hells Bells being his last, and best. Along comes Brian just in time to go on world tour and Back in Black, their best album, arguably. Now 30 something albums later, and at least as many years.

Alice in Chains is Jerry Cantrell's band, and AC/DC is the Young Brothers band. The songs are written by them, and the vocals are performed by whoever Jerry, Angus, and Malcolm (RIP) choose to sing them.
