@@honeybat8803 its not about the size. Its about the angles and “camera” positioning. Hey Ross! I absolutely love your videos. I go back to seeing the old ones too because they’re so helpful. Love that you showed us your old artwork here too. Thank you for these videos! ❤
One thing that a lot of artists can’t take is criticism. And that’s where they misunderstand. That’s the only way to keep improving- to see what you can change to make future artworks EVEN better. Don’t take it as an attack, take it as a learning process. You’ll become a better artist.
Omg lol!! LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ppl are sooo sensitive Ross had to change the title to I 'improve' my fan's art, rather than 'fix' !! LMAO yall made my day.
Undergrad Art student here: It's not people being sensitive. Fixing implies that there was something wrong with it (people usually do "fixes" to undermine ones work typically under experienced artist). Improving is a better term to use as its just enhancing the piece. Calling people sensitive for wanting him to use the correct terms is really insensitive, they just want him to avoid getting hate for a term that is used to be negative rather than positive that's all.
I agree with Jordan. Using the word "fix" kinda feels like you're flexing on a lower skilled artist or the artist is full of themselves. Even though it's a small matter, it still doesn't sound good. Improve is a little better but still not the word choice I would use. "I paint over my fan's work" or "I redraw my fan's work" just sounds more professional and less conceited. Ya know?
Thanks ross❣️its really nice to get critiques as a new artist! Hopefully i will be able to impress you in the future as a badass artist 🤣 excited about the bootcamp !!

I am amazed how far you went with the reworking. In the real world a teacher would just tell you, you know you shouldn't have done this and that and you could do this and this to improve it, leaving it to an unexperienced imagination to figure it out. Love it! :)
Gamers, critique is so incredibly important, if you can't handle being told what's wrong with your work in a constructive manner then you may want re-evaluate your goals with art. Getting told that something you're proud of has major flaws is a blow to the ol' ego and it can hurt but videos like these are not meant to tear you down, you need to take what is being said at face value and continue to grow with the advice in mind.

As a traditional "non-digital" artist, I actually found all of his points very helpful. I go to a school where even students who are going into graphic design are forced to learn the fundamentals of drawing because it improves how you see things and it does transfer over between each medium you will use. I can understand if people are upset by his word choice at times, especially if you worked really hard on something and are still learning, but he does bring up valuable points. Even if you want to take your idea in a different direction and want it to look a certain way, you should really still focus on fundamentals with character design, focal point, contrast, composition, etc. Either way, this is your art journey! You decide where you want to head with it, and every artist will have their own opinion on your work just as you will on other people's work. At the end of the day, if you like what you do and are improving something to make yourself a better artist, that's what matters :)
Hey Ross, I love your videos!! The only problem I have is that I wish I could join your Boot Camp but I can't I have been following you for a while and I love your art style is one of my favorites. I am only in high school but I want to become an digital artist just like you but because I can't buy the equipment that you use. I will still try to start my journey to become an my own artist.

@@meaux7409 Art is usually the place I go to when sad or mad. I’ve been doing art for about 2 and a half years now and yes there is still a lot I have to learn but it gives me joy and perseverance to keep going with life. Sorry it didn’t make sense lol 😊
@@selenorii_ oh I get what you mean thanks for clarifying I was confused
well remember science (anatomy) is needed in art. but my art still sucks.. critique my art video please
Hey Ross! I absolutely love your videos. I go back to seeing the old ones too because they’re so helpful. Love that you showed us your old artwork here too. Thank you for these videos! ❤
Ross! I just bought your book "Nima". I'm so in love with it! :D
this is genuinely one of the best videos you’ve put out in terms of ‘teaching’ for me, i study your work A LOT and this was super helpful.
Same
One thing that a lot of artists can’t take is criticism. And that’s where they misunderstand. That’s the only way to keep improving- to see what you can change to make future artworks EVEN better. Don’t take it as an attack, take it as a learning process. You’ll become a better artist.
I just found this account yesterday and it’s hands down the best UA-cam account I have ever watched. I’ve just binged SO MANY videos so thanks Ross!
Ya know?
DO MORE! I learn more from this than your normal "teaching" vids.
I absolutely love his work I’m such a fan, and I love how he explains the building blocks of art in a fun light way.
Thanks ross❣️its really nice to get critiques as a new artist! Hopefully i will be able to impress you in the future as a badass artist 🤣 excited about the bootcamp !!
I love your art so much!!! 😍😍😍
Yc7yvy THAT WAS SO GOOD

