Good topic for discussion. Not knowing how long it has been since the Scottish couple came over to France, causes a bit of uncertainty - because I really got the impression that it's been years since anybody was through the tunnel It's possible that the British long range communication system went down early in the apocalypse. This may account for why Jenner had thought that they had fallen As to why Britain lasted longer, it may be simply a case where they didn't make some mistakes that other countries made - they had the citizens stay at home instead of evacuating them to camps in the cities - they didn't have a 'Project Cobalt' type of military program to bomb the citizens (which only created more walkers) - there were no battles between the military groups - the military didn't abandon their posts At some point, they were going to have problems with food supplies, civilian unrest, or problems dealing with illness was going to catch up with them.
Look at covid the population was very happy to do lockdown for months. So seems very likely everyone was told to stay at home. Also with it being such a small country it must of been easier for the army to keep control as you can get anywhere within the country within in a day.
GB is just built different I guess.
