    Something that I always like to bring up is how fitting the title of “The wrong way to put out a fire” is. It’s honestly a perfect way of looking at what Endeavor did to Touya. Endeavor sparked the fire, and instead of giving it calm and gentle water or something to put it out, he basically poured gasoline and paint thinner on it, and then proceeded to ignore the fire and let it build, not realizing that he was not only the root of the problem but also the primary one making it worse.
    And by the time he did realize that, it was all just too little too late.
    I've said it before, and I'll say it again, It'll take a lifetime's worth of atonement before I look at Endeavor any differently.

      I have a similar analogy- Enji added benzene, when 16 y/o Touya wanted to come back hoping things were better, only to find Enji was worse instead...

    The sad truth about the tragedy that turned Toya into the complete monster that's Dabi is that this whole thing could've been solved with simple dialogue when Toya was still a child but the reason it all went to hell is simply Endeavor and Rei were NOT ready to be parents especially Endeavor who at the time had no business even attempting to be a father given what he was like. Unlike the other siblings Toya was the only one who actually had the ambition Endeavor wanted from his chosen successor, and because of Endeavor's selfish desire it created an obsession within Toya that couldn't be put out by simply saying no and ignoring him. If the whole family had sat Toya down and spent the time to talk this through properly this whole thing could've been avoided, but Endeavor and Rei just were not ready to be Toya's parents and this is the cruel result of that.

    This episode pretty much solidified my love for Natsu, Fuyumi, and Rei as characters. Despite how little screentime they get, they've pretty much proven how strong they are just by being here because they ultimately care for each other that much. Like I said before, the Todoroki family plotline is easily the most engaging side story in my hero. Minus Enji, I would also say it's the best-written.

      Tbf, someone's kindness doesn't have too much to do with their forgiving nature. In some cases it does, but not so much here.

    My biggest problem is when people believe a man who's been selfish, neglectful, abusive and narcissistic for, at the very least, the past twenty-five years can change,
    but an abused, neglected, half-groomed- but emotionally and physically abandoned by said groomer- and traumatsied man, who's been on the streets for at least seven years (and all that entails), and a known, wanted villain for 1-2 years can't change...

      @@nyarlacroquette4015 Shigaraki never really blamed others specifically for the lives he took. He rightfully blames others for the problems with society, but not for his own crimes.
      And Dabi never really blamed others either, he's perfectly aware of what he's doing.

      Are we watching the same show? Endeavor only became physically and emotionally abusive when Touya was at least 5 or 6. You should also look up what grooming is.
      And last but not least, it's highly unlikely Dabo will change. He's insane. He's a mass murderer. Even if by some small miracle he had a change of heart, he should not be forgiven.
      Endeavor, on the other hand, has changed, and while he isn't exactly being forgiven, he is atoning.
      There's a clear difference between Endeavor and Dabi.

    Suzy, seeing that you're a wrestling fan, I think this is the easiest way to quickly sum up Toya's backstory and why he's become what he is: Toya: "Endeavor... ACKNOWLEDGE ME!" and Endeavor never did. It's so cruel looking back that for Toya, this was never about becoming the number 1 hero it was because he wanted his father to acknowledge him. If Endeavor had only done that, perhaps this would've been avoided

    Endeavour did a lot of bad Sh- that’s unforgiving, but the fact he realises what he did was wrong and he’s willing to fix things is what matters. This is one of my favourite episodes in the season 6. So well done, showing what happened and the light of hope that comes at the end. Hype to see your reaction to the next episode, big reveals in the next one.

    Endeavor has done a lot lately to redeem himself, and be better than he was. By this point in the series, we've actually gotten to like the guy. It's easy to forget how much we hated him when we first met him, and how awful he used to be. It's a little weird to see some sense in how he used to be, as well. That he wasn't just cruel to his kids for the sake of it. He saw Toya hurting himself every time he used fire, so he knew Toya should not live the life of a hero. He'd only destroy himself if he tried. So he tried to push Toya away from being a hero in a weird, cruel way to save him from himself.
    Endeavor wasn't cruel to Shoto just because, either. Toya's relationships to his siblings gave him a drive the Endeavor couldn't control, and resulted in Toya doing what he did. Endeavor saw childhood relationships as something that could destroy Shoto, like they helped destroy Toya. He didn't want to make that same mistake twice. Of course, he made all kinds of different mistakes, and was brutal and selfish about most of it. I guess I'm just glad he's a better man now than in the past. Always glad to see someone redeem themselves.

