Nice easy build. I would seriously consider securing that shelf unit in the back. If you were doing 65 and had to slam on your breaks, everything in that unit would fly forward. While traveling in VA I was rear ended........and had I not secured everything, it could have been worse than it was. I have a 2016 Ford Trans Connect. I have slept at Wal-Mart during my travels and slept just as comfortable as if I were in a camp ground. I hope you continue your car camping adventures!
That’s an excellent point on the shelf unit, I was thinking about it riding well but not considering the projectile factor. Definitely something to think about when I do this again! Thanks for the reminder! I would absolutely love to play with a bigger van like a Transit. Who knows, that may be a future video :-) Safe travels out there!
About 3 years ago, someone hit my SUV from behind and their insurance was paying for a rental for me. I used the opportunity to rent a Dodge Caravan so I could try out car camping. I went to a state park in Texas and enjoyed the weekend in the Texas Hill Country. I really look forward to buying my own van and using things I already own to set it up. Your set-up is really neat and simple.
Yes!!! The simplicity has me hooked lol. I love my camper life but sure enjoy the ease of a van/suv. Thanks for writing and may you have many wonderful weekend camping adventures ❤️
I am going to look at a peach today! It's a 2006 with decent mileage and a 1 owner mechanic who has been caring for it! The inside layout looks similar to your loaner. Nice quick build you did there for sure! Lot's of room for sure!
New subscriber! I enjoyed the simplicity of your setup. Some of the builds are so overwhelming that I would not even start. This I could do to get an easy start. thanks
Thanks for subscribing and tuning in :-). I live full time in a tiny camper, but I also enjoy a quick SUV or van set up for taking easier trips without tagging the rv along. Hope you find fun adventures out there :-)
This looked like a very easy “build”. I have a grand caravan that I’ve been toying around with the idea of doing something like this. Thanks for the tips.😎👍
Hello newest friend! Nice to run across you today. I'll tell you I've had Three Dodge grand caravans before I knew about This lifestyle option. I have a class c now But can absolutely see using one of these again. Have a beautiful and blessed day 🙏. LUCRETIA
Thanks for tuning in! I definitely enjoyed playing with the van. I imagine there is so much more that could be done to make it super travel friendly:-). I love my tiny camper that I full time in, but could absolutely see myself taking an extended trip in a minivan :-). Safe travels to you out there.
It is definitely my "cup of tea" . I have a minivan with stow and go seats too. My minivan is a bit older but I plan to take it on camping trips. I have not tried it yet but soon. Josie
How fun! I wish all the minivans had the stow and go!! So easy to transform but still a snap and back to normal ❤️. Thanks for watching and commenting:-). I hope you have amazing adventures when you get out there:-)
Thank you Rose. I was blessed to have such a great camping buddy and she will definitely be missed. The minivan thing was so fun lol. I truly would love to take an extended trip in one just for the ease of picking up and moving to the next destination. I love my Gidget but I need to change things up now and again :-)
That is a GREAT IDEA. I live in Montana and if I was just going for the weekend , car camping would be great. Anything longer and I would use my bumper pull. Not sure if my Town & Country has the Stow & Go seats so I'll have to check.
good job, some of us don't want to alter our vans. I saw a guy place a cot in back to lift the sleeping space and provide under bed storage. He also used plastic pipe extensions on the cot legs. Cut to level the cot if the van floor is irregular. VAN ON TT
What a lot of fun I've been messing with van and turning it into a live in in the so when we are pulling the Casita we can just park and go in the back and it rely works for smaller trips. Sorry bout buttons Hope you find another dog
I understand that for sure. I love my Casita, but every now and then I just want to travel a little easier when I’m moving a lot. Hope you enjoy your second travel vehicle :-).
Wow, sure wish I had that set up for my trip coming up, could stop and sleep anytime when getting tired on my quest for warm weather from MN. I'm going to consider future with one of these. The stow n goes are flush floor? I'm shorter so that could work well! Thanks again for a very nice Video. 👍
I would absolutely travel in one :-). With the Stow N Go feature all 4 of the back seats fold completely into the floor leaving a mostly flush floor. (A few small areas that I filled in with the foam squares but it really wouldn’t take much to make a nice even floor ❤️). It could definitely save a few hotel bills on an extended trip chasing warmer temps lol
Really enjoyed the car camping. I also have a Casita, but for a change, I put a topper on my truck for some truck camping. So sorry to hear about your sweet little puppy. God bless!
