I worked for Trachte Building Systems for a summer during college in 1977while studying architecture. That is where I learned about self-storage. Absolute top-notch people.
This is an awesome video! Not many people think about the errors until after it is to late. I live in Utah and just bought 25 acres of mostly flat land. and I like the idea of pouring your slabs at a 1% slope. That will make snowplowing much easier. Best Idea ever.
It is a there to hold storm water runoff from the property. If you grade the property to drain water effectively, you don't want it running off onto your neighbors property or the street if the street cannot effectively drain the excess runoff. Storm water management is huge in commercial and residential development. Every subdivision in the country has a storm water management plan and probably a retention pond, just like every Wal-Mart or other commercial delopment. A storm water analysis and plan is required for the approval of most development projects.

Thanks Cameron. We love it too. Those of us that work here and own storage build on 1% slope on our own personal projects.
Very interested in getting into the industrybut just now barely scratching the surface. Thank you for taking the time to make this video!!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! You look like a king of self storage!
Great video. Thank you!
Great video, thanks for putting this together
Thank you Jamie. Your videos are very helpful! My husband and I will be in touch. We have our land and are currently waiting for a zoning change!
Dont forget security cams go hand and hand with the ballords at the end of buildings
Great video!

All kidding aside, this was a great video

curious, why the need for retention pond on a self-storage facility that doesn't produce anything?
