  • This is my collection of beginner-intermediate hooping tricks. It includes just about everything I've learned during my five months of hooping. When I first started hooping I would often see tricks in other videos that I wanted to learn but didn't know the name of, so it was more difficult to find the corresponding tutorials. My hope is that this helps someone become more familiar with the hoop dance trick names and variations.
    Thank you for watching this video. Please comment below, I love hearing from you! :)

    When I discovered hoop dance I instantly fell in love with it. As a new mom at the time I was in search of a fun and different form of exercise that I could do from the convenience of my home and I initially started hooping for the health and fitness aspects of it.
    However hoop dance became so much more to me than that. It became my own creative form of self-expression and stress relief. It deepened my mind body connection and became my moving meditation. It boosted my confidence and helped me to create a healthy active lifestyle.
    It ultimately gave me a total self-transformation and taught me the art of practice, patience and perseverance. And as I developed a strong passion for the hoop I also felt called and inspired to share it and encourage others to discover the immense benefits of hoop dance. So I got connected in the hooping community and attended workshops. I now teach hoop dance courses at a local dance institute and online at my site autumnflow.com.
    Hooping has brought me so many incredible opportunities and I'm still always learning from my sacred circle. I am driven by my creativity and compassion for people and combining the two to bring the joy of hoop dance into the lives of others gives me so much happiness.

    I bought a hoop recently and thought it would help me get into a fun exercise!
    I've started off with learning the isolation! I'm still pretty wobbly but I'm feeling the rhythm of it the more I practice 💫

    Hey Michele, so the trick I was asking about is the "on body pass around" at 30Sec :-) Thank Youuuuuuuuuuuu xoxo

    • @michelemccoy
      @michelemccoy  9 років тому +1

      Ooh! Ok that's what you meant :). I was never able to find a tutorial on it and eventually just figured it out myself...It's very similar to a vortex except instead of passing the hoop from one hand to the other while lifting the hoop up and down you just keep the hoop in the same place right below your waist at arms length. Pass the hoop from one hand to the other in front of your body then from that hand back to the other behind your body, like you would in a vortex. It's hard to do slowly because you need momentum to keep the hoop up and it helps if you spin with the hoop. I hope that helps some! Let me know if it's still not working for you! It's a fun trick :).

    How long did it take to learn to chest hoop. I'm in a beginners rut. Been hooping for a month and a half and stuck on what I should learn next. Shoulder hooping seems so difficult to me

    • @michelemccoy
      @michelemccoy  8 років тому +10

      Shoulder hooping was definitely very difficult for me to master! It took me about a month if not longer of at least an hour of practice everyday to finally get down shoulder hooping. Keep at it tho and watch lots of tutorials and you'll get it!

      Wow. Thank you so much for getting back to me. I don't think I've ever gotten a reply to a comment on UA-cam lol. You truly are a hoopspiration to me :) you are very talented. And I am a mom of two. And truly feel it is a great stress reliever and a happy place :). Love your videos

      I'm in a really similar place to you, Amanda! WE GOT THIS! Sometimes I feel so impatient but I know it'll eventually click for me and the reward will be worth it. Also my friend recommended Camel pose in yoga to stretch my shoulders and open them, hope that helps you too!

    What kind of hoop are you using? I am a beginner and am trying to learn more off body tricks but my hoops feels way too heavy for any of that. Any suggestions?

    • @nexttopmodel254
      @nexttopmodel254 6 років тому

      Andrea Giuria buy a smaller dance polypro hoop. I suggest 34“ for beginners. I have a 36" and it's a tad too big for my flow. Hope this helps. 😉

    • @michelemccoy
      @michelemccoy  4 роки тому

      That is a 2 handed barrel roll! It's like an isolation but you turn your whole body. Happy Hooping!

      No idea how to keep it flat

    • @michelemccoy
      @michelemccoy  3 роки тому

      Getting it flat comes with practice! Try jumping in the air as you lift the hoop to give it more momentum to flatten out.

    Michele what size hoop do you recommend to start learning tricks?

    • @michelemccoy
      @michelemccoy  3 роки тому

      Measure from the ground to your bellybutton, and whatever that length is, is the size you'll want to start with! Err on the side of bigger if you have doubts. Watch this video for more: ua-cam.com/video/VgGVw0J_XA4/v-deo.html
      You can find a hoop that will fit you on my website: www.autumnflow.com

    What size hoop do you use? is it PC tubing?

    • @michelemccoy
      @michelemccoy  8 років тому +3

      In this video I'm using a beginner hoop that I made with irrigation tubing. But now that I'm more advanced I use polypro hoops. If you're looking for a hoop I'd highly recommend checking out Shelled Hoops. They make beautiful beginner and advanced hoops. And you can use my discount code "michelespins" for 10% off your order :)
