From tragedy to triumph, YOB’s incredible 8th full-length recording was conceived amidst dire circumstances that nearly left frontman Mike Scheidt dead. Suffering from an extremely painful and potentially fatal intestinal disease, Scheidt miraculously recovered and reinvigorated the Oregon trio with a new sense of purpose for Our Raw Heart, an album informed by the will to survive. More exposed than ever both physically and emotionally, YOB bleed out seven riveting tracks of enormous volume and pensive, transcendental beauty across 75 minutes of ultimate doom. A brilliant musical progression in the YOB continuum, Our Raw Heart is the band at their most aggressive, impassioned and eclectic. The riffs are massive, the vocals captivating and the songwriting sublime. Existing in its own organic universe, Our Raw Heart is truly the band’s finest work to date and the apex achievement of what heavy music can accomplish. Our Raw Heart was co-produced by the band and longtime collaborator Billy Barnett at Gung Ho Studio in Eugene, Ore., with mastering handled by Heba Kadry (The Mars Volta, Diamanda Galas, Slowdive).
Ask one of the members if they were ever hanging out with a girl named Alexis in Albany, Oregon and they stopped by a dude`s shitty one bedroom apartment behind a Subway and he had a Washburn sunburst...
I saw them play this live a few months ago and my stomach pretty much dropped at how intense this damn riff is. I've also done sound for Mike for his solo project and it's just as intense and heart felt as this album. Mike's an incredible person and I'm so glad we didn't lose him.
I'm pretty sure Mike could write a song with one note and a sentence and I'd somehow be hooked. This song coupled with his hardships really pack a punch.
Hello, yob greets you from Colombia, South America, a big fan of you, that music that you are very great for me is transcendental and very astral, I wish you the best and much happiness, your good friend Andres Vasquez
I’m 48 & have been a diehard lover of music for as long as I can remember ....I’ve been fortunate enough to see many legendary bands in their prime, after Ozzfest 2004 it seemed that most of the concerts/shows coming to my area (the Baltimore-DC area), were bands I had zero desire to go see...I’d go to shows at the 9:30 club in DC & just couldn’t take the crowds (I’m certain they oversell certain shows) & I would leave after 3-4 songs by the headliner, fast fwd to about 4-5 years ago a shithole dive bar in Frederick Md. (which is the city I work in) started hosting the Maryland Doomfest & had some killer bands ,I’ve seen The Obsessed,Weedeater & some lesser known Doom bands there,I also went to a Cro-Mags,Pig Destroyer, eyehategod show there...well it has reinvigorated my interest in music & to have a venue so close booking killer underground bands made it much easier, that being said I’m dying to see these guys but for them to come from Oregon to play a dump in Frederick Md doesn’t seem likely...NYC,Philly,Boston,Baltimore,DC & even Richmond maybe but Fredneck Md? Prolly not,but if they do you can bet your grandmas sweet sweet ass I’ll be there a very content old guy chilling a few rows back 🤘🏻YOB is a phenomenal band
Im in park heights in bmore&yup...the shows that come to BALTIMORE are few&far between; im pretty sure that alot of bands that come here like the town. And d.c. is REALLY dry, too. The first town in MD. Was Frederick(came up from atl in 2010)...cool town. Don't miss godspeed you! black emperor in bmore, ots next year at the ottobar. Don't miss this
Yob please come down to New Orleans!!!!!!! We have killer doom/stoner/rock/ cool bands you could lineup with. I’m gunna try to make it to Birmingham for my first show from y’all. Hope to see you, take care! Pumped regardless
Amazing as always. To those who are complaining about not hearing the bass: STOP listening to great music through your dollar store cell phone. To those who say this song is lame and it's just one riff: WRONG on the count of it being just one riff. As far as it being lame, that is one opinion to have but don't profess to being a YOB fan when this song fits perfectly within the YOB aesthetic.
Agreed, i'll never understand people who listen to certain genres of music and then prove their ignorance by the statements and complaints they make. If you claim to be a fan of Yob's music and you don't like this song just stop listening altogether because you obviously don't get it.
Exactly....if only a few riffs in a long ass song bugs you, then you havent been listening to yob enough to complain. find a new band to listen to haha
I know what you mean. I mainly get this with Yobs structures of building up tension and releasing it again and again and with some Funeral Doom bands. The suffocating feeling is so good...
a friend took me to one of their shows, as i didn't knew them at that point. They played this song and it was one of the most intense live experiences that i've had. i felt like standing in the machine room of something massive like an oil tanker or something like that. it was a hell of a blast!

