My father sang this hymn right through just about every day of my childhood. Two days ago it was his 115th birthday. (Mum's yesterday) Thankyou for the beautiful memories.
We went to the Billy Graham crusade in Nashville, Tennessee in 1954 and heard this song sung! Wow what a powerful song! You do a beautiful job of it. It sounds just like it did during the crusade when Cliff Barrows lead it. What a spirit when you sing these awesome old songs. Thank you.
A truly wonderful and inspiring rendition of this beautiful hymn. The music and choir bring back treasured memories of growing up in our little country church.
One of my many favorites. I especially love the third verse. Gid is so so GREAT. We can take salvation for granted but it came with such a great price our Jesus had to pay. I love your singing and your Spirit.
Thankyou! This was my late father's favourite hymn. He sang it right through just about every day. All too often these days hymns like this are sung with verses left out! There's no reason for that! No reason whatsoever!!!
I have always had an afection for this song since I was at primary school and getting saved years ago And meeting my then pastor James McConnell i was rejvenated in the Belfast tabnacle i have since been told he has passed on to glory land and I will return my home said in the tabernacle soon as possible i pray for the lord God almighty to bless my family in Belfast and hope to share this with my brother's and sisters in Whitwell s church soon or if any brother and sister in the lord in Belfast would contact me please feel free to contact me William Francis from larkhall
I love this song. My husband and I were in senior year of Bible college when this song was written. We were heading to the mission field in Brazil. We sang that song in happy times and difficult times. I’m 94 and still loving the message of it.
Whenever I hear this beautiful hymn, the glorious voice of George Beverly Shay circles inside my head...and my heart sings with joy at the miracle of the human voice. Thank you for posting this video!

Minha alma canta ao Senhor, que linda expressão de adoração. Cantei muitas vezes essa declaração de amor ao meu Deus, tanto no coral como hino congregacional. Ainda me emociona
Very encouraged to see that some of the old great hymns are still sung in Church! But, my goodness - that was painfully slooooow. I thought the music was going to stall out!
You are right. Far too often churches tend to cut verses out and only partially sing hymns like this, and they do so with such painful slowness it sounds like a funeral dirge! I will never understand why it is so!

Thank You Ronald, not really as various praise teams are taking centre stage in all main Services 99% of time now. Congregational do join in singing most of the time tho they are not always shown or heard in live stream / videos etc
Very sad, how anyone can think a praise band is anywhere close to this is beyond any human or spiritual comprehension of mine. Yes this has been replaced all around the world. Almost surreal.
@@kevinwilliamson9900 I agree. That’s why I really enjoy watching these congregational hymns. This church did it as well as anyone I have seen anywhere.

Brought me to tears. My mother requested this song at her funeral. Everyone in attendance joined in. Large attendance. God bless
You are the same as me
sung at mine as well.
How Great Thou Art & The old Rugged Cross have to be the most popular hymns of all time. Beautifully and powerful sung. 😢
Hallelujah! It's a great chorus and is one of my favorite Gospel songs. Thanks for that & I appreciate it! Amen forever and ever!
this is how such hymns should be sung! contemplatively, prayerfully, worshipfully!
When I need to be uplifted I go to Whitewell and hear this great singing.

So sad the stage shows dampening the congregational enthusiastical singing with a Choir. Love it. Thank you

Unbelievably slow.
I love this song whether it is sung as a prayer or the normal pace.
