A lot of appreciation here. Love for OPR and their drive to keep this incredible game balanced. Love for the new wave of content creators like yourself who are passionate enough to provide frank analysis on where that balance needs improvement. And love for a community that cares enough about this game to raise passions when we're discussing numbers values on our tiny painted figurines. So long as we all remain respectful and kind, this game will only get better and better.
I'll say it again and again. I hope my content inspires others to start producing OPR content. I was so happy to hear some people reach out to me to say they are starting UA-cam channels. I'll be spreading the word for their channels once they come online.
You are right about the communication, its time to hire some people to do the community interface and social media. These youtube updates tend to wander and there is a lot of time wasted unnecessarily.
@@legatus_newt I understand where you are coming from. But this is what businesses have to do...make tough decisions. Perhaps that means cutting back on ventures that arent as profitable.
@@NexusWargaming This is not a tough decision to be made it's unrealistic. I very highly doubt you can consider them profitable at all. We don't have insight into their finances but I doubt based on my experience with early stage businesses is that OnePageAnon is unlikely to be paying himself a significant salary compared to how much is spent on contracting the artists and all the expenses involved in running the business. Even if every patreon supporter sticks around got a year at the $10 tier you're taking about less than $200,000 in revenue to run this whole business.
@@legatus_newt one way OPR can succeed is by embracing help from the community. It’s got to be less about “him” and more about “us”. I can understand your perspective, but we all want OPR to succeed. Hopefully this is a learning experience along the way 🙂
The new Assault Charge not being mentioned on the page with Charge rules in the rulebook does seem to be a sign it might have been a bit rushed. It does seem like it would benefit best from either being it's own Assault Action which would then allow for it's own page of clarified rules or make it an ability that you add to hybrid units. At the moment it's really hidden away in the rules.
I would like them to bring in full use of shooting and melee. If you pay full points for weapons, you should get full use out of them. But that just my opinion
Hello thanks for the analysis. Assault action seems a great idea but never applied in our last game. We found that, due to half limitation mouvement, this rule is a "payback" action for non killed unit with guns after being charge. The moral rule is great, giving last hope to do something for unit that were hopeless after being decimated. However half movement make it nealy useless. Except again for a last payback shot of the last remaining brother with a missile launcher.
The “complaining” comment could possibly be chalked up to English not being his first language. He may not know how to soften the wording, or even understand the perception his delivery could cause.
I can definitely understand that, but I would really encourage someone reviewing his script. OPR is getting larger and more people will be on these calls.
I watched the clip and its honestly such a honest and innocent comment. Zero malice. people *were* complaining about alien hives being too powerful, he was right to listen and comment on it. It wasnt inappropriate, it was a genuine communication, and is not this big of a deal.
I appreciate the feedback! My biggest concern is that for OPR to become a global company, it must act like a global company. I believe these calls will become more popular and the OPR should work on their communication strategy. I really am trying to encourage OPR to fix these issues before they cause further problems.
This was my first thought as well. I work for a company with folks from all over the world . Probably half of which English is their second or third language. So, I have had to learn to give folks grace and try to listen to what they are trying to say versus the words they are using.
Regarding your "Complaints about Alien Hives" comment, the loudest complaints I heard from the community were using your videos as a reference, and honestly using them poorly. I agree though that Assult needed more tweaking to find a better solution.
Strange, I heard from others about Alien Hives being a problem last year. I had played against some soft lists and didn’t think they were an issue. Once I tested them though, I had to agree with those who were concerned with the army. Since then people have reached out to me saying their local games were not fun due to AH players just crushing them.
We played yesterday and just ignored the changes... will continue too likely. The whole hybrid issue could be solved with a new ability you can just add to pistols, stating that they are also melee weapons. Done. Honestly though, I like OPR, but Warsurge and Xenos Rampant are fine games to in the same niche.
I am open to different solutions. I dont have to answer, but OPR cannot continue to have these sorts of updates. There are new competitors popping up every day!
