it wasn't a kingmaker, since not voting coven would result in a town loss; which is a gamethrow for town since voting a coven member ends it in a draw. Also coven definitely deserved to lose for thinking they already won the game and outing themselves.

It did not matter who they won with and could do whatever. Being the last town in an unwinnable game is not the kingmaker problem they were trying to solve. Its those pesky NE or NB that already won.

I was Jack and that is what i did. We didn't know 15 his role, but did know he was evil for sure. I tried to get 14 his trust but the other cocky coven just ruined it.
To be fair, really low chance 14 was mayor. I am unsure though if coven could win. Does game auto end if its only Coven and Doomsayer? Because this mayor would have blocked the vote against the coven in a stalemate.
Not gonna lie, I really respect pipe for reading what the chat says. I am someone with almost no vision, who cannot read at all, so having this is really nice. Also, explaining what he does, and explaining what other players say/do in the game is actually super helpful for me to understand what’s happening in the game. Thank you Pipe

The mayor has to give the doomsayer the win there, not because he wants to give it to him, but because coven was being so smug and thought nothing could go wrong anymore.

You know, I've always thought that if you were to convert a town of salem game into story format/plot, it would become a really interesting story generating machine. Endless different outcomes, endless amount of plot twists, would be crazy and I could imagine it being made into a story even if it's short, like based off of a single game or several games.

I think there should be a vague chat message the morning after a doom fail to announce the presence of a doomsayer without giving away who it is. Something along the lines of "The Old Ones are displeased..." It will put you on a bit of a timer like the apocalypse roles when they transform since town now knows you exist and will (probably) be looking for you.
A good idea. This could actually help a Doomsayer see if theres any other Dooms in the game (like arso) by not guessing N1 and watching for the message.
Yeah of all the doomsayer nerfs I’ve seen this is a nice one. personally in my 6ish hours of TOS2 so far I haven’t seen a single doomsayer win, so I’m not inclined to say that doomsayer is too op, but this is a nice little QoL thing

Theres something so satisfying about these last second doomsayer wins. I had one earlier with a mayor, tavernkeeper, a coven, and a coroner that had dced. I managed to talk them into not voting, saying the tav should rb the coven so we could see if the DC was the evil. I had already figured out who was who by then lmao.
It's *way too easy* to win as Doomsayer, since there is absolutely no punishment for guessing wrong. You can just keep brute-forcing until you get it right. You also have defense, so there isn't even a sense of urgency - you won't be getting killed early. They absolutely need to add some sort of mechanic where if you guess incorrectly 3 times the Old Ones get furious and kill you, OR make it so that one of the 3 targets *needs* to be evil so it isn't always 3 townies getting screwed, OR you make it so Doomsayer can't target "revealed" roles like Mayor, Pros etc.

The devs can always just delete that achievement if they were to rework the class, not a hard achievement to get anyway.

I think the best way to balance Doomsayer is to make it so if you guess 1 wrong you have to wait one night to guess again, 2 for 2 and 2 for 3 to punish not knowing

I was Jack this game. I knew that Pipe(15) was evil, just didn't know what he was. I was roleblocking him so he couldn't attack either of us and i was faking Tavern Keeper so look legit. I tried to get the trust of 14 to lynch 15, but at the end it backfired lol.
Jack, you forgot the most important rule as a role blocking role. "You cannot roleblock the same person twice!" To be fair, you could have been new but 2 (Medusa) was a very grim person. They gloated too early.
I had an intriguing pirate game Saturday Morning.N1: Pirate 15 [I lose], D2 15 gets hung, they were Jinx. N2: Pirate 14 since people were pointing fingers so to speak at them after 15 was lynched [I win, PB dies] D3: Town thanks Pirate, things happen, fingers get pointed at 7, I decide "Why not? I got my first win by following the fingers so lets do it again": [I win, Dreamweaver dies, I leave town with my loot] D4: People say TY Pirate and GG Pirate. I kinda tuned out the rest of the game since I had won but town managed to win, thanks in part to me rbing the Jinx N1, killing the PB N2 & Dreamweaver N3.
Yes, because it’s easier to differentiate between town roles (they’re usually honest with who they are), and coven (who will never say in day chat which specific role they are)

How are they suppose to work out what role a coven is? Because of the change to book kills in ToS 2, it's almost impossible to guess who the killing coven role is unless they kill a player with defence
Mayor acting like the Neutral Evil at the end of the game there. I feel like there def needs to be some way of dealing with multiple doomsayers though or just in general. It is close to being on part with the Jester, another NE role. But given the fast-paced nature the game can take on it can be difficult to change it without changing the base of the newly introduced role vs other roles that exist. Maybe changing the name/mechanics of the role to be more thematic for starters, the role is mostly a guess and check method rather than acting like a doomsday clock which is how I'd expect a role called doomsayer to work.

I was Jack this game. I knew that Pipe(15) was evil, just didn't know what he was. I was roleblocking him so he couldn't attack either of us and i was faking Tavern Keeper so look legit. I tried to get the trust of 14 to lynch 15, but at the end it backfired lol.
Jack, you forgot the most important rule as a role blocking role.
"You cannot roleblock the same person twice!"
To be fair, you could have been new but 2 (Medusa) was a very grim person. They gloated too early.
I had an intriguing pirate game Saturday Morning.N1: Pirate 15 [I lose], D2 15 gets hung, they were Jinx. N2: Pirate 14 since people were pointing fingers so to speak at them after 15 was lynched [I win, PB dies] D3: Town thanks Pirate, things happen, fingers get pointed at 7, I decide "Why not? I got my first win by following the fingers so lets do it again": [I win, Dreamweaver dies, I leave town with my loot] D4: People say TY Pirate and GG Pirate. I kinda tuned out the rest of the game since I had won but town managed to win, thanks in part to me rbing the Jinx N1, killing the PB N2 & Dreamweaver N3.
So doomsayer doesn't need to know the specific coven role, only that it's coven?
Due to how they changed coven kills to only say a coven killed and not which specific role, it makes sense.
Yes, because it’s easier to differentiate between town roles (they’re usually honest with who they are), and coven (who will never say in day chat which specific role they are)
@@Caboose4859 I figured that might be the reasoning. I just hadn't seen a doomsayer guess coven before. This does make it a little easier for both doomsayer and Town.

In the future they will probably nerf doomsayer because if you just randomly shot people as a faction and guess right then where's the fun in that?
How are they suppose to work out what role a coven is? Because of the change to book kills in ToS 2, it's almost impossible to guess who the killing coven role is unless they kill a player with defence

I feel like there def needs to be some way of dealing with multiple doomsayers though or just in general. It is close to being on part with the Jester, another NE role. But given the fast-paced nature the game can take on it can be difficult to change it without changing the base of the newly introduced role vs other roles that exist.
Maybe changing the name/mechanics of the role to be more thematic for starters, the role is mostly a guess and check method rather than acting like a doomsday clock which is how I'd expect a role called doomsayer to work.
Doomsday clock feels too similar to SC/Death tho ngl

Coven wins, because doomsayer just like jester, executioner, pirate are bystander roles, the game can end with them still in the game
