Thanks! It feels like too much sometimes, it's great to hear that it can be simpler, i think that the right mindset is key now that you mentioned it ❤ most of the time we are just so exhausted that we want to go to bed asap and that's not cool sadly, im gonna try to end before so we can have a few minutes to relax before we start ❤ thank you ❤

One time at candlelighting it was just crazy insane in our house! So we all lit candles, said the blessings and I told Hashem, "You know my prayers, gotta go!" A good friend told me that in her home it was pretty quiet, so at candlelighting, she was praying for ME! Just shows how CONNECTED we all are! I didn't have a moment to think or pray and feel spiritual, but a friend did in her home with her family. Your video reminded me of that story, talking about the proper mindset. So when you are spiritually connected it travels around to others who are frazzled like me (lol). Looking forward to episode 2, this is beautiful work and you are a beautiful soul!

I am in my Judaism conversion course. It’s a great introduction but does require much further reading/research. I’m glad I found your site. I like your tips because I want to make it special without going overboard with rules. I want to be able to feel it instead of just performing. Look forward to more videos. Thank you

What a great video! We definitely blessed pita bread and hot dog buns as a kid. And we also always have candles in our freezer and maneschewitz and grape juice in our fridge! Ha! Are you sure we’re not related, Marion!?
My children are probably my best reminder of Shabbat. They love candlelight and juice and a beautiful table (if I can swing it!), and dinner can truly be anything.
And if your kids are in Jewish school, often there’s an option to pay for Friday challah to be sent home with your child (its a school fundraiser and here in LA, the challahs are truly delicious!). For me when I was a mom with a newborn, that was a wonderful no brainer that we looked forward to every week. I also love the small frozen challahs that you pull out and let rise, then bake. I have fond memories of them as a child and my mother always let me choose the seeds, do the egg wash, and sprinkle them on. If you’re worried about doing your own challah, those frozen Kineret ones are pretty foolproof!
Can’t wait to see the rest of your series! Great video!

Seeing the shabbat candles in your freezer immediately transported me back to my childhood- it's where my mom always kept them! When we are pressed for time, or if my husband gets home late and the kids need to go to bed, we try to at least light candles all together. Shabbat Shalom!

Marion, I'm so glad you mentioned buying store bought challah. Challah was definitely the most stressful part of trying to do shabbat for me because cooking stresses me out lol. I never thought of buying it pre-made but after watching your video yesterday I went to Ralph's to see if they had it in their bakery section and they did, thank goodness! Now I can have a stress free shabbats from now on:) Thank you so much for this video and I can't wait for the rest of the episodes!

Love this! Shabbat is so special. In my household my wife and daughters lite up the candles before the blessings and dinner. It’s kind of difficult to keep up with so many things especially when we both work and clock is ticking. To me it’s more important the moment and try to keep the commandment. It’s all focused on the Creator and Family.

So many great tips! I keep a bag of tortillas in my freezer, because I can take two out for motzi, and if I forget to do it in advance, they thaw quickly. And they look just a bit better than a slice of sandwich bread 😄
(Of course, nothing is better than fresh challah!) I also have a "lace" white tablecloth that's machine washable and doesn't show stains, that looks the part. Shabbat shalom!

I'm a revert Muslim and I am curious to know more about Jewish faith and rituals, I feel we're all brothers and sisters in a way as we have so much in common and would love to celebrate that. Not sure if you already have some videos or if that aligns with your plans with this channel but I'd love to watch something where you explain a bit about basics like what is shabbat or some other things. May be interesting for non-Jewish viewers? 😃 regardless I'll be watching your videos. Stay blessed.
