I honestly wish people would stop this fuckery with slow hondas. It just ruins it for the entire culture when this is what all those outside the culture consider all hondas/acuras to be. The car is fucking gorgeous. I know its potential. The muscle car cunts and german car snobs.. to them it's still a meme. We all bear a responsibility to change Honda's image, and expand the base if we actually care about the brand. Especially content creators. My individual opinion doesnt matter, I know. But please, for the love of Honda, make it fast or shut it the fuck up until it is.

  • @Brock_Landers
    @Brock_Landers 5 років тому +2

    Honestly buddy, I think your next step should be a low boost eBay turbo kit. I boosted my JDM D15B VTEC and even on 6 psi it was so much fun and SO much faster. You'd be surprised what those single cams are capable of when they're in good shape internally. I've ran as much as 12 psi through my D15B with almost zero issues for 8 months and the only reason I swapped to a B series is because I wanted more torque, not because of any mechanical issues. All in all, I was into that turbo setup for $450 for the manifold, turbo, wastegate, and downpipe, $75 for the DSM 450cc injectors, $25 for an OBD0 Civic resistor box, $100 for a virgin P28 manual ecu, $50 for a Xenocron socketing kit for the P28 ecu and a custom Crome basemap, $125 for a front mount intercooler, piping, and blow off valve, $50 for the 48" oil supply stainless braided hose, fittings, and 10an drain line with fittings, $20 for my buddy to weld the bung into my oil pan, $40 for a knockoff Walbro 255LPH fuel pump (that was upgraded to a real Walbro 560LPH Hellcat pump but still worked when I removed it, it was 2 years old), and $180 for an AEM wideband sensor and gauge. You should already be running the P28 unless you've already chipped and VTEC converted another ECU, so you wouldn't have to spend that $100-$150. All in all, I was into the turbo kit for $1115, and it was so much fun and lasted 8 months on the single cam, then I swapped in a B18B1 and adapted that turbo kit onto the B series other than the manifold and ran it for another 2 years. I eventually made 408 whp on that eBay turbo kit, so I can't really complain. I have more than that $1115 just in my turbo now.
    Edit: I sold that turbo and B series manifold to a friend of mine and he just made 516 whp on it and it's still going.

    • @harryazzole7814
      @harryazzole7814 5 років тому +1

      You made 408 stock internals? That's what I'm trying to push but haven't found many people doing it

    • @Brock_Landers
      @Brock_Landers 5 років тому +1

      @@harryazzole7814 Yeah, I made 408 whp on OEM PR4 internals with fresh rings, bearings, ARP rod bolts, ARP head studs, NPR rings, ACL standard bearings (mains and rods), Cometic MLS head gasket, Gates Racing timing belt, BC stage 2 turbo cams as well as dual valve springs with titanium retainers, AEM Tru-time adjustable cam gears, I also gasket matched the intake and ported and polished the exhaust runners, it had an eBay cast manifold, eBay .63AR T3/T4 turbo, eBay FMIC and piping, Tial F38 wastegate, Tial Q50 BOV, an AEM fuel rail with AEM FPR, 1000cc FID injectors, a Clutchmasters twin-disc clutch, on a GSR trans with an OBX LSD and an LS 5th gear, and it was running on a socketed P28 with a Crome Gold Pro tune that my buddy and I did on the street in the middle of BFE where he lives. The funny thing is that the engine actually lasted at that power level and never missed a beat, but I tore it down to install forged Wiseco 9.8:1 pistons and Eagle H-beam rods, but now it has 0.030 over CP 9.0:1 pistons with the same Eagle rods and a B16B Civic Type-R head with Skunk2 Tuner Stage 3 cams and dual valve springs with titanium retainers, a PLM top mount turbo manifold, a Garrett GT3582R dual ball bearing turbo, Grams 2200cc injectors, K-tuned composite fuel rail, Aeromotive external FPR, and it's tuned on Hondata S300 V3 with the Hondata CPR coil on plug kit and currently makes 612 whp on 22.5 psi. The turbo needs a bigger T4 exhaust housing to make any more, but 612 whp is plenty to run 10s, I just need to make the suspension modifications and set it up properly to hook.

    • @Brock_Landers
      @Brock_Landers 5 років тому +1

      @@harryazzole7814 The biggest thing buddy, is to start with a good foundation. It's always best to tear the engine down and replace the rings with NPR rings (DON'T CHEAP OUT ON THESE), hone the cylinder walls, and replace the bearings with standard sized ACL standard bearings, as the Race bearings are a little thicker than the standard. I made 408 on 18 psi.

