I have three plumeria trees in pots! My elderly neighbor was no longer able to bring the man over winter, so I ended up with them and they are doing wonderful! Two white and one pink, all three are 35 years old
Thanks! I’m a plumeria nut (and real estate broker) so I love this video and your others . Please keep me posted on the plumeria rescue; the mystery ones and how they are all doing.
Amen to that…”Texas full sun” is a whole other beast not explained on your big box plant store tags. I found out the hard way. But I’m in Central Texas and yes, we do get those brutal 100+ sunny days that seem to go on forever, but my in-ground plumies do fine. Probably because of our irrigation system. They’ve adapted. I take them out of the ground in late fall, clean off and keep in the garage for a long winter’s nap. I always pit up the smaller ones though in case I lose some bare root plants.
I propagate plumerias year around. I would recommend that the root end of your cuttings be sliced at an angle of about 45 degrees before you let them callous over. This helps to avoid the problems of water pooling next to the bottom of the cutting when you ultimately plant them. Water pooling at the base of the cutting can lead to rot occurring. This can endanger the survival of the cutting.
I have my first Plumeria. I brought it inside about a week ago (November/East Texas) and it’s dropped all its leaves. I have it in a southeast window. I want to cut it back so shoots will branch out, but do I need to wait till spring to do that, since it’s evidently gone dormant?
If I have a plumeria in the pot, in the flowerbed I take a bamboo cane and drive it down into the pot, through a drain hole of the pot and drive it into the ground. Winds, no problemo!
Thank you for the video! I have a plumeria plant that is over 7 feet and I can't enjoy the flower(because of the height), and it keeps tipping over the because it is top heavy. I was looking for ways to cut and multiply it and came across your video. Is there a certain time of the year to cut it? Can I cut it now(with full leaves on)? Or Should I wait until next Spring? (I usually keep it in the garage for Texas Winter).
Just make sure when you cut your still in the growing season. You can do it now if it hasn’t gone dormant yet. I’ll be doing some videos on pruning soon.
How deep will you plant the new cuttings after they have scabbed over? I have a really large plant i need to cut back, but didn’t know how to plant them. Thanks for all the information
We had a pretty big tree fall and my wife does want to loose this one. Like the last one that fell. Even though we do still have all the clippings from it , just leaning against the house, still alive. My question is, I need to know where I need to clip it back to look the best when it comes back. It's just way to big to lift back up as it is.anyone got suggestions
I would prune the branches off where the skin is brown. Not green. Try to avoid cutting new green growth. Leave 6 to 8 inches from the cut so there is room for die back. And I know some people will cover the wound with that black branch sealer. I’ve also seen them use glue or caulk. I just make sure it’s in a dry place.
I have a big cutting that i want to plant 10 inches deep to make it more stable in the pot. I heard you shouldn't plant too deep or else it can rot. Have you noticed any issues with planting cuttings deep? Or as far as you can tell, no issues with burying large cuttings 10 inches or so ubder dirt?
Whats hoa have to do with it? And im in Montgomery. TX. LIL NORTHS OF UZ, umh i want to plant n keep n ground. Cant b moving n providing a place for WINTER shelter (size 15 gallon pot or more):)
I actually just saved a bunch of giant plumeria trees off of Facebook market. I'm not sure what color they will be, but I can sell you some cuttings if you would like.
You can buy them online. Just be sure to read seller reviews. I have three plumeria. One given to me as a gift from my employer and two from my niece. All three came directly from Hawaii! They are beautiful!! I made cuttings and gave two of them to my sister and three to a friend. 🪴🌸
I can’t even comprehend what you are saying in this comment. I think you are referring to the toxicity of the plumeria. That’s correct. They are harmful if ingested by humans or animals.
The husband built a greenhouse around them every year...now THAT'S love ❤

Thank you! I’ll be doing an update after the hurricane!
All I can say is WOW!!! Such a find. I can't wait until the waking up of them and for them to be blooming.
More to come!

I have 10 plants in various sizes in pots in Tennessee. I bring them into the house for the winter.
Have you had any growth senses being transplanted?
Growth Senses?
Please do an update on the plumeria rescue. I also got some large cuttings and patiently waiting for signs that they are rooting. Located in SW Az.
Awesome!
Can you make an updated video of what they look like now?
Thank you for the video!

It really depends. I try to get at least 6 inches in the ground.
Ohhh someone gave me a couple plumeria cuttings and they said don't plant it deep at all which is why they keep falling over.

HOA Hell...😂😂😂. I hear ya!!!!!
A small sauce pan makes a good soil scoop.
Wondering why you didn't seal off the ends after you cut them, to prevent fungus? I use cinnamon but a friend uses wood glue

If you leave them outside in the winter, they won’t survive.
Can I buy a few cuttings? I always wanted to try to grow these.
I’m keeping all the ones I have

Surprised you didn’t put any perlite or root hormone. Never seen that plant food additive in the soil with the roots
Consider 50% perlite if it’s in a container
Nice! you have any extra to give away?
just an fyi the link to your youtube channel from your beacons page is not working
I found you though!
Where can we get cuttings?
It’s hard! 😂 but some nurseries sell them
You can buy them online. Just be sure to read seller reviews.
