The big fan above the gondolla is for the immersion. The noise and vibrations it produces gives the feeling that you are in a jet fighter. I think there is another smaller fan inside the gondolla that blasts air on your feet on both sides. But again, it's purely for the immersion 🙂
I went on this ride but the only thing that annoying was that repeating “I got the pow- Also, it was at night so I didn’t know what direction we were going like up or down as when I thought we were going down I thought the sky was the floor😂