I find it odd you ask about if an opponent removes casualties to bring them out of charge range, then the very next bullet point complain about rules bloat to address corner cases. I'm only a Firefight player right now, so I don't know about the full rules. So from that outsider perspective, the statements you made seem contrary to each other. Maybe you could clarify for me, let me know if I'm missing something?
Many of the issues are already addressed with the 3.3.1 changes. I would note that the owner basically agreed with my assessment when he changed it. Give the full game a try. Firefight is very different from what I mainly focus on. 🙂
Don't get me wrong I love opr and I am actively pushing it in my community, but I was concerned in the live stream where he said he was the only one working on rules. With how large the community is growing and the fact he is hiring people there should at least be one other person going over them. Also the fact he does not get a lot of time to play his game is concerning, because he is busy with all the other business stuff.
Thank youi! That is my exact point. He cannot do everything himself. For OPR to grow to the company we want, he's got to delegate more and focus on his strongsuits.
Thanks! I understand where you are coming from, but do feel this should have been on the call. It's a big change to the game. I do have to disagree that morale was nerfed, but will be play testing to see if that plays out.
To not complain, I'm going to say what I DO agree with: I really wish morale would work like old hammer fantasy. If your shaken/routed/morale broken (lol), you roll x dice and have to head directly against the enemy. Then you /must/ spend the next turn recovering. If you run off the board, you're wiped. Otherwise, stats remain the same. Short, simple, and easy.. Which is why we play it that way. It's OPR, imho -nothing- should ever allow a way for units to just be "removed" without saves.
I don't want to complain about someone complaining about another person's complaint. But your video has no context nor what he actually said what he was talking about and what people are arguing as the reason he shouldn't be complaining. Why do you think we're all informed from somewhere else? This same thing happened in your video with the fantasy tier list. If you're going to provide news and information for the community of OPR, it might benefit The channel practicing as though you're the only source of information for your fans, even if some of some of them request additional information.
Thanks for the feedback! I generally take the stance that I will provide my opinions as best I can and assume the viewer will make their own decision. That said I do provide context in many of my videos that I’m focusing on the competitive side of the game. I also try to get people on with different thoughts and even people who disagree with me.
Sorry for my joking tone, I have really enjoyed the videos and learn from them. I think I am probably not subscribed or lack the resources most viewers might have because I find that certain things aren't announced first and it's more of a meta view like you have been saying. I look forward to seeing you grow as OPR gets more popular! I love it compared to Warhammer and hope more people are introduced to it!@@NexusWargaming
He needs to - and hopefully will - slow down with these updates. What I hate most is releasing core rules every few months. Absolutely retarded. Also the OpR discord is very cultish - they’re going towards a GW crown where any critique one gives is met with “oh that’s how he made it so whatever “ or “if you don’t like it don’t play or use the rule”. Such children. I’m a Competetive player who plays Raw - These changes will not effect me at all but obviously some did not have to transpire. I agree with a lot of what you mentioned but Gaetano needs to relax with these changes because the only thing that’s going for this system are the rules and if he messes them up in the future through bloat and bad writing - people will not stick around for the “lore “ or models.
You can tell he is spending too much time tinkering when he talks about potential rules updates. There have been some bad ideas he's put out about the v4 he wants to make next year
I don’t feel the same at all. I play heavy hybrid armies and opr really makes me not enjoy playing those. You yourself nexus have had to completely we write army books over the “tax” of units having pistols or mixed weapons. So I think while the assault rule isn’t perfect yet it is needed.
@@heathsanders7579 I don't mind the Assault rule's premise, but the current implementation has been problematic. For now, I don't have the solution to the problem other than giving hybrid units a "non-hybrid" version with things like Limited on weapons. I'm open to suggestions!

How do you suppose they hire community managers. Based on their patreon they barely make enough to pay one person a full time salary.