I really like the cargo container with pouches. Good idea. I like reaching for things easily. Also, the pockets behind the seats are cool. Those ice chests do come in handy for seating.👍 cool easy setup…..
Thank you so much for this video! I am still in planning stage right behind you, I want a Voyager, very similar, but have about two yrs of debt reduction so in the mean time I have a tent and a car, and am collecting camping gear for week end overnights in state parks. I am trying to b patient as I know this is a very important stage of development and learning; so far I learned that the stakes tents come w are insufficient so I ordered better ones and am setting up in my back yard to become proficient, my next purchase will b a bed, probably an air mattress as I will b using it for two yrs even tho it won't go in my van it will b good to have for friends joining me..... It takes time to collect all the things and is a fun part of the process.
I love it!!! Sounds like you have a fantastic plan and will be educated and equipped when that time comes for full time!!! You are SO right about those tent stakes! Lol I can definitely see the appeal in van camping and adventure and even though I live in a tiny camper full time, I very much enjoy the freedom the van/suv bring. Best of luck and wishes to you on your fun journey ❤️. Thanks so much for writing and may you have safe travels:-)
Great ideas for a quick trip ! I have the same basic van but with deluxe amenities. My wife and I want to take longer trips but we want to start with a no-build and little overnights. Thanks for sharing this!
I’m also a Texan and plan on “car/van” camping soon! I’ve done tons of research and came across your channel today! I’m excited to watch all of your videos and who knows… maybe we will run into each other down the road.
Thank you! I do have a tiny camper but LOVE the ease of car camping now and then! It would be fun to run into each other out there :-). Best of luck in getting your vehicle set up for the road, and I hope you find many great adventures ahead!
Those Vans are a great option! I think two people might be a bit tight ? Caravan Dan adventures sold his Casita and started traveling in a Van just like the one you used ! So sorry about Buttons 😟. Thanks for sharing Christi !👍
You know I LOVE my Casita, but I’ll definitely be filling in with some car camping trips now and then :-). Agreed that it might be tight for 2 (not impossible though). Thanks for the UA-camr suggestion, I’ll check him out :-)
I have a 2014 Town & Country touring L I’ve had it two years now and I have done one trip from Minnesota to South Carolina to southwest Florida and back and I have done four trips to southwest Florida and back. each time staying in it for a few weeks at a time. And I have to say there’s tons of room in there! it is one of the roomiest vans I’ve owned in Campton I’ve camped in a 2007 dodge grand caravan and the Town & Country gives me way more room! It’s a home away from home😊
The van has a high amount of plastic interior shrouding which takes up a huge amount of space. I would rip it out and cover the walls with reflectic. That might give you enough room to run the bed across the back. I would cover most of the windows with black contact paper and then replace the rear view mirror with a computer monitor with a camera on the back. Of course this would ruin the resale value but you would have more room. Just my crazy idea.
Thanks for adding the comments here to give others some additional ideas :-). This was just a “for fun” temporary experiment for me, but appreciate the input for sure!

Thanks for this. Due to grandchildren/life issues I have decided for the time being on a minivan with stow and go seats. I do plan to remove the very back seats that I won't particularly need so it would give me additional storage space, but I need the middle ones so therefore it will be a "no build, build". The Dodge Grand Caravan could be an option but I have severe allergies and I have found that leather or faux leather seats are better for me (especially if I travel in dusty areas) and it seems easier to find leather seats in the C T&C than the Caravan. Especially if you don't want black 🙂 BTW, my son and grandchildren are in Texas 🙂

🤣 Yay! I’m glad I’m not alone in that! 🤣
😂 me too!! It's soooo cozy...I drive a 2018 Dodge Caravan...I remove the middle seats completely. I love the storage that it creates 😊
@vickicooper7424 lol. If I didn’t have the cargo van now, I’d probably travel in the Caravan!
It's the same car as mine. I think Town and Country is a good car for sleeping in the car. Just fold the chair and we can go camping right away.
Yes, that definitely makes for such an easy transition :-)
I’m really sorry that you lost Buttons. Such a cutie, RIP Buttons. 😢 This was a great look at a simple setup.
Thanks for your condolences. I will definitely miss having that sweet pup out on the road with me. 💙🐶
