Smith joins Rachel Nichols, Ramona Shelburne, Brian Windhorst and Ramona Shelburne to react to the Shelburne's report that New York Knicks owner James Dolan did not want to offer Kevin Durant a max deal over injury concerns. Durant will sign with the crosstown Brooklyn Nets to play alongside Kyrie Irving and DeAndre Jordan. The Knicks are signing Julius Randle, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

@The Hawk The Knicks wanted a healthy KD. Not one that is coming off a serious injury. That is a huge difference. There is a very good chance that he will not be the same player once he is back to being active as most players aren't. He is also not expected to make a full recovery until late 2020 at the very earliest. Would not be surprised if we don't see him suited up & ready to go until some point in 2021. The risk was way too high & no one can really blame the Knicks for not offering the max.
I mean they had nothing better to do with their money. They needed a player like KD even if they had to wait 1 year. Dolan better sell the knicks already because all he’s being doing is leading them to failure
