My friend and I just followed this tutorial to make plumbobs to wear around a convention this weekend. The tutorial was easy to follow and our plumbobs look great. Thank you!!
An alternate way to do this is to make a pattern of all the triangles coming off of the hexagon in a "sun" pattern, then cut that out of cardboard, scoring the base of each triangle so they fold up after you glue it to the glitter paper and cut it out. :)
Love that you took a common Halloween costume and showed us how to make a super good quality version! Yours is instantly the best tutorial for this :) great job!
I've been planning for weeks on being a sim, and this can help me out! I also want to say that you don't have to wear anything, you can buy a sweatshirt and decorate it with a llama and Plumbob and more to make it look like it's a sims university sweat shirt (especially if its cold that day).
I found a paper folding tutorial to make my plumbob, but didn't know how to attach it. I did a version without hot glue and plan on sticking a straw from the bottom and using your wire trick to get it on a headband. That sparkly paper is so nice, I might just use that on top of my prototype version instead of re-doing the paper one with new paper. Thanks for the ideas and for sharing!
ua-cam.com/video/as9yOylGrp8/v-deo.html I used this tutorial, but repeated the last step twice to get a double fold in between each corner. Made it with 2 pieces of paper and folded the pointed ends into the pockets.
i only wrapped my wire around the headband twice. then i put duct tape over it and that seemed to hold it in place really well. I also taped ribbon on the headband so i could tie it on. I gonna wear it to a football game so i need that extra stability X3
I know this video was posted forever ago, but I wanted to say thank you for it, my brother surprised me with tickets to a local convention, so I needed a last minute costume idea and this one is perfect. I'm putting mine together tonight and I can't wait to see the finished product! Thanks again, Karen!
I love this tutorial! It's going to be one of my cosplays for Minneapolis Comic Con. :) One tip I have is if you're really bad at hot glue (like me), sharpie the edges of your pieces before you put it all together. Sharpie is not going to write over any hot glue that squishes out.
This is perfect thank you!! I work on Halloween this year and all I can wear for dress up is a head band or a hat and now I know exactly what I'm going to wear!!
I LOVE this! It's adorable and I never thought of it as something to keep around in case I need a last-minute costume. SO SMART! You are the best, Karen. I haven't played The Sims in a while because I would spend full days playing in high school and college without even realizing how much time had gone by. That game and its expansions also filled up the entire hard drive of the desktop computer I had in high school.
You mentioned tissue boxes, but another great source of chipboard is often dry cleaners will put a sheet of thin cardboard inside shirts to keep them flat when you bring them home.
Thanks so much for this awesome tutorial! I haven't bought Sims 4 yet because I'm still trying out new things with the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection I downloaded a few months ago. You could say I'm currently obsessed, which led to me wanting to go as a Sim for Halloween.
I made this for my friend, and it looked amazing! Now i need to make one for myself, and then a red one like when the sim is angry and a yellow one for unconfortable.
I had already decided last month that this was going to be my halloween costume! so cool! I already have all the materials! I'm putting a green light in mines though so it glows!
thank you for this!! I'm going to a Halloween party tomorrow and i made this tonight using ur pdf and all. i only had an issue with getting the wire around the headband because mine was thicker. hopefully it'll work just as well. thanks again!
Im a sims 3 addict! I have all the expansion packs and i have sims 4, this is amazing and i will be dressing up as a sim for halloween! Do you think you could do a video on how to make the pixelated coverup? :)
I made this only hanged one thing when I made the bottom part I cut off the tips of the triangles and added a small piece of Woden dowel to glue to the headband I still put the wire to wrap around the dowel though loved the video btw ❤️
yay and easy one to make. I am going this kinda harry potter festival(kinda because they no longer is allowed to use harry potter stuff) and I just made up my mind to be the guy in red jacket from sims 4 realm of magic
I wanted to do a fancy dress, but I broke my foot yesterday so I need a new idea😂 I hope to loose the cast and only have a splint for halloween. Every year I go to a museum exhibit show for halloween so I need a costume.. So Im gonna have to do this 😂 thank you for the pattern and idea!
Thank you so much for making this. Gonna put the finishing touches on tomorrow, scared about how it’s gonna come together tho. My exacto knife cuts are very crooked 😅
Hi! Do you possibly have a written-out step-by-step version of this?? I love this video, but my signal is horrible, and I can't get it to show me all of the supplies I'll need, and the steps to take. A printable version would be fantastic, if you don't mind! I've been dying to make this costume all year long!! I'd hate for poor wifi signal to be the source of my downfall! Thank you in advance, and I hope you have a very Happy Halloween!!! 😊🎃👻
Why wrap the wire around itself and so thick? wouldn't it be better to leave it a bit longer and as a single length to make it less viable from a distance? still love the idea of using the sequence to make it look shiny!
Hiya Karen!!! I love all of your videos, and I would really like to learn to start crafting, but I have no idea what supplies I would need... Could you make a video about crafting for beginners? (You might have dongle it already but I haven't seen it)
Idea is great, tutorial is clear and straightforward...but mine turned out to be an absolute disaster that took me all day and had me in tears by the end. I hope other people have more luck with it.
Shut up about her voice this diy is great omg

This is AWESOME! I was actually playing The Sims on my phone just now...
PuddingFishCakes Thanks! I should download it on my phone...
Making this tonight! I've been searching for days for a costume that isn't too obstructive but is still clever. So excited.
Cool ! You can always upgrade the costume by cosplaying Bella Goth
thank you for this comment because this totally elevated the costume and i love you

Thanks! I love this idea and how you made it durable! I enjoyed your easy-to-follow instructions.
I am going to use this wonderful idea for a Halloween party and I just love it!

Does the pdf work for anyone else? I’m trying to make one but the google drive says I need permission.
YES!!! This is fantastic!! Thank you!
How did you manage to keep your nails looking so neatly trimmed after working on a lot of DIY? Great DIY for this one!
I repaint my nails before almost every DIY video I film. I figure if you guys have to look at them so close up, they might as well look nice!
Karen Kavett Id love to see make lettering tutorials! Pleaaaase
Little lopsided (I'm terrible with stencils), but recognizable :)
Why wrap the wire around itself and so thick? wouldn't it be better to leave it a bit longer and as a single length to make it less viable from a distance? still love the idea of using the sequence to make it look shiny!
This is cool!

Hiya Karen!!! I love all of your videos, and I would really like to learn to start crafting, but I have no idea what supplies I would need... Could you make a video about crafting for beginners? (You might have dongle it already but I haven't seen it)
Sugar Sparkles I made that video a while ago! Basic Art Supply Kit // Great for Back to School or Beginner DIY Projects!
Idea is great, tutorial is clear and straightforward...but mine turned out to be an absolute disaster that took me all day and had me in tears by the end. I hope other people have more luck with it.
