The Transformers (retroactively called Generation 1 or G1) started as a joint venture between two companies: Hasbro of America and Takara of Japan. One day takara decided to re-brand them, as a whole new line with a new concept behind it, Hasbro unknowingly would wind up creating what would be one of its longest-running franchises.

@227060 My thoughts exactly. They had no problem killing off Jazz, Bonecrusher, Brawl, Blackout, Arcee, Devastator, etc yet they had tons more nameless faceless drones to kill off. Additionally if they had so many faceless figures to kill off then why did they need to clone the constructicons. One set to fight the autobots in the desert while the other forms devastator?
@227060 As for contiuity? HOOO BOY. G1's cartoon was split after the third season between Japan and America. America got five episodes after that. Japan got a new season and a few spin off indirect follow ups including an OVA. While the toys in the later never got cartoon appearance in america, they did show up in the...comics... And this is where it gets interesting. Not only did the comics do their own thing initially but they re-wrote some of the characters from Japan's G1 and stuff too.
prime is its own thing, the original War for cybertron was a reimaging of before G1 (because of some continuaty issues.) fall of cybertron is an offical seqaul to WFC.

And they had more resources to do it with: allspark shards and matrix. The robot designs went downhill too, unicycles, pogosticks, and other various walking junkpiles. No. Armada is part of the Unicron Trilogy which includes Armada, Energon, and Cyberton. That trilogy is completely separate from the more recent universes like the Live Action, Animated (Which has both Bumblebee and Hot Shot in it), and the current Prime/War/Fall of Cybertron universe as well as previous universes such as Generation 1, the Beast Era, and the Robots in Disguise universe. Interestingly, the original name for Hot Shot WAS to be Bumblebee in Armada.

Transformers' G1 cartoon was made similarly to Megaman's from what I can tell. Was made in Japan AND America, used western animation style, and aired in both nations on the same year.
@227060 Course if you want to talk continuity mishaps I got six words: "Unicron Trilogy" "Vector Prime" and "The Thirteen" The later two were supposed to help fix the continuity errors in cybertron after the writers decided to screw hasbro over when they released it in japan (as Galaxy Force). They only turned it into a multiverse equivalent of a timy whimy wibbly wobbly ball (see tvtropes if you don't understand my use of that phrase in the context).

They are trying to find shelter and they run into what they think is a cave. They see this faded metal object on the wall. They brush the dust off of it and the eyes light up. And they find themselves in long forgotten Autobot base.
I don't even think Decepticons would hate this song. I think they would ride into battle on top of the predacons or insecticons and wreck havoc to the autobots or vice versa while the autobots ride on top of the dinobots,

I actually really liked Animated, they made a lot of great references. I'd say it's up there with the best of them. I don't watch Prime, but it looked alright, I suppose.My opinion is only three Tranformers series really made the top: G1, Beast Wars, and Animated. Remember: Lots of people hated Beast Wars when it aired.
