A very special Fosse dance. She does it brilliantly. This is what STYLE is. Something that is lost today. Dancers are so busy doing "contemporary" CRAP they have no idea, knowledge, training or STYLE!
Ann is amazing! Truly talented, really beautiful, built like a goddess. Not envious a bit! lol I always love her dancing and was thrilled to see this video and more of her!!!! Please give her a fan hug for me the next time you see her! :)
Every step, move, flick of the wrist is Fosse. Ann is extremely talented. Bob just took her to a new soaring level. It says a lot about the women he loved. Gwen and Ann, after they broke up with him, still helped him in his work. And when he died the two of them took his ashes to spread where he wanted to rest.
Her moves could be perfectly symmetrical. She could do dance moves with one side of her body and do the same thing equally with the other side. It was amazing. She was one of the greatest Broadway dancers ever.
Great moves, not complicated to the eye but there's underlying stretching and balance needed to make it look as graceful. as they do. You can't not be limber when doing this imo.
Can anybody viewing this verify that this was the original "Me And My Baby" trio from Chicago? I am suspicious that this choreography wasn't Bob Fosse's, but was Ann's own rendition - as performed for The CBS Festival of Lively Arts for Young People "Invitation to the Dance". It's a nice amalgam of Fosse steps, danced by one of his muse, but I don't think this TV special was his work.
I wonder why they put her with such tall guys? I think shorter would have been better to show her off. She is Gwen Verdon personified, if that's possible, but with formidable ballet technique. I never liked how high-cut her leotards were, though. Too sexual for me.
I disagree. Reinking: fabulous dancer, sparkling performer, special body/features. But Verdon, was brilliant performer/actress/dancer, with that special something even beyond Reinking. She projected character and story with her attitude, precise dance language, and being there charisma and awareness. Compare her Charity to good actress, so-so dancer, McClain's.
I agree. Ann Reinking is really something but to me Gwen was sublime and she brought humanity and vulnerability to Fosse’s choreography. Such a rare star. Ann, (again this is my opinion) embodies later Fosse. Less about the individual and more abstracted. I think she certainly had star quality but his choreography always carried more weight than her personality. She’s a beautiful, stylish technician with added warmth and personality. But Gwen’s unique magnetism couldn’t be dominated by the choreography. Much more a marriage of equals.
She lit up Broadway & Film. To say she was a dancer is understatement. Her body remarkably fluid, especially for a tall graceful woman. Just Amazing. Gone too Soon. RIP Ann Reinking.
She will always be a legend..a giant of Broadway, dance and choreography. I fell in love with her beaming positive energy and genuine smile..and those legs! The best.
It takes years of work to achieve this level of precision. I don't think the celebs/dancers now have the patience to commit to this level of dedication and hard work. They want it all now!
I love watcjing her dance, but this too would have been considered 'contemporary crap' at one point. Appreciation and love of modern dance doesnt take away appreciation and love of older dances
This WAS as it appeared in the original show (referenced by the 1978 national tour video that exists out there). The slow part of the beginning when she sings is Roxie sitting in a wheel chair, using a hidden bowler hat (on her belly) as the baby under her hospital gown, to which she played it. She also had the bowler hat baby “kick” a couple of times ... she then looked around after the slow part and said “I fooled the bastards,” (she put the hat on her head, stood up in the costume that we see in this video, and the announcer/MC said: “And now Miss Roxie Hart struts and gloats.” The marching drums then kicked in! There were also all of the monologues strewn throughout it... Billy, Mama, Velma, and Amos in various spotted locales ... that helped break to up the length of the dance a bit, but the constant movement of the trio still happened simultaneously, this is ALL Fosse choreography! That which appears in the current revival/concert, all in black, version is Reinking’s choreography.
one of the greatest dancers of my generation. her movement is only matched by her sense of style and elegance. what a teacher for young dancers about developing your own unique style no matter what "template" a choreographer gives you.
If you love dance, All that Jazz is likely out there somewhere. She does a dance with a young girl, the movie daughter of the Fosse choreographer stand-in Roy Schieder. From the first move, you see a totally trained pro actually trying NOT to totally outshine the youngster she's dancing beside, When the difficult looks effortless, you see a craftsman at work.
I was so glad she did Annie. It introduced her to so many young girls, and I think most likely inspired them to seek out their hopes of becoming a dancer.
love her persona., i didnt know who she was until i first saw her act and sing and dance in the Annie movie. Little did i know she studied under Fosse 💙
Ann's moves are so precise and nuanced, her dance partners look sloppy and careless in comparison. She is a wonder of nature with that body and expressive physicality.
Ann's danced Fosse directly from Fosse for many, many years. Shes way ahead on the precision. I think they did a fabulous job! They all made it look effortless ;)
Ann Reinking was the protégé and sometime girlfriend of the choreographer, Bob Fosse. She starred in the Roy Scheider movie, "All That Jazz", a biography of sorts of Fosse and, essentially, played herself.
After I saw Donna McKenzie in the original production of ACL, I got to see Ms Reinking as Cassie. She was glorious, making the role her own. Different styles than Ms McKenzie, who was wonderful in her own right. I am one lucky retired actor.
She still makes me cry. Ann Reinking - for the ages!! A true icon!!
Grateful God for such Beauty…🙏🏻
Grateful Amazing Ann🙏🏻
LoveYouAlways🙏🏻
Just found out this Broadway legend just passed . Love Love Love her.... Rest with the angels Ann xoxo
She dances in heaven. I am sure.
What a dancer. Perfect form, balance and control. And what a body.
Sutton Foster, who I adore, wants to be Ann so badly.
Guess it pays to train with Fosse! Amazing talent.
What a great dancer and what legs 🦵🦵. RIP Ann , you’re dancing now with all the angels🙏🙏
This might be hard to belive, but Ann Reinking is my aunt. In a few weeks I get to see her for the reunion.
Tell her we remember her dancing.
Bad Kitty I will. :3
Tell her she was fabulous.
Ann is amazing! Truly talented, really beautiful, built like a goddess. Not envious a bit! lol I always love her dancing and was thrilled to see this video and more of her!!!! Please give her a fan hug for me the next time you see her! :)
CupcakeKat LPS IS fabulous.
Here to celebrate the great Ann Reinking. #RIP

