The reality is we are not good enough as we claim we are
US never sells F-35 if a country has armed itself with S-400, they even kicked out Turkey for this reason despite them being a partner that program. Now even if US for some reason agrees, as a south asian country, F-35 will be a logsitical and economical nightmare for India. People often forget that F-35 is a 'joint' fighter programe, meaning it is owned by several countries, unlike F-16 etc. Had India remained committed to the Pak/FA (now Su 57) programe, they could have invited another country or two in it and developed a much better version due to additonal economical resources.

J20s can't operate in Ladakh or Hotan prefecture because of altitude and engine performance

As true patriot. I lost my interest and hope in our scientists and engineers who have no competence in even making a drone let alone having 5th gen aircraft. A terrorist outfits and country like Iran is able to produce so many drones and proven it's efficiency, while india with huge potential and skills is not able to come up with a drone. How can you expect me to support our country scientists?
Even tejas critical components and main parts are imported. I have no hope we would ever be able to come up with homegrown weapons until 2050.

@@sreeharim7322 you're thought process is stuck in past time. During kargil as my dad was in airforce, we were struggling with precision weapons. Those days in campus it was out through word of mouth Israel was helping us, which officially proved to be true now. It's known we lost more men during the short war in kargil it exposed our preparedness and shortcomings of weapons in the inventory. Next, during galwan our soldiers were not decently equipped to fend off Chinese with barbed wire and stones, we could have been extra vigilant, thirdly, our galwan stand off made us sweat 😥 to think our inability to deploy heavy tanks at high altitude, now we have come up with korean version of zoro tanks as overnight solution. Mind you it's not made by india. And when Pakistan attacked us for batalkot strike, our sukhois lacked BVR mussiles. Two su30s narrowly escaped f16 BVR MUSSILES entirely through manoeuvreability of the aircraft alone. We let our pilot down by getting caught by Pakistan it was deeply embarrassing. India being so big and a poised superpower was using mig21s as strategic first strike aircrafts is hugely embarrassing. What about Tejas many countries have not opted to buy instead bought pak china made jfs, we have to admit our weakness rather than polishing it and thinking we are invincible. Nope 🙅 we would be in deep trouble if we had fought a war with china or Pakistan with inferior Russian junks being obliterated by Ukrainians as easy peasy target.

Russia massively lags behind China in production capacity and new projects. We used to be able to import large numbers of latest weapons from the Soviet Union and Russia because they used to produce weapons in large numbers and acceptable cost. But that option has gone.

S70 Okhotnik stealth drones are really stealthy and have great range and payload. It's ready for production this year and affordable. They are paired with Sukhoi Su-57E semi-stealthy fighter jets that can provide radar guidance. Drones can be used with air-to-air weapons like the R-77T.

One request: can we make a China vs India series where we focus on non conventional weapons also - biotechnology use (virus research), A2/AD strategy / porcupine strategy / cold start strategy (pros vs cons), genetic research (Super Soldier program), Environmental weaponry (cloud seeding, river dams as weapons Bangladeshi Manu river or Chinese Brahmaputra dam etc.) Robotics research (Unitree B2-W), Mass Sniper recruitment program, Underwater mining & defense capabilities (like communication/internet cable destruction), Wolf warrior diplomacy vs India's cooperative diplomacy, fast tactical Nuclear build up, stealth vs radar technology comparison, infrastructure build up (tunnels,bridges etc.), Chinese spies vs our spies (with respect to stealing defense secrets) & reverse engineering capacity (I know we can't even soak the TOT of jet engine, so how can we reverse engineer, but still asking for knowledge) - if we compare where China stands vs where India stands & where ever you see we are lagging - we need to raise the proper questions to government to request their timely intervention (before any war starts).
I also think that better communication & understanding needs to be implemented between Indian Communist Parties (Kerala etc. ), Indian Naxalites (wherever they are located) and Indian Ruling party (BJP, Congress, AAP etc. whoever comes whenever)- so that we ALWAYS have bipartisan support for national security issues against China & Pakistan - just like what US deep state (military complex) does.

