There is no law specifying the minimum distance people can approach a sea turtle. However, getting close to these animals may constitute a federal or state violation if the animal is disturbed or if your action has the potential to disturb its natural behavioral patterns.

But we’ve never seen a single honu, much less an entire colony like you came across! That’s amazing! In relation to the park you show in that final drone shot and the main channel cut, where were you snorkeling? And what equipment are you shooting? GoPro? And did you use it for everything in this vid? Thanks and sorry for all the questions!
Thanks Dan. Besides the few short arial clips from my DJI Air 2S drone, everything else was shot from the GoPro Hero 9. Almost all of the snorkeling was done at Anini beach. Yes the channel has some great snorkeling but the best wasn’t far off the beach. Especially for the turtles. They were in the flats around some small reef sections.
I'll be there in 2 weeks. Aren't you supposed to be 30 ft from turtles and seals? Just checking. I really hope to get video of rhe Hawaiian state fish.

We have been two times and our third is in September. Seeing this just makes me count down the day. Sure hope to see some seahorses .
