In another video, I learned only about the inserts. Yours enriched that understanding with the box.

Can you please post a link to where you purchased the m2x28 locking bar? I can't find them. Wondering how hard it would be to cut down m2x30 locking bar

Then import it and a base generated from the Gridfinity generator (by setting bin height to 0) into your CAD software, convert them both to meshes, refine the meshes, convert them to solids, add them to a new body, and attach a Gridfinity base to a custom box!

I want to say AliExpress but I can't for the life of me find the email receipt to confirm that at the moment.
I do remember that the requested dimensions of M2x28mm is not a common parallel pin size, but I think you should be safe getting on that's M2x26mm if you can't find them (though untested).

@@3DRevolution thank you, I found them on aliexpress and bought 20 pack for $5. Then found them on ebay also. Have another question, I printed a box with petg, came out great. then printed the lid with supports (hinge down), but the supports needed to be rather dense to bridge the large flat surface. tried two different support styles and density. both adhered to the part so much that using a hammer and chisel removed the bulk of the support material. Now I have lots of sanding to do to get down to the part itself. Any suggestions about print orientation or supports? Thinking I may try to print vertically with a wide brim, but I have applied text on the top of lid that probably won't come out so nice as with printing with lid flat on build plate (with supports underneath). Let me know your thoughts. thank you.

Excellent video, i will try to make a steam deck case, then download a steam deck model, to set inside of the case with the model as a negative part, and try to make print the hollow points inside the case for the deck to fit. Let's hope it works.

Thanks for sharing this, but I might have missed something - why would anyone want to print a two layer box like this? that to me is a huge waste of time and filament for a fluted decoration? I love the liner generator but the box design is garish and bulky.

most likely could be done as a single unit, but my guess is to provide options such as different colors for the inside, as shown, or perhaps even different materials such as TPU. Perhaps to pad and protect the contents.

Try importing the stl into Tinkercad then exporting it back out. I’ve done that to fix models that the Windows service failed to fix.

@@imacmill - I use Linux. The last time I used Windows was Windows 98. I always hated Windows. It's certainly true that Apple privacy is more of a marketing issue than a technical issue. Apple privacy is like MSG at a Chinese restaurant.
      "Does this have MSG?"
      "You want MSG?"
      "NO!"
      "OK. No MSG."
Apple marketing realizes that customers want privacy and security but that's at odds with their profit maximization strategy that monetizes their customers' personal data, so they create ads touting their privacy and security while quietly selling customer data on the back end, just like all of the other tech companies.
PS - For a good time, get a Pixel phone and install GrapheneOS for enhanced privacy and security. Obviously, don't install Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and every "free" game you can find, although GrapheneOS does a good job of restricting app access to protect your privacy. You can even use GrapheneOS to create different users with separate logins, like Linux, so the spyware you can't live without can run under a phantom user that has no personal info to harvest.

Instead of getting screws and pins in that 2mm size, how about trying with something that we already have, and which would fit in those holes: 1.75mm filament. With a dab of glue, or a touch of a soldering iron, that ought to work.

The shear strength of ABS filament is fairly high. Stainless pins would last much longer but ABS filament might work for occasional light duty use.
