Welcome to our dreamworld! Fly high is actually their 3rd comeback but it is the prequel of chase me and good night. There are so many interpretation of the story line. The guy in Chase me was a ghost hunter that's lured by the girls for a reason, you'll find out in the continuation in Good Night. Each girl represents a nightmare and are under a curse, with special abilities, but that's a deeper aspect of the story that most wouldn't need to know to enjoy Dreamcatcher content. I'm an OG kpop stan myself I have been a kpop stan since Super Junior debute and all and have stan 2ne1 for live and now I'm a pure Dreamcatcher fan they are so unique,so refreshing, most kpop these days are popularity contest based and its just threw me off but groups like Dreamcatcher stay true to their concept and music and fandom and their personality is so great it reminds me of the older days kpop groups
Your correct on the popularity based competition groups. Too many groups sound so alike now. I have only been into K-Pop just over two years. I got into it via 4Minute then 2NE1 and EXID. Dreamcatcher are so different to all the rest and deserve more recognition in their home country.
Obviously, as with all stories, this one is free to be interpreted in different ways by different people. I'll try my best to give a quick rundown from what I gathered from other InSomnias. The over arcing story in Fly High (the prequel to Chase Me and Good Night) is that JiU (at 1:55 in this video), captures a spider. Yoohyeon then burns the spider to death (at 4:06 in this video). This enrages the spider queen, who curses the girls to become nightmares. In Chase Me, a ghost detective (?) was checking out the hotel (presumably the same building from Fly High) for, well, ghosts, and realizes that the building is being haunted by the girls. Chase Me presumably is about the detective "chasing" the girls in order to solve the mystery behind the hotel's haunting. He becomes tormented by the girls, and eventually breaks into one of the closed rooms to see the picture of girls. Before you watch Good Night, I would recommend going back to Chase Me and skipping to the ending (you'll realize a correlation between the music at the end, and the beginning of Good Night). I hope this clears up the story line a bit! There's obviously a lot more details, but this is just a quick rundown. I also enjoyed hearing about your interpretation of the lyrics!
I really loved your reaction and your perspective on the lyrics outside of the lore, i agree with it a lot. Because lore wise it's about 7 girls who got cursed by the spider and became nightmares and bother other people's dreams. It's nice to step aside from theories and the concept once in a while to think about what the lyrics could actually be about.

yes you have the order correct as far as "Nightmare" series storyline. yes some ppl will nitpick saying Fly High is third in release date order nonetheless still a confirmed prequel, totally disregarding that you stated you are watching in order of the story unfolding. also for clarification to avoid any future confusion, Scream and Boca are a part of a separate story arc called "Dystopia" which will be a trilogy according to Jiu.

fun fact: fly high is very subtle, the storyline is very reliant on the most hidden objects (ex: books on the dining table that indicate who is corrupted and who is not; falling feathers that indicate torn dreamcatchers, meaning they are on nightmares bec the spider cursed them after jiu captured it)

Welcome to the dreamworld~ Did you see the bit where they were using their hair as a prop right there at the end of the chorus? They grab their hair, pull it up and then over to the other side. It's way more obvious in the dance practice than in the MV, though. Also!! Each of them represents a specific nightmare, all of which are symbolized in this MV. idk if you want to guess at them, but they're all there! (I also know all of them, so if you want a quick answer yup I can do that lol) I noticed a few elements may have skipped you a bit like their yukata-inspired clothes; this debut was heavily influenced from J-rock, so I figure it's kinda fair game, but if you notice, it's right over left which means that they're dead - they died as they became nightmares I think. All of the artwork in the back in a lot of scenes is very macabre - it's lots of skulls and symbols of death, kind of like the artwork that came out post-European Black Death. My focus hasn't really been on the lyrics (poetry and lyricism are two things that totally escape me and I'm not that great about deriving meanings from lyrics until it's pointed out to me) but I can definitely see where you're coming from! ps. omg don't feel pressured to react to this, it's cool if you wanna, but no pressure, but your comments about the lyrics makes me think that you will *really* enjoy Ateez's Thanxx - the lyrics are very up-front and in your face about telling authority figures to back off and stop telling others how to run their lives (so I can thankfully understand it lmao) things like 'that's the way I did it/oops well that was then, mind your own business' which is why I think it'll jibe with you a lot.