This is absolute control. Fosse style at it zenith!
Love her she was so stunning so precious so professional so beautiful her voice was so angelic she was one of a kind such an inspiration 2 me rip
RIP the fabulousouso Anne Reinking
Her moves could be perfectly symmetrical. She could do dance moves with one side of her body and do the same thing equally with the other side. It was amazing. She was one of the greatest Broadway dancers ever.
I had never thought of that -- symmetry. Yes, because our dominate limbs are stronger, which would throw the moves out of sync.
Ballet training makes you work both sides, though most have a dominant side.
Rest In Peace you Divine Dancer. 💖💝💖
RIP Ann🙏🏻A great loss 💐
What talent. I miss her. Gone too soon. ❤
She looks like she really had alot of fun when she was dancing.
So effortless, so stylish, every movement was it's own dance 👌💃🎩
Just amazing, no one like Ann!!!!
I loved her in the musical Annie. She does alot of cheography in all the movies shes in.
Great moves, not complicated to the eye but there's underlying stretching and balance needed to make it look as graceful. as they do. You can't not be limber when doing this imo.
The most perfect dancer EVER ! ! Of course THE GOD of ALL -- FOSSE ! ! ! Sorry to hear of Her passing ! 😢
Love ya Ann and I think about ya every day 👍
Such control and technique is truly missing in a lot of today's dancing. Too much gyrating and flinging about.
WOW!
Rest In Peace.
The intricacies of this movement is sick!🙀
I finally know who Sutton Foster resembles: Anne Reinking, in talent and in beauty. Both of these women are mesmerizing in their every performance.
Yes ! Very true ! I agree !
I know this is in the style of Fosse, but is this actually Fosse choreographed? Does anyone know? Love Ann Reinking!
PREACH

i like your dress
R.I.P ✨AR✨
Wow!
Fosse all the way
What year is this ??? RIP Ann Reinking 🎩👋🏼👋🏼⚘
Don't remember...long ago
Ann Reinking had some classical training too. I think that is missing from today's contemporary dancers on Broadway.
I wonder why they put her with such tall guys? I think shorter would have been better to show her off. She is Gwen Verdon personified, if that's possible, but with formidable ballet technique. I never liked how high-cut her leotards were, though. Too sexual for me.

Would somebody be able to tell me the name of the song and/or composer/artist?
Me and My baby from "Chicago", John Kander
Hahaha poo poo
Hate those high-cut 80s leotards though!
Eh...she could’ve tried a little harder.
Those arm movements, those legs! We all have lost a great dance talent. RIP
She lit up Broadway & Film. To say she was a dancer is understatement. Her body remarkably fluid, especially for a tall graceful woman. Just Amazing. Gone too Soon. RIP Ann Reinking.
Sooo sad tonight. RIP Ann. One of the greatest ever!!
*when you scroll through the comments ready to cringe and find most people actually GET IT*
An extraordinary, beautiful talent - the heavens will be dancing!
i loved her in all that jazz
She will always be a legend..a giant of Broadway, dance and choreography. I fell in love with her beaming positive energy and genuine smile..and those legs! The best.
Consummate Fosse dancer. Her and the amazing Gwen Verdon.
Rip Ann. Thank you for gracing the Broadway stage and the world with your talent 💔
She makes it look so easy. Like she hardly breaking a sweat.
Combo of Fosse and Verdon executed in perfection
It takes years of work to achieve this level of precision. I don't think the celebs/dancers now have the patience to commit to this level of dedication and hard work. They want it all now!
Superb, just spot on. Her lanky physique and boundless energy are unmatched.
I love watcjing her dance, but this too would have been considered 'contemporary crap' at one point. Appreciation and love of modern dance doesnt take away appreciation and love of older dances
She is absolutely fantastic and gorgeous.. R. I. P. Dear.

