- It's Chinese New Year, the Year of the Dragon, so I went to the 28th Traditional Beijing New Year Goods Fair, along with thousands of other Beijing locals, in search of a Spring Festival bargain.
Almost every kind of food imaginable is available to buy! Seafood delicacies from southern China, beef and lamb from Inner Mongolia, medicinal products from Yunnan, Guizhou, and Sichuan. SO. MUCH. FOOD!

Stu, you can almost skip dinner after sampling at so many stalls. Seriously you should buy some items on the spot because it is hard to go back and find the locations again. Take a trolley cart with you is a must if you are not just filming the market.

I like this kind of market as well! Though it could be a bit higher than buying online, it also provides the value of viewing and admiring. It's definitely another form of museum! This is the living folk museum! And best of the best, no charge for entrance tickets lol😂❤
Yeah, I forgot to mention it's free to enter. They also had some intangible cultural heritage items. I just didn't get round to filming them.
The food got me wide awake! I may need to bring a few servants if I go there, and most importantly, with an empty stomach🎉

That food looks fascinating! I'm so curious to know what the mackerel dumplings, the pure vinegar, and donkey sausages taste like~ The fruit from Xizang and Xinjiang look amazing as usual!
Well, the first lot of vinegar tasted remarkably like... Vinegar. Hence the spluttering cough. The dumplings were nice, very subtle mackerel taste. If I'm being honest, I was hoping for a stronger flavour. Donkey meat is bae!
I really like the 年货大集 at 农展馆🥰They have a wide range of foods

Chinese new year is a crazy happy mad time, I love it, people mountain people sea, that’s why I’m staying at home! I also applied for my 5 star Chinese permanent resident card, I truly hope to have a positive response in 6 months! How have you found using your new 5 star card?
Good. A few wrinkles that will get sorted out over the next year, things like software systems etc. But all the big things work perfectly. Plus you can actually use it for social insurance.
You should invite your parents celebrate Chinese NY with you while they were in HK!

The Asian grocers and shops in Melbourne Australia are PACKED with everyone buying decorations and delicious ingredients to prepare their family new year dinner. Very lively and chaotic 😄

That looked fun & tasty! Don't know if in the San Francisco bay area has a new year fair like yours. There will be a street fair on February 24th in SF Chinatown. Hoping to find some different foods to buy! It won't have half as many stalls as you enjoyed!