You got the songs order correct, yup. There're many perspective for the nightmare series. My take is Fly high is before the nightmare happens. When they got trap in the nightmare was after Yoohyeon killed the spider in the jar with the magnifying glass. The spider took revenge and they were trapped. Take the lore of DreamCatcher into account. Chase me is that guy is investigating the girls who by now have become Nightmares, while the girls challenge him as he goes around in the mansion, and it continues on to the next MV, Goodnight.
Well Fly High is a prequel and isn't really meant to be watched first. It was the 3rd release. Scream and BOCA are part of a separate series. Breaking Out serves as an additional ending/coda to the Nightmare series after Piri.
I'd say there's no specific rule about watching prequels first once the entire series has been released since Thina is watching them in chronological order anyway. It's like watching The Hobbit before going onto TLotR.
@@BarstucksCoffee Except that The Hobbit and TLotR are based on prior work where The Hobbit came out first so storywise the movies flipped it but many were already familiar. Sure you can watch things in any order, but it makes sense to start with an actual debut since Fly High did not exist when Chase Me came out and is meant to be seen with the context of Chase Me / Fly High, but whatever... they're music videos. There's just a contingent for music / movies / etc. the honestly think that prequels always come first for some reason, but context is important. For example, although many did watch the Star Wars prequels first due to age of viewer, watching them without the context of knowing who Darth Vader, Obi Wan, Yoda and the Emperor are removes much of what the movies are built on.
Since there is no official story, every interpretation is fair and good. In my personal opinion, everything released after Fly High is following the Fly High story and still before Chase me, but I could definitely be wrong. But regardless, it's probably best to just follow the release order. Anyways, I loved your interpretation!

Fun fact: they cater way more to Japan because they borrow that sound of cute rock. It's very popular and doesn't match the mainstream K-pop sound. If you get time check out some J-pop. Especially Band-Maid. DC reminds me a lot of them. Its also Lowkii why I they haven't had their first win yet...the Korean people still kinda have beef with Japan...but thats just my opinion🤸
you're a little out of order but it doesn't matter much. the first two videos show who they are and what thay can do. Fly High is a flashback showing how they got that way. the videos borrow from a lot of places. A bit of Harry Potter and a bit of Sailor Moon. They seem to be learning to be witches. Nature magic as shown by the butterflies and bright colors. Then they meet the spider. They learn a different darker way. Yes they kill the spider. In one culture you go on a vision quest and meet a spirit animal. You have to kill it to gain the power it offers. They kill it. Their journey is complete and the butterflies vanish. Now they are nightmares with all the powers but surprise, the spider owns them. After the third video they are trying to escape the spider. The guy from Chase Me is probably looking for them because they vanished when they became nightmares and if seven of your students vanish that's what you do. But if it's these girls and they don't want to be found you probably should go fishing instead. There really wasn't very much K-POP before 2000. It's always been a pet peeve of mine that anything at all in K-POP should be thought of as old. I guess in K-POP old happens when it stops promoting and when it gets to be about five years old it becomes forgotten. Ah well. I remember.

I was looking for Spice Girls videos on You Tube and kept getting similar search results for girl groups in asian schoolgirl uniforms. The Spice Girls video was crap so I picked a five member group to compare and it was Wonder Girls. I looked at the discography and Tell Me seemed right since I was looking to find out what this was all about. I was instantly hooked. Later I found the Spice Girls movie had a bit of a Girl's Generation song in it so my actual first brush with K-POP actually was the Spice Girls. I looked at a lot of groups but most of them were like AOA Excuse me or Girl's Generation Dancing Queen. They all dressed the same. same hair. Same figures. How could I be a fan if I couldn't tell them apart? Then I hit After School and became a lifelong devoted fan. I found they had stopped making music about the same time Spice Girls had. It seemed every group I really loved stopped making music. Even the groups represented in Invincible Youth. Gone. A curse. Did you discover Invincible Youth?

Did you see the bit where they were using their hair as a prop right there at the end of the chorus? They grab their hair, pull it up and then over to the other side. It's way more obvious in the dance practice than in the MV, though.
Also!! Each of them represents a specific nightmare, all of which are symbolized in this MV. idk if you want to guess at them, but they're all there! (I also know all of them, so if you want a quick answer yup I can do that lol) I noticed a few elements may have skipped you a bit like their yukata-inspired clothes; this debut was heavily influenced from J-rock, so I figure it's kinda fair game, but if you notice, it's right over left which means that they're dead - they died as they became nightmares I think. All of the artwork in the back in a lot of scenes is very macabre - it's lots of skulls and symbols of death, kind of like the artwork that came out post-European Black Death. My focus hasn't really been on the lyrics (poetry and lyricism are two things that totally escape me and I'm not that great about deriving meanings from lyrics until it's pointed out to me) but I can definitely see where you're coming from!
ps. omg don't feel pressured to react to this, it's cool if you wanna, but no pressure, but your comments about the lyrics makes me think that you will *really* enjoy Ateez's Thanxx - the lyrics are very up-front and in your face about telling authority figures to back off and stop telling others how to run their lives (so I can thankfully understand it lmao) things like 'that's the way I did it/oops well that was then, mind your own business' which is why I think it'll jibe with you a lot.

