- On the morning of March 30, 1998, Paul Vevesco and Larry Knapp arrive at a construction site in Margot Florida to lay pipe. At exactly 9:30, the workers freeze as they hear an ominous rumbling. Seconds later, the north wall of the trench collapses around them. Vevesco and Knapp are buried to their necks in concrete rubble. Terrified and in pain, the two men silently await death as the trench slowly fills with water.

Can we just take a second to appreciate how much effort is put into the reenactment process omg 😳 literally every detail was redone! Bravo 👏🏽 an thank god they were ok an rip to the other victim 🥺🙏🏽
Literally awesome
Agreed. Let's not leave out these plane crash cockpit reenactment episodes, too👏👏👏
No kidding. Like they looked trapped for real!
These are the people who deserve much more income rather than
entertainers and athletes. Respect the responders! For they hold your lives in their hands and often sacrifice their own for the cause of others. So very noble. Thank each one of you for all that you do in your life of sacrificial for others.
OMG,being buried alive is one of my worst fears. I hope they were heavily compensated that they wouldn't have to work again. Condolences to the family of the deceased 😭🕊
I have a fear of that. Imagine being tied upside down in a sleeping bag buried alive

Kids digging deep holes in beach sand have gotten trapped also. Don't let kids go nuts digging holes.
Even though this was just a reenactment, my gut twisted and turned watching it, the actors and everyone else on this doco did a great job. I can't imagine how horrifying the real accident was. So much respect for everyone who helped, you are all heroes... My condolences to the family of the one lost his life... 😢
Fire fighters, ambulance, police and paramedics, doctors, etc are amazing and don't get enough recognition.... they Rock 😀😏😁
they get more than enough recognition, dunno where you got that from
funny I can't find the news on it with all that media and nothing on the net
What about the military

A construction worker a couple houses died getting buried alive whilst working through the night on a house (which is illegal here) and he was found the next morning. Apparently he was crying for help all night and nobody heard him 😔 and I live right by the house, felt absolutely awful seeing them pull his body out.
How awful!
Omg 🤕🤕😭
Man that's crazy I bet that house that's across the street from you is haunted by the ghost of the Constitution worker
My condolences to the one who lost his life
The other sad part it hurt me to see them trying to get air that part scared me I saw on their faces they was begging for air it was so much dirt pressing on their chest. I truly thank God and those helpers for not leaving them.
Thanks for ruining it for me
My condolences to both for having to go through that horrible thing
@@deannaeverhart9506 ever heard of dramatization?
@@ingridakerblom7577 It's a reenactment they tried to do it best, if they didn't do it perfect that would have been almost identical to what happened...
That is my worst phobia . Imagine how they felt , i would scream and dig myself out of horror .
You wouldn’t be able to. The weight on you lungs would now allow you to breathe, and the sand would be too heavy to dig your way out of

Very sad to third victim did not make it . My condolence to third person. May soul rest in peace.
This was very sad
The other two suffered permanent injuries. They will never fully recover. This also deserves condolences.
Shame the company is so negligent to its workers!
Ye right
Ik right RIP 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
This happened to one of my best friends. Same exact problem. No cage or anything to shore up the walls. 30 feet deep. He was a big dude too but holy moly did it crush him. And it was a state job. Took a few months to recover. And....the week he went back to work, Julie didn't have the electric marked right and he hit a line digging and it blew him off his feet and threw him almost 30 feet backwards. After the pipeline work in the Dakotas, he decided to retire after 40 years.
The rescue workers deserve medals.
God bless all of them who survived🙏💖💓❤ Rest in Heaven to the one who died🙏💖💓❤
Wow, such an amazing yet heart breaking story..
Amazing how? Because it wasn't their time to die?
Millions and millions of thanks to all paramedics , rescue teams , Doctors, 911 staff, Fire fighters…….. for rescuing all of our lives here and there, providing us safety and giving happinesses back to our families !
May God bless and protect you all
Congratulations to everyone that PARTICIPATED in this amazing rescue, I was praying to God for both of them to make it alive, my condolences to friends and families of the guy that loss his life 😊☹💔.
I can't believe how deep that trench was and that those men were just standing in it without any reinforcements to the walls! You couldn't pay me enough to go down there. Heartbroken for the man who died and those living with permanent injuries.
Exactly you need shoring over 4 feet excavations. 12 feet with no shoring is poor management
Being born and raised in Broward County, this hits even harder.R.I.P Hero.
Ladies and gentlemen, please give it up for the great men and women who sacrifice themselves to save another human being, TRUE HEROES. Say thank you for the diligent work they did to save lives, as they always do. THANK YOU
The vibration from the jack hammer could cause the trench to collapse again. This is type C soil, very unstable. They obviously had no training in trench safety. The sides needed to be sloped. A cubic yard of soil can weigh 3500 lbs. Even if it was just to their legs, it could take months to recover, if ever fully.
It's a creepy feeling digging that deep. I worked at an archeolical site in the past. We went 5 to 6 meters deep sometimes. We were lucky to escape with our lives..Not a single pit ever collapsed on us.
Alain Vosselman yeah very lucky! You would think an archeological site would be more educated on soil dynamics.
@@johncamp7679 And at the time i never realized that the clay would completely incase a person totally as seen in the video here. If i had known that, they would have had to people me tripple for the deep diggings..lol.
Alain Vosselman I watched a Safety video, the guy was standing on the edge of the slope talking to his wife on the phone. It collapsed, when they recovered his body, he was still on the phone, never had a chance.
Did you way the whole doc?
Wow God bless them for their good works i can't stop crying but thank God they were save and may the one that pass away rest in peace
Praise God for creating good hearted people. Thank you rescuers.
Too bad this same god didn't HELP the victims avoid the collapse in the first place, always a dollar short and a day too late!

