After I saw Saathiya - I hunted down the DVD of this movie from my Tamil friends to see this masterpiece. It's incredible that I don't even remember looking at the subtitles much, despite very little knowledge of the language. There was something sublime about the romance. Never gets old
Our school and college days without mobile, without technology on hands , still made made 1980's and 1990's kids feel those days enjoy the charm and feel each and every situation in depth. Those days are priceless and no other generation can get the flavour of 1980s/1990s.
Being a North Indian I've seen this movie 10 times with subtitles...and later some of its dialogues got memorized...these movies r made once in lifetime ...and it requires a maestro like Mani Ratnam to make such classics !!
Ah ! Each second is study material. Excellently choreographed and shot ! Angles, frames, sync with train movements, effortless flow in the indoor scenes, performance of actors, precise and apt dialogues, bgm.. everything just fell in place !
This movie came when I joined college. I am watching after 20 years. I feel like I am back in my teen age. Amazing movie and music. Mid age men of my age group only can relate this.
I don't know about ur native language but If possible watch other Maniratnam movies like Pallavi anupallavi(kannada),Geetanjali(telugu),dil se(hindi)& ok kanmani(tamil) . U may like it😇
The first film ever I watched in theatre, when i studied in 8th standard.. the best proposal scene from indian cinema... BGM was awesome.... chance ah illa....!
Don’t no if it’s fortunate, every movie of Mani sir, will have a cute child artist either boy or girl between the age 3-10, that elevates the movie ! I wonder, I was one among them during my childhood 🤩🤩🤩 loving a Mani Ratnam Fan ❤️
How beautifully these scenes are sequenced.. Amazing!! The Pachai Niramae BGM slowly builds on us from 4:53 in every search of Shalini by Madavan and vice versa. After the last train scene at the end of this video, they will meet at college with this dialogue - "Karthik nee class la last aa... and Madhavan on the beach saying - ava enna pathutaa".. and eventually the bgm leads us into the wonderful song!.. Ahh.. Pure Magic!
Has anyone notice that shalini has orange book in front @ 4:15 later at 4:25 she has pink book in front and orange beneath that in her hand. Proof that the scene was shot twice or more.
4:33 - This person gave it away that the train scene was taken when the train was approaching/leaving the station. On a closer look you could see the people standing on the other side of the station. It could have been extremely difficult to take this shot from another train moving at a high speed.Still the best scene ever:D
Better than our bollywood sathiya movie.....what legend madhavan and shalini just handsome hunk and beautiful lady.....with chennai meter guage local trains
Every one is talking about maddy and salini..but the Co actress, she has been doing the same kind of roles whole her life,,stil in each movie she did it perfectly
