as a person who has been on edtwt for a few years now, i'd like to share my thoughts. most, if not all of these comments are from the people on edtwt who literally nobody likes. there are different sides to edtwt. i personally do not fw the sides who comment on other people. it is YOUR mental illness, it does not give you a reason to be a bitch. literally being like "look at what my big back friend ate... i didn't even finish 🤮" does not make you more skinny omg. anyway. i try to interact with the side that is more positive. i am on edtwt to have a safe space, and i realize that yes edtwt is genuinely problematic and not good in its nature, but it has also helped me. a lot of people will comment on my posts and give me tips on how to STAY SAFE and will try to help me in order to not let my ed thoughts get the better of me and try to take better care of myself, if that makes sense. it's a place that i can vent and let everything out when im feeling triggered, anxious, and panicky, and nobody will judge me because they all understand
many parts of EDtwt are more like support groups than bragging boards which is slightly reassuring

I typically hate talking about ed's because I've struggled with my own, but every point you brought up is so true!
And the fact that they act like the only form of ed is anorexia. A lot of larger people have starving Ed's, some people have binge disorders, some people just have bad genetics and struggle to loose weight.

as someone who is on shedtwt, i genuinely feel like it’s a safe space to talk about my feelings and thoughts with others. A lot of people do understand me and i understand them. I’ve made friends too, and i genuinely appreciate it. The toxic accounts are fr disgusting asf and i hate people who are like “ew fatty” like get out. when someone chooses recovery i love how mainly the community is super supportive and positive. i hate toxic edtwt tweets and accounts too.❤
@@CasperlovesYou see i love this comment because i love hearing that there are supportive communities on twitter about this. like truly what social media is meant for. toxic edtweets really give people with eds a bad reputation, when its just one bad egg in the bunch. like an ed is a disorder, and support groups are really great for people who struggle so they know they aren’t alone.
I occasionally get edtwt posts on my recommended too and agreed that some of them are awful but it feels a little crude to laugh at ones like the 3rd grader one or the people delusional that being skinny makes them popular
i was more-so trying to point out how concerning it is that third graders are on edtwt. eds arent funny, i just think edtwt is ridiculous.
the LAST thing a third grader should be thinking about is their calorie consumption, they’re growing kids. the fact that edtwt is becoming normalized to kids is horrible
@@j00blia i definitely agree! but something about this video is still... strange? its exposing people to a side of the internet that they didnt ever *need* to see. its horrible and shouldnt be such an echo chamber of hate, but that doesnt mean we should be broadcasting that; "hey! this is a place where sick people deserve to be laughed at!! go make fun of them and make them feel crazy for being mentally ill". im absolutely positive that it wasnt your intention to imply that, but people who come across this video will do what they want with the information you give them. I may be overly-concerned, but i think maybe you should have considered not posting this like you had said. your frustration is understandable, but the outlet was a strange choice.
fair point. i made this video bc i used to have an ed for 3ish years, and the obsession with being skinny all over social media (twitter) now makes me really mad. especially because i dont interact with edtwt at all whatsoever, and yet it is still recommended to me constantly on my feed. i understand an ed is a mental illness, but that doesn’t mean a person with an ed gets a free pass to say whatever they want on social media fat shaming people. many of the photos they use as ‘fatspo’ are just normal people who they then plaster on their page shaming them. again, not talking about ed support communities, but the toxic side of edtwt. i am making this video bc im sick of that side of the internet getting away with being horrible to others. not everyone with an ed is like this, but i think the ones who are like this REALLY need help. im trying to point out how ridiculous the things they tweet are. i hesitated posting because i had a feeling it would get some response like this (again, fair point) but in the end, decided to still post because id rather speak up about this problem and not stay quiet to avoid criticism. i am very satirical and have dry humor, but that does not mean i dont take this issue seriously; eds are truly an epidemic among youth today. i dont think this video is exposing them to things they dont know already (if someone young is watching). btw this is a long message but written with LOVE 💜 💜💜 OKAY, I PROMISE I MEAN NO ILL INTENT!!! I just wanted to explain my thought process more.