      @@Brock_Landers dude, I'd buy you a beer if you lived in DFW. Thanks soooooo much for a well articulated and overly-in-depth reply that I've been looking for ever since I bought this car in June. I bought it already boosted but it was so shit and had so many problems and was on eBay everything except for a Precision wastegate and Hondata S300. Since then I've switched to a discontinued PFAB stainless manifold, a Koyo half sized radiator with a gigantic 20amp SPAL fan on a switch, a Treadstone 700HP intercooler and a Greddy BOV. I'm currently at 13 PSI on the eBay Turbonetics Super 60 clone and I'd guess it makes around 300 wheel. I had heard about the unicorn stories about people pushing these stock blocks and heads to 400 with cams and supporting mods but hadn't seen anything concrete. I'm not trying to break records with it, but I do want to send it close to 380ish while I build another block with a good bottom end. I'm getting tuned at the end of November once I have my FIC 1200s and a DW300 to upgrade the fuel from the current Walbro 255 and decapped GM injectors. Thanks so much for the info again, was expecting a standard reply.

      @Brock_Landers 5 років тому +1

      @@harryazzole7814 No problem at all brother, I have ADHD really badly, so I always think that I'm going overboard with my comments, but I'm happy if my comment helped at all. I have always been a big fan of Honda since the mid to late 90s and when the first FnF came out in 2001 I had just moved back to Pittsburgh and I traded my modified Eddie Bauer Explorer for a 92 Integra and it was curtains for me from there. I am 36 and this is my first really fast Honda. I turbocharged that 92 Integra and made 256 whp with it, but that was on all junkyard parts and the original SSAutochrome turbo manifold (the OG of all of the Chinese eBay sellers) back in 2003. That was a B18A1 on a T3 Dodge Daytona turbo that I bought for $50 from a junkyard. I had the fastest DA Integra around here back then. Anyway, I'm happy to be of some help. I wish you the best with your search for 400s. I just built a B16A with those same Wiseco 9.8:1 pistons and another set of Eagle rods just in case...

    I was just typing a comment about how you should've spent a few bucks more and bought an eBay header when you showed it and the cast manifold side by side...my man. My Civic makes a few more horsepower than this one, but I had a K-tuned cat-back on my EJ8 coupe and it sounded pretty good, even through the turbo, but I had always wanted a Thermal Research exhaust and I got a chance to get a brand new one for free because I won an online raffle, so I scooped their Thermal Research Turbo 3" cat-back exhaust and it sounds amazing. I'm sure that HKS exhaust sounds amazing too in person. I'm older though and while my Civic makes 612 whp and is a purpose built racecar, it's also a show car. Alot of people in my position are running side exit or hood exit, but I always wanted mine to be streetable and not sound ridiculous.

      @Brock_Landers 5 років тому +1

      @@harryazzole7814 Buddy, I'm telling you, not just as an older adult, but as a fellow Honda enthusiast, you will be so much happier with a nice mellow deep sounding Thermal Research exhaust. I will post a video soon of how my car sounds on my channel so everyone can hear it since I've modified everything so much again, but if you drive your car at all you'll be so much happier with a full exhaust over a droney loud and booming hood exit. I, as well as so many others, are against hood exits because while they have their place on the race track, they just sound like ass on the street and all they do is grab everyone's attention. Now a smooth sounding Thermal Research exhaust is nice and quiet at idle, but once that turbo spools up and you get into the throttle it sounds absolutely amazing. One of these days I will post the videos that I have of my car on the DynoJet.

    I drive a stage 2 2011 wrx and I laugh every time I hear a Honda try and rip it down my street. I can put my clothes on, my boots, jacket walk out and they’ll still be in the same spot.

    What are your thoughts on Heat wraps for the tube headers? How are you liking the Exhaust now since you’ve had it for a few days?

      @Kevin Carbajal Wrapping the "Header)(One only, not two) won't prevent backfiring.

      I wrapped my 3" turbo downpipe as well as my PLM top mount turbo manifold and I installed a turbo blanket on my GT3582R on my EJ8 coupe to keep underhood temps down and although I have a large front mount intercooler, my air intake temps went down by almost 20 degrees on average due to the wrap muffling the heat. I will say that it's best to soak the wrap in warm water for a couple of hours before you install it, and once it's wrapped try not to spill oil or coolant on it because it's going to retain most of it and it'll smoke like crazy for a while afterwards. I spilled coolant on my downpipe when I went from an eBay aluminum radiator to a Mishimoto radiator and it still smokes slightly, but I swapped those radiators 4 months ago.
      Edit: Also, if you're going to install it buy some 1 7/8 - 2 1/4 hose clamps and use those on each end of your wraps instead of those junk stainless bands. I could never get those tight enough and my wraps would always come loose at the ends.
