- A featurette detailing the production of the 1995 film 'Toy Story'. Only available in its unedited form from the Collectors Edition version of the film. This was captured directly from the 1996 CAV Laserdisc. I do not own this feature, it is only here to preserve this otherwise unavailable documentary.
Amazing how a CGI animated movie gets done. It almost feels like a live action movie in a small box
Corey Burton narrates this documentary pretty good in case you didn't recognize the sound of his voice. Nostalgia rocks big time, LOL. 👍🏼 if you grew up with this movie.
Corey is one of the greats.
From that day on Pixar soon made an entire films like A bugs life, monsters inc, cars and much more
At least Tinny have made an great Cameo in Toy Story 4.
When I saw that, I was like………
WOW!!!!
There's a short version of it that is seen on the 2000 VHS of Toy Story.
GREAT THE STORY BEHIND TOY STORY (1995 ) FILM !!!
Remind me again why this featurette wasn't feaured on the 2000/2001 Gold Classic DVD of "Toy Story"?
26:33 I'm surprised the credits forgot to mention the second of two important notices that mentions contributions before the copyright text. If there was the other part, here's how I would bill it:
The contributions of the
ANIMATION STAFF
WALT DISNEY ARCHIVES
and
WALT DISNEY ANIMATION
RESEARCH LIBRARY
are particularly appreciated
Do you think they should have included that text in these credits too?
It`s my favorite animated movie
If buzz things he’s real, then why did he freeze when Andy and Sid came into the room 🤔
I didn’t know John Lasseter helped with Mickey’s Christmas Carol!
Me neither
Now we know
Did anyone ever hear the instrumental of the “film mix” of the song “Strange Things”?
At the beginning of the documentary •••••
Does this mean that someone at Disney Or Pixar still have access to it,even after all these years?
Tron Was The First Feature Film To Explore Computer Graphics Set Inside A Video Game The Environments Vehicles And Special Effects Were All Computer Generated Imagery
This was also on the Toy Story DVD that came with the Toy Box set.
But different.
Different how?

I’m always struck by how young everyone was while creating this movie. Like, Pete Docter was in his early-mid 20s during production.
Andrew Stanton was 25 when he first worked on Toy Story
Toy Story actually looks better on Laserdisc IMO. This is due to the Laserdisc version using the 35mm master instead of a digital re-rendering used on newer releases, which is why I'd love to get a Laserdisc copy of this movie one day. :)
That's definitely a good way to put it. This and stuff like the effects in Jumanji or Casper the same year doesn't look as good with blu ray because overly detail stuff that wasn't exactly meant to be shown in high definition and brighten the darker shadows that tried to make it blend with the atmosphere better.
The VHS version also uses the 35mm master
There’s no way it looks better than the 4k version
@@metallicflare1 In the poptarts scene in the DVD version, they forgot to add the motion blur when he runs and Woody screams. Also the film version has more natural lighting
I own the VHS of this documentary. I love it
If 3D animation is allowed to exist, that means 2D cartoons are allowed to exist too. Art can be done from different mediums. Mixed live action and CG can cost more time and money than hand-painted cartoons alone. There is always going to be upsides and downsides with the mediums, and people have the right to love or hate one of them or multiple.
11:56 Rex: I just don't think I can take that kind of rejection.
No Matter What Your Age You Know That Toy Story Is A Real Classic
This documentary can also be seen on the 2000 Ultimate Toy Box DVD set, consisting of Toy Story 1 & 2.
Nostalgia overload. 💛❤️💜
Awesome video I’ve seen it from when I was a kid
I love this documentary
It’s what got me wanting to pursue a career in animation
I loved Tim Allens shock face when he sees the firework blew up
Was this on the UK VHS release of the Toy Story Special Collector's Edition from 1999?!
Yes.

Pixar wouldn't have existed if it wasn't for Steve Jobs!
Yes! That’s right & so very true! Steve Jobs is a Real True Legend! I love the Guy so much & really appreciate him for my Childhood the best after all these years from back in the 90s who he made “Toy Story” the Greatest Legendary Movie ever made in History!
Steve Jobs is dead
I hope The Story Behind Toy Story shall finally be included in the 30th Anniversary Blu-ray edition of Toy Story in 2025?

Why didn't the making of talked about Woody's mean-spirited personality? That was the key thing before the team revision his likable personality.
Maybe they were too ashamed of the Black Friday reel
@@akganimationstudioproducti3779 That's a good answer. I didn't know Disney executives were looking for something with an edge until "Toy Story" had came as an exampled result.
I'm glad Tinny was out. He annoying
How??? No he’s not. Tin Toy is one of the best Pixar Characters in History only in my honest opinion.
