A second BBC tribute to the sadly departed Paul Hunter. This one looks briefly at his life and career, including interviews with Paul and words from those around him.
That the man won a match at a ranking event during his final season, when he was undergoing chemotherapy, in serious pain and chronically fatigued, is a testament to his resilience and courage.
Aye, it certainly lost a legend. Still watch it though & sure Paul Hunter would be willing you on. The Gent' that he was.. Understand your respect though.
1 year already.. i still find it hard to believe.. i can just see you at the table smiling and laughing.. i still remember waking up and seeing about you on the tv...i just cried, you were my idol and i will NEVER forget you! you were and still are my inspiration and a true ledgend. you are always in my thoughts. not a day goes by without me thinking of you. Rest in peace paul, you deserve it, a true champion, sorely missed, i love you xxx rest in peace
Such a sad loss! Hoping that his dear wife took strength in the fact that everyone loved him and hope his daughter watches this knowing what people thought RIP Paul Hunter x
What a character and the kind of guy you just know would be a great friend to have. Thanks for the memories, Paul. Hope your child grows up to be healthy, successful and has a long fulfiling life.
Those too young to remember Paul may think people overstate his ability because of his tragic death but, believe me, some of the snooker he played during his Masters wins was as good as I've ever seen. He wasn't as good as Ronnie and John Higgins but he was on the level just below that, which wasn't a bad place to be!
Exactly You don't win three Masters titles without being special. Not at the level of Hendry or Ronnie, but I loved watching him. Seemed like a lovely bloke too.
He was fantastic, just rewatched the last frame of the 2004 masters final, pulled out some great shots. Great player and by all accounts a lovely bloke as well, he is certainly missed.
I was 15 when he was going through that, which is probably why I had never heard of him, but to say I'm inspired by him is an understatement. I've not been having the best year so far, but now my problems seem trivial and I think its pretty amazing that so many years later this guys great attitude and personality is helping others to keep their chin up. So much respect.
World have been a multiple world champion for sure👌 So very sadly missed and to be taken at such an incredibly young age is truly heartbreaking💔 God bless you Paul👼
Rest In Peace Paul Hunter. You were the reason i watched snooker and got into the game so much. My heart goes out to lindsey and your daughter. They say that the greatest men never live to see their dreams fulfilled. In this case Paul Hunter dreamed of one day being world champion and would have no doubt been a great champion at that. So sorry he didnt get to fulfill his dream. Rest In Peace Paul
people lets respect this talent and lovely man and dont discuss/argue things about him! this page is to let you see how great he was as an sportsman and as an person, so please dont curse or say stupid things about paul hunter because trueluy no one can deny this man has achieve much but it could be much more if he was still alive. Paul Hunter R.I.P.
On nie umarł...Żyje w naszych wspomnieniach. Pozostawił cząstkę siebie nie tylko na archiwalnych nagraniach z turniejów, ale przede wszystkim w Evie Rose. Dzieci sprawiają że stajemy się nieśmieertelnymi już za życia. RIP paul ;(
i was, and still am, one of Paul Hunters biggest fans, im still not over the fact he's passed away. a day doesnt go by when i dont think about you. Rest In Peace Paul. I also have a tribute video for Paul, please take some time to watch it, it'd mean a lot to me.
Don't be sad. He's now downing balls and playing with the angels themselves. He might not have won the world championships, but that doesn't matter now, he's got his eye on the universal championships Every time you hear a clash of thunder echo, think of it as Paul in heaven breaking up the balls of yet another frame of the game he loved so much. He had a kid before he passed over, so his spirit still reigns on the earth. Give it 20 years and Paul will be gracing our TV screens once again.
I just cannot watch this, it is too sad. I started to watch and play snooker same time when Paul started his career, definitely one of my favorites. He was such a delicate player, never hesitated on his shots, played every frame with his heart. It will soon be his death anniversary, and birthday after that. Every year around this time, I think of him and hope that he wouldn't be taken away from us. But then I figured, maybe God needs someone to play snooker with, and he loves Paul the most.
paul was my favourite sportsman... in fact, he was the onlyone i liked from this field. i never got to like sports before i saw him play... and now he's gone, and i'll never forget my one and only Paul Hunter...
too many times the word legend gets used now, but here was a true legend. i was lucky enough to meet paul on 2 occasions and he had a class about him on and off the table. here is one of lifes true fighters and he will forever be missed in snooker and by people he influanced. i am one of the people who as a player was influanced by him and i thank him for that. a true legend!
hey, this is my favourite video about paul... the first snooker match i saw was paul hunter against ronnie o' sullivan. from this day on he was my favourite player. i think neil robertson has got some of his capabilities and properties. but no one will ever be able to replace paul hunter. he just was the greatest snookerplayer and will live in our hearts forever. we'll never forget you, paul! R.I.P.
Gosh...that's maybe one of the most beautiful comments I've ever read here! And I hope you're right, cause everybody knows how hard it is for women to get a safe place in the main tour...
He came 50 maybe even 100 years to soon, but I know he will return when the world of snooker will be a real challenge for him. Respect 4ever Golden Boy, you'll allways be with us. Alex- from Romania.
Frightening that a healthy young man can be taken so quickly. What his girlfriend said in the newspapers was heartbreaking and made me very upset and I didn't even know the guy.
this vid makes me cry every tym i watch.... i loved paul he was the best player on the circuit and he would definatly b world champion by now if he haddn't sadly pasted on...
His death has caught me by surprise.. I just knew about it some days ago while watching a game on Eurosport. Never thought he could leave so damn early.. Paul was my favourite player, just like Ronnie is. Like the lady said.. snooker has lost its golden boy, a genuine, funny and talented man.. He may RIP.
I will never overcome the shock that his death was to me. This disease isn't good on anyone, but to see it happening so fast and taking the life of someone so joyous, talented and who clearly had so much to live for hurts and scares me. I will always remember him fondly, and my profound wishes go out to his wife and baby girl; may they manage to live in happiness after this sad tragedy.
Awe, gutted a goner :-(Time flies eh!).. Proper confident player & such a Gent', but 28 though! Seems longer tbh!! That 'form of Cancer' he had's one of them subtle ones which can manifest all over + come back again & again so his Mrs must've been so worried bless her.. *RIP*
That the man won a match at a ranking event during his final season, when he was undergoing chemotherapy, in serious pain and chronically fatigued, is a testament to his resilience and courage.
I sadly stopped following snooker after he passed away. Being a fellow Leeds lad, he was the player I always wanted to win. RIP Paul!
Fantastic player! Breaks my heart to watch this. Only 28 and gone, im 43, been much less of a man and am still alive. I am grateful
Same here, he grew up playing in the same social club i played in in moortown. Snooker was never the same when he passed, RIP paul
I lost interest in snooker aswell
@@littlezit2 = Can relate to that tbf. Admire your honesty... ("Life" eh)
Aye, it certainly lost a legend. Still watch it though & sure Paul Hunter would be willing you on. The Gent' that he was.. Understand your respect though.
This guy would have been one of the great snooker players , such a great character and personality , truly missed , RIP CHAMP 🙏❤️👍

Too bad we never got to see if he would reach their level. He had the skill and passion to do so. One of my all-time favourite players.
He was fantastic, just rewatched the last frame of the 2004 masters final, pulled out some great shots. Great player and by all accounts a lovely bloke as well, he is certainly missed.

He treated success and failure in the same way - the sign of a true gentleman and sportsman. He was gorgeous and special.