You got the songs order correct, yup. There're many perspective for the nightmare series.
My take is Fly high is before the nightmare happens. When they got trap in the nightmare was after Yoohyeon killed the spider in the jar with the magnifying glass. The spider took revenge and they were trapped. Take the lore of DreamCatcher into account.
Chase me is that guy is investigating the girls who by now have become Nightmares, while the girls challenge him as he goes around in the mansion, and it continues on to the next MV, Goodnight.
Well Fly High is a prequel and isn't really meant to be watched first. It was the 3rd release. Scream and BOCA are part of a separate series. Breaking Out serves as an additional ending/coda to the Nightmare series after Piri.
I'd say there's no specific rule about watching prequels first once the entire series has been released since Thina is watching them in chronological order anyway. It's like watching The Hobbit before going onto TLotR.
@@BarstucksCoffee Except that The Hobbit and TLotR are based on prior work where The Hobbit came out first so storywise the movies flipped it but many were already familiar. Sure you can watch things in any order, but it makes sense to start with an actual debut since Fly High did not exist when Chase Me came out and is meant to be seen with the context of Chase Me / Fly High, but whatever... they're music videos. There's just a contingent for music / movies / etc. the honestly think that prequels always come first for some reason, but context is important. For example, although many did watch the Star Wars prequels first due to age of viewer, watching them without the context of knowing who Darth Vader, Obi Wan, Yoda and the Emperor are removes much of what the movies are built on.
The light and dark juxtapostition in Fly High is both creepy and awesome.
Since there is no official story, every interpretation is fair and good. In my personal opinion, everything released after Fly High is following the Fly High story and still before Chase me, but I could definitely be wrong. But regardless, it's probably best to just follow the release order. Anyways, I loved your interpretation!

Fun fact: they cater way more to Japan because they borrow that sound of cute rock. It's very popular and doesn't match the mainstream K-pop sound. If you get time check out some J-pop. Especially Band-Maid. DC reminds me a lot of them. Its also Lowkii why I they haven't had their first win yet...the Korean people still kinda have beef with Japan...but thats just my opinion🤸

you're a little out of order but it doesn't matter much. the first two videos show who they are and what thay can do. Fly High is a flashback showing how they got that way. the videos borrow from a lot of places. A bit of Harry Potter and a bit of Sailor Moon. They seem to be learning to be witches. Nature magic as shown by the butterflies and bright colors. Then they meet the spider. They learn a different darker way. Yes they kill the spider. In one culture you go on a vision quest and meet a spirit animal. You have to kill it to gain the power it offers. They kill it. Their journey is complete and the butterflies vanish. Now they are nightmares with all the powers but surprise, the spider owns them. After the third video they are trying to escape the spider. The guy from Chase Me is probably looking for them because they vanished when they became nightmares and if seven of your students vanish that's what you do. But if it's these girls and they don't want to be found you probably should go fishing instead.
There really wasn't very much K-POP before 2000. It's always been a pet peeve of mine that anything at all in K-POP should be thought of as old. I guess in K-POP old happens when it stops promoting and when it gets to be about five years old it becomes forgotten. Ah well. I remember.
Thanks for the DC notes! Which Korean artists did you start listening to? The ones who got me into Korean music were H.O.T, Sechskies, S.E.S, Uhm Jung Hwa, Yoo Seung Jun, and Jinusean. Not sure if their music would be considered pop, I just use the term “k-pop” b/c that’s more relatable for the newer generations.😅

@@ogkpopstan that's actually a strange story. It was Spice Girls that got me into K-POP. I was looking for Spice Girls videos on You Tube and kept getting similar search results for girl groups in asian schoolgirl uniforms. The Spice Girls video was crap so I picked a five member group to compare and it was Wonder Girls. I looked at the discography and Tell Me seemed right since I was looking to find out what this was all about. I was instantly hooked. Later I found the Spice Girls movie had a bit of a Girl's Generation song in it so my actual first brush with K-POP actually was the Spice Girls. I looked at a lot of groups but most of them were like AOA Excuse me or Girl's Generation Dancing Queen. They all dressed the same. same hair. Same figures. How could I be a fan if I couldn't tell them apart? Then I hit After School and became a lifelong devoted fan. I found they had stopped making music about the same time Spice Girls had. It seemed every group I really loved stopped making music. Even the groups represented in Invincible Youth. Gone. A curse. Did you discover Invincible Youth?