Ross I love your art
You inspire me everyday and I just wanted to say keep up the great work and vibes 🥰🤗👊🏽👊🏽
The one with the brown hair girl in your style was absolutely AMAZING! This is really good video for improving artwork I wish people stopped being so upset at you the way they did. I can’t wait to see more from you!
We need more content like thisss 🥺💕
I knew I had to pause the last art, honestly Ross makes everything looks so innocent 🥺 I have a lot to learn!
I think it's so cool how he can immediately identify what's wrong with a portrait and fix it
I found your channel a few days ago and I'm absolutely AMAZED by your drawing skills!
Lovely improvements, it's great to see how a drawing can be improved upon like this!
“ will add more volume to the chest to feel more human”
Ah_ i see you’re a man of culture
culture is all we need.
truth be told.. my art sucks so bad my fellow classmates art would suck as well
can you critique my art videos pls
@@pogz1 if u were asking me for critique so the thing u should do is fill the gap between the lights and shadows with a bright color like a red or an orange depending on the skin color if that was helpful am @soh.omni.art on instagram if u wanna talk more on this topic
I’m only at the first piece and already learned something new! I feel kinda foolish that I didn’t figure out tangential lines before 😅
Thanks to Ross, your video keeps me alive to draw 😇
Man, the before and after with your own piece; it looks like the before version was when she got locked in a dungeon.
Also, great pointers! Makes me want to get my art critiqued, haha
yes yes yes, finally a bootcamp... my channels gonna have a skill boost. thank godness
Its awesome that you are giving artists advice that I definitely wished I could’ve received on my art
So good Ross. Your critique is so useful and so helpful. We can all take these critiques away and implement them into our own art ❤️
You're such an incredible teacher! Thank you!
I feel like the first image was just leaving room at the top for a potential book title.
These tips are so awesome!! I can't believe people are throwing a hissy fit over you trying to help out artists who willingly submitted these pieces. Don't mind the haters searching for issues, keep up the amazing work and the bootcamp!
Perfect, finally some good fucking content I can watch instead of finishing my drawings
I really REALLY LOVE THIS VIDEO pointing out mistake is the fastest way for me to learn so I can grow and to share this free!.I really sorry if there's people mad at you, don't mind them you did nothing wrong😭
i can see this being one of the most viewed videos, amazing job ross!
omg that spagethi joke killed me.. i just ate spagethi yesterday .. and im litterally laughin out loud in the library. XD .. that was very constructive like video . Thank you Ross. you are a big inspiration to us all.
I have been waiting for a video like this! Thank you Ross for the Quicktiques!!!
I’d love more of these videos!💜 I’m learning so much!!!💖
As a traditional "non-digital" artist, I actually found all of his points very helpful.
Hey
These typa videos are so awesome!!!!!
I appreciate all the really good advice he's giving, it's very helpful as general advice
Hey Ross, you're a true Sensei. This video is enough proof of that. Absolutely lovely and educational. Thanks for sharing your knowledge ✨

Ross I love seeing you’re content on my feed weather it’s here or Instagram
Imagine getting noticed by ross OMG
This is so inspiring me, thank you so much ross!!
Great tips! I'm still pretty much at the beginning of my art journey and making lots of "mistakes" as I'm learning to draw, so that's really helpful 😄👍
I expected you just redraw they works by your style, but you give soooo much advices! (of course u still redrawn they works by you stile in the end, but did it constructively hehe)
thank you!
Oh god Ross is a genius
Kinda reminds me of Boro's over-pain(t) series, I really enjoy that kind of content
LOVED this video! cant wait to share it with friends i learned so much! more of these plz?
Absolutely loved this video! It's helped me out a lot I'll def be using some of the tips! TY!
Ross it would be so cool if you did this again with more viewers art!!!❤❤❤
Reason 1 of why I want to do digital art:
ROSSSSSS CRETIQUEEE ME SENPAI XD
my art sucks so bad my fellow classmates art would suck as well
can you critique my art videos pls
Lol a few months ago I’d have been “don’t need to watch this bc my art is even worse than the fixing ones” and now I’ve been watching Ross for a year i’m finally here
I love the Rossdraws wear Deku One For all tshirt I’ts cant escape for my eye!! 😂
Thank you for making this video! It was very informative & entertaining. 👏👏
17:05 love your shirt, ross!
The moment he said nope don’t leave yet I was actually bringing the video to the bottom of my screen and I’m not sure why I was doing that but maybe it was to look at other videos to watch after watching this one 😅😅😅 sorry Ross 😅
13:38 it's funny because when i started learning painting i did exactly what he said
wow this is awesome! I just signed up! excited
So first thing you did on the spirit animal was remove two tangents. (Always a good idea.) Then you enlarged the spirit animal, and brought two of your own tangents back in. (Never a good idea. lol)
I would love to see what you do with this one drawing I did of a girl on that Disney art website back when I was like 12. I think I tried to make a realistic drawing at that point but like no it didn't work out
I keep seeing you wear the same shirt Ross, you're gonna make me think that your Patreons don't pay you enough 😂
this is dope! I love how you took your fan's artwork and put your magic touch to it, is this gonna be a thing now? i think its a good idea.