    • @natsuotodoroki
      @natsuotodoroki Рік тому +6

      I wouldn't say he's done "a lot" lately. If anything I consider it like, the bare minimum. It was a good start, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Maybe that's just a me thing though.

    Fans may disagree with this, but I think that the biggest mistake Endeavor made with Toya was trying to stop him from training. Toya's training should've continued, and here's why. Yes the doctor told Endeavor to have him stop using his quirk but it was clear that it didn't matter what anyone said Toya was not going to stop because of how Endeavor raised him and how it changed Toya mentally. So not only was he going to continue his training but now behind their backs without being supervised, which was even more harmful. Endeavor should've continued Toya's training but making it less quirk focused and lead Toya down a different path and be a close part of his development so that Toya could have a career in something other than being a hero because at the end of the day what Toya wanted was to be acknowledged by his father. Even if it wasn't working towards being a hero, if Endeavor had continued Toya's training but slowly changed it into leading him down a different path that didn't involve him harming himself this whole situation would've been avoided. Just my opinion but I truly think that Toya's training should've continued with Endeavor keeping his eyes on him.

    • @FeyPhantom
      @FeyPhantom Рік тому +2

      The main problem of Touya's training was that he and Endeavor focused on raising the temperature of his flames. He probably would have been able to do plenty of things had he focused more on creating shapes/using oxygen/other unique uses of fire that didn't involve ramping up the temperature. The only reason continuing the training never would have worked is because the Endeavor of those years could never see outside his ambition enough to recognize that power isn't what makes a person. The tragedy of it all is that it was inevitable because of the type of person Endeavor was.

    • @gantashiro978

      You're honestly not too far off. Touya and Endeavor's relationship wasn't that of a father and son, more of a trainer and student. Touya connected his self worth and worth to his father based off of how much he lived up to his expectations.
      Endeavor's problem wasn't exactly that he stopped the training, it was that he never truly stepped up as the father that Touya needed. Sure he encouraged him to pursue other things, but he offered little to no guidance, and even then, he was just saying that as he was continuing to find a successor.
      In that sense, I can't really blame Touya, a mentally unstable kid with no healthy coping mechanisms, to develop his abandonment issues and fears of being replaced, since yeah, in a lot of ways that's kinda what Endeavor was doing to him.

    I found Endeavor's past fully explained so interesting because it revealed that up to this point we had thought Endeavor as a father was from the beginning this cruel and awful boogeyman but in reality in the beginning that wasn't the case. Yes his reasoning for marrying Rei and forcing her to have children were morally taboo, but he wasn't this abusive monster we saw near the end of his backstory when he slapped Rei and screamed in everyone's faces. He slowly progressed into this disgusting excuse of a father. It's twisted and tragic but still very interesting to see in the story. I want to see Endeavor can a full redemption because heck, if Deku is willing to make an attempt to save Shigaraki then there's absolutely no way that redemption for Endeavor isn't possible.

    For me I just see a man who didn't know how to deal with this kind of stuff so he dumps it upon on the wife as he said "I only know the hero world" and things didn't worked out all the anger and frustrations was on rei. What I saw he did care for his children but didn't know how to nurture them emotionally hence the episodes name is "the wrong way to put out a fire" When he noticed Toya couldn't do it he said stop using it multiple times and even told him theirs a big world out their, when the accident happened endeavor was their crying out for toya.It's no excuse for the emotional and physical abuse he done to them. But I can't help to think that Toya is playing the victim his excuse he uses is shifting all the blame to endeavor.

      Uhhh it doesn't matter what Endeavor's perspective, those were his children he was fucking up through his actions (and non-actions). You don't get to be all "I was trying my best" when you're neglecting 3 kids, and abusing your other son and wife.
      Touya was slowly becoming aware of how fucked up their family all throughout his childhood, and he was trying to conceptualize that in his head when he talked to Natsuo at night. That fucks with you too, realizing that your family dynamic is abusive and abnormal, but still wanting your parents love.