I don't understand how Major Gaurav Arya is hell bent at getting F35 from US. Yes, we are procuring other critical military equipments(air) like predator drones , transport aircrafts, poseidons, chinooks etc from them. But these are usually procured along with critical spares. But 5th gen fighters are altogether a different ball game. IAF operating F35s can give live data to the USAF command with its inbuilt systems like ALIS and MADL which can provide real time update that can expose all our sorties, pilots skills, deployments and other critical information which IMO not a sensible thing to do. Even if we go ahead as the Air Marshal says there can be delays in delivery both in aircrafts and critical spares. And Americans trustworthiness can be of question when we are in dire need of spares, and there are chances they might start dictating terms to meet their goals. As Air marshal said the priority should be that we use the funds for our AMCA program and procure more Rafales in short term to increase our squadrons. I'm pretty sure most of us are desperate to see our own 5th gen squadrons, which is taking forever but I'm sure when AMCA is ready it will be as good as F-35 if not better. And also let's have faith on our IAF pilots skills which have been proven over time and again when the adversary had technologically advanced fighters.

It's a mystery to me, which is why India is not opting to buy more MIGs. We've been usjng MIG for almost 5 decades,thenext gen MIGs coild be a lot cheaper alternative to such high cost F35s. Also, Rafael is very good due to the fact that its tech is relatively well protected. Give them the MMRCA project and bring entire manufacturing to India. My still sense is that the real edge is with drones and not these hmfighter aircrafts.

As of April 2024, the Indian Navy has about 150 ships and submarines:
Aircraft carriers: Two, including INS Vikramaditya and INS Vikrant
Submarines: 2 nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines and 16 conventionally powered attack submarines
Other ships: 12 destroyers, 12 frigates, 20 corvettes, 8 landing craft utilities, 10 large offshore patrol vessels, and 5 fleet tankers
India should first focus on basic things including research things and all instead of buying other countries products. Because they will only be available for us when there is already 7th/8th generation aircraft in their market.

India needs F-35 ASAP , For those who are wondering , no India is a special case , despite S-400 being Operational , it was still flown to Indian AirShow. The Problems started because USA wanted India to bend as per Ukraine issue. But otherwise there is serious discussion on F35 manufacturing (Parts) in India. These things with Indian Govt. takes time ( Say 5 years +) .

Why does nobody mention that f35 is not just a new platform straining iaf supply chain but it also means you will need to buy the entire weapons package for it to be any use, cos iaf will not be able to integrate their existing Russian, French or even Indian weapons to it and thereby increasing the costs manifold.
Secondly the open secret which everyone seems to forget is that rafales bought by iaf are capable of nuclear delivery. Amreeka won’t provide you that capability with any of their platforms

F5 standard upgrade will come post 2035. Yes we need 114 but to induct it after 7 or more years why should it be given priority? GE Aerospace global supply dilemma will be resolved by Japan (As the trade war with China & Russia (main raw material suppliers, eg. Titanium) starting next year, let's stick to F404 IN 20 and F-414, parallel upgrade of Kaveri, and the most important JV next generation engines with Safran(Top priority) must be inked this year or next. I'm not a big supporter of phased manner knowing little bit of defence. We need 144 rafales under atmanirbhar bharat. Give dassault aviation land and everything they want and tell them we need at least 4 squadrons of F4/F4.2 version with 90-100% of ToT before 2030. And rest of the 4 squadrons of F4.2/F5 version before 2034-35. And there should be no delays or excuses to that. At the same time we need to invest heavily in Tejas MK2, TEDBF and AMCA. For that we need to upgrade our defence budget to at least 3% if not more.
If India can buy predator drone for100 million and rafale for 200 million dolars then what is the issue to sign deal with Rolls Royce which offered 100 percent TOT with IPR for 2 billion 5 years ago and still government wont sign it .