You know your stuff Jeff!
Wow. So Gwen Verdon did this entire dance with the Amos, Billy, Mama, and Velma bits while singing the whole song? That's incredible.
Hieu Scott Le Yes, and she was 47 years old at the time!
+markie polo Markie, are you one of the two guys in this?
i wish
Greatest Fosse dancer ever.
Well, she and Gwen.
Those kicks are insane.
Ann Reinking--otherwise knows as Legs Larue!
one of the greatest dancers of my generation. her movement is only matched by her sense of style and elegance. what a teacher for young dancers about developing your own unique style no matter what "template" a choreographer gives you.
+steven karash well said. I can't agree more .. your dancers should be learning from great performers like Ann.
Legend..gorgeous.talented..rest angel

freeinallthings “Everything Old is New Again.” Great number!
I love her other number too - ”there’ll be some changes made,” I think?
I love how she can go from Fosse to Annie. She was so beautiful in that.
I was so glad she did Annie. It introduced her to so many young girls, and I think most likely inspired them to seek out their hopes of becoming a dancer.
Loved her dancing. She seemed like a kind person. She will be missed.
One of the greatest! Thanks for posting this. Rest In Power dear Ann.
Strength and grace!
Rest in Peace, Ann.
I miss dancing like this. . .I just wish that these styles were still alive and not . . .the past. . . Time to bring it back.
i'm very ashamed to admit this but I knew she was a great actress but never knew what a fantastic dancer she was rip ann you are sorely sorely missed.
love her persona., i didnt know who she was until i first saw her act and sing and dance in the Annie movie. Little did i know she studied under Fosse 💙
That's not all she did under Fosse
Ann's moves are so precise and nuanced, her dance partners look sloppy and careless in comparison. She is a wonder of nature with that body and expressive physicality.
her partners are excellent
Ann's danced Fosse directly from Fosse for many, many years. Shes way ahead on the precision. I think they did a fabulous job! They all made it look effortless ;)
RIP Ann - such incredible talent
Ann Reinking was the protégé and sometime girlfriend of the choreographer, Bob Fosse. She starred in the Roy Scheider movie, "All That Jazz", a biography of sorts of Fosse and, essentially, played herself.
And Fosse made her audition for the part. . . several times.
@balok63a40 It's one way to avoid cries of nepotism and to maintain a sense of boss-employee status.
Dammit! I didn't know that she died...just found out and now I'm crying...I loved her dancing, the control and style and freedom
Msravillosa bailarina , su técnica, su ángel
Very fosse! She even sounds like Gwen verdon
Such incredible moves. Hard to believe how smooth and perfect. Too bad she is gone.
Unbelievable , amazing!
Her talent and precision were unequaled!!! 💜
And her nuance. She subtly does so much that dancers and choreographers today don’t even notice, let alone perform.
R.I.P. Ann Reinking!!
Гениальная актриса❤
Legs that went on forever.
Jesus. What a dancer
This was sssooo sharp. Just a remarkable classic!
I’m that attitude promenade her leg did not move ONE BIT. And isolation QUEEN.
I am 100% in agreement with Markie Polo's comment about AR and this incredible piece.
An amazingly brilliant talent light gone out...rip Ann
Totally Fabulous!!! Talent and class at it's highest level!!!!!!
Best dancer I ever saw. Stunning.
Simply excellent.
Faaantastic. Perfect rhythm. Gorgeous silhouettes. If you're an animator, you'd know what I mean.
After I saw Donna McKenzie in the original production of ACL, I got to see Ms Reinking as Cassie. She was glorious, making the role her own. Different styles than Ms McKenzie, who was wonderful in her own right. I am one lucky retired actor.
She makes this look so easy...and it's really hard. So glad I saw her with Ben Vereen and John Rubenstein in Pippen.
A joy to behold, was lucky enough to see her in the original production of Dancin' she was in a word sublime.
Great dancer! Fosse's best
RIP you beautiful legend xx
R I P, my heart is bleeding. Thank You for everything
May she rest in peace❤️ #annereinking #broadwaystarpassed
...the movement is fine...all i can see...is her long lean lanky gorgeous BODY...any fashion designer would KILL to dress a body like that...
I thought she had to be over six feet tall due to just those legs! I was surprised when I met her in person that she was about 5'6" or 5'7".