Tell yob they're my fav band
This song should have been called, "Guitar Player's Carpal Tunnel"
i thought this would be easier to play also.
I saw them play this live a few months ago and my stomach pretty much dropped at how intense this damn riff is. I've also done sound for Mike for his solo project and it's just as intense and heart felt as this album. Mike's an incredible person and I'm so glad we didn't lose him.
My favorite doom band, nobody comes close to the intensity of this unique band
Draconian também é bom
That opening riff is fucking next level. Simple, yet just weird enough to make to you stop and say "fuck."
It reminds me of Gojira - Space Time, the part that starts around 3 minutes.
YOB IS LOVE
TRANSCENDENTAL SLUDGE
!YOB IS LIFE!
MY LONGEST YEAH YOB EVER
rats up yer ass a good time
Underrated comment right here lmfao
Lmfao
you are a genius son of a bitch!
Y’all know how to have a good time.
June 8th will be the heaviest day in existence
June 6th was the heaviest day for me, saw Sleep live.
Definetly one of the finest record labels of all time. Yob is such an adventure. Thank You for perfect realisation of this masterpiece.
I'm pretty sure Mike could write a song with one note and a sentence and I'd somehow be hooked. This song coupled with his hardships really pack a punch.
This is probably one of the heaviest riffs I've ever heard.
YOB did it again! Happy to know Mike is back and strong!
Structure of this song is so well-written... I feel blessed this was my first YOB's hearing, such a great band it seems to be.
Hello, yob greets you from Colombia, South America, a big fan of you, that music that you are very great for me is transcendental and very astral, I wish you the best and much happiness, your good friend Andres Vasquez
this is really heavy and awesome.
Vast chorus of song
Brings my heart to release
True lyrics.
So damn glad Mike made it.
Saw Yob in Bristol for the album tour. Amazing performance. So many effects pedals which explains the lush textured sound.
That riff has Morbid Angel all over it. Heavy, sinister as fuck.
What a great surprise. I wondered if we'd see another album. Can't wait to see this amazing band again.
My first time listen to YOB, scrolling through their top songs, this one gave me Fear Factory Obsolete vibes.
Cannot wait to see them in June...been a fan since Catharsis
Chris Hawkins I'll be there the 16 th in Arkansas.
Hell yeah! I'm ready to have my ears blasted with some LOUD YOB DOOOOOOM!
Mike's voice at the beginning reminds me Tom G. Warrior, and love that "Atma"riff vibe!
And the mental tyrant too
hypnotic, dark and beautiful
I love the vocal mix here! Great track I'm sure this album will be killer!
Anybody know of any songs with something similar to that opening riff? I fell in love the second I heard it.
Definitely check out Gojira. They’ve essentially made a their whole career with riffs like this.
All i hear is the rawsound of the one and only YOB, great job guys! Keep them Riffz coming :)
Wow great song! The riff reminds me of Morbid Angel. Can't wait to see them in June with Bell Witch!
this came on from autoplay and before I looked at the screen I though it was The Melvins. It's pretty damn groovy, nice job Yob.
saw this song live in seattle at chop suey was absolutely SICK live
This has grown on me. Looking forward to the new album
Well this just made my day. Yob continues to set the standard.

Listening on good headphones, the bass is pretty loud. People might be mistaking it for guitar, since it's quite overdriven.
Agreed, i'll never understand people who listen to certain genres of music and then prove their ignorance by the statements and complaints they make. If you claim to be a fan of Yob's music and you don't like this song just stop listening altogether because you obviously don't get it.
it seems i am in good company.
i saw them play this song live and it was fuckin sick this recording doesnt do it justice
Exactly....if only a few riffs in a long ass song bugs you, then you havent been listening to yob enough to complain. find a new band to listen to haha
I get a similar feeling to what I got when I listened to The Blossoming Beelzebub by DIR EN GREY the first time. Very raw. I love it.

This song makes me physically uncomfortable, and I kind of like it...
I know what you mean. I mainly get this with Yobs structures of building up tension and releasing it again and again and with some Funeral Doom bands. The suffocating feeling is so good...
Yeh it feels like I’m being crushed , in a nice way !
that's when you know it's good doom

The clean part before the drums come in on The Lie That is Sin gives me that same exact feeling