What a extraordinary rescue
Poor guys:(::: This is so heartbreaking sad to watch!!!
Happy there was a good outcome for some of them.
It seems like 1996 is too recent for something like this to happen. The company should have shored up the sides as the men dug.
Ikr
Yup
no , people have to die for us to use common sense safety practices
Or made the trench wider/with shallower angles on the walls
that's my thoughts exactly
Watching this makes me feel like I can't breathe truly horrible what these men went through

this is emotionally sad im crying right now I hope that that one who died is safe now in heaven💓❤️❣️and the ones who survived recover❤️💖💝💓

so sad for the guy that died
That job is such a dangerous job and they know it but it's still so sad when something like that happens condolences to the man's family who passed away
These type of jobs shouldnt exist, these are the type of jobs that should be done by machines only. But the machines are taking all of the human safe jobs. This is sad
The machines can't dig delicately enough around certain things....People will always have to get in there
Who wants to spend their last moments on earth surrounded by a bunch of machines? Though I understand what you're trying to say, human contact will alway be essential to a person's survival and sometimes it's the only thing that gives a person the strength to make it out alive, and if not, at least that last bit of human interaction will provide them some level of comfort before they die. Machines can't do what ppl can, nor can ppl do what machines can. I believe they're both necessary depending on the situation.
One day if you get in this industry you see machine wont be able to do everything. Man in it is needed
@@fedupwithfed4047 yes they can
Make a machine that can do what humans do then, if we could replace them, we would, robots are stupid right now and don't have the dexterity or awareness that we do
Oh my GOD ...thank GOD their alive nerves rock my body righ throughout the ordeal
There should've been a steel trench box or sloped from 4 feet off ground to 1 to 4 feet no matter what type of earth is. Hurry hurry is no good neither, sad it happened this way.
Even filming the vid!
They whould have to build a trech to but all that up lol
Well done to all the rescue teams. My heart was in my mouth... I felt very sad for the guy who didn't make it.... Heartbreaking news for the ones that survived I am sure..
Hope that they are recovering and as each day that goes by they regain their health ...
Wow rare to see a title that understates the events. I respect it a lot, purposely choose the the higher ground and not click baiting someone's tragic death
Lord have mercy! Talk about a rough day at work 😥😫.
I remember when this actually happened. It was horrible. Each time I see
trenchwork done now, with the metal supports they now use, I always think of all these brave men. In fact on my street 3 blocks down, currently.
It's heartbreaking to see this kind of situations 😭
My condolence to one that did not made it may the rest and peace.
I never see a trench like this anymore without a collapse barrier in place
God bless those 🔥 fighters all those people helped them at least they're alive one dead sad didn't make it

The co workers are the ones that really saved them!!!
Why do i watch these this is literally one of my worst fears and makes me so anxious
They started using some big words at the end 😭😭
Well done thanks again RIP to who didn't survive
My dad could be on this series, he was crushed by a forklift at work and survived, his dr.'s said it was a miracle and the astonishing thing is you would never know by looking at him!!!!
Praise Jesus your Dad is ok🖒!
Omg its good to hear he's always that means his time on earth isnt up yet
Wow really
Thanks for the medical team no more words to say
their efforts are INCREDIBLE 🤯
Thank god for emt and firemen ! Their presence alone always makes me feel safe and confident! 😇😇😇❤️❤️
This operation got fined into oblivion.
Not a SINGLE thing was done safely or correctly.
I hate the fines too, but every violation exists because someone died.
The fact that these workers didn't speak English makes me think this operation was MAD shady and the foreman should be in jail for negligence and manslaughter.
I bet he is in prison.
I was thinking the same thing. How can anyone put someone into this type of work environment? I hope this company get sued until non-existence.
@Adolf Stallin I work at a gold mine, but I'm not an operator.
The ditches weren't braced, they had no spotters, etc.
You don't have to dig trenches to know this was done poorly.

Amazing rescues from very brave and dedicated men!
They couldn't have benched the trench or used a ditch box!? My husband was buried in a ditch collapse due to the company he worked for cutting corners. It's a miracle he's alive.
